Been playing this on the 360 for a bit now. Mostly training mode and mission mode. Finally started playing on XBL and oh my god is the online match making horrible.

Other than that, I'm using Sentinel (on point), Haggar, Magneto. Sentinels just too damn easy especially with Haggars lariat assist. I suck pretty bad, but I've been able to take out an 2 guys at once with XFC into hyper plasma storm. In a pinch, I can mash dat pipe with Haggar. Magneto is pretty tough to play and I have problems dishing out damage with him, but I definitely like his play style the best out of the 3.

Same here for Magneto; pretty hard to play but once you get the controls you do a nice dmg

You have to love the passion the presenters put in. Also the comeback is pretty impressive and that's a real pro fight.

yea i was watching the stream all weekend pretty much. as much as i love ssf4, i think marvel is definitely more fun to watch. and now that i've played it i understand how hard it is to play at the level that these guys play.

i think a lot of combofiend winning had to do w/matchup knowledge. spencer is not a common character at all so no one really knows what a good one is going to do, and that is why he was raping with him. i'd be surprised if he stayed so dominating with Spencer in the weeks to come, especially since now you will see a ton of dick riders who try to pick him up heh.

all that said however, combofiend was insane with spencer, regardless of matchup knowledge.

Spencer is good though. I've been using him from the beginning and although I suck. Spencer always seemed really good.

I know I'm getting old because I watch videos of this game, see all the constant, rapid movement, juggling combos, huge swath of characters and feel completely turned off.

This style of fighting game just isn't my thing.

Spencer is fairly difficult to play I believe. I was going to go to Final Round, but I had to work this weekend. I was so upset. I feel I'd have done fairly well. I think I could have gotten out of my pool at least. Unless I had Justin and Combofiend in mine. =(

The Marvel series isn't really for everybody. My friend just started getting into fighting games and is liking SFIV, but he watched the MvC3 finals and said it was too fast for him to comprehend.

that is how i was too with mvc2. but with ssf4 getting me interested in fighters again i gave mvc3 a chance, and i gotta say it is a ton of fun. i just wish online was better implemented because of right now that is 100% where i find my competition.

and as much as i love ssf4, i think mvc3 is much more fun to watch, especially now that i understand the game and what is going on.

I feel the same way. I'm just too old for that shit.

It is way more fun to watch because the top players aren't doing "haduken... haduken... haduken... haduken... FADC metsu haduken"

yea but at high level play, they aren't tossing fireballs for no reason. there is a reason behind every fireball. i feel the mindgames in ssf4 are greater than mvc3 still, but that also might because i understand ssf4 a lot more than mvc3. before understanding mvc i didn't really like watching it because it just seemed like there was too much shit going on. but now i understand all of the crazy shit going on!

mvc3 just seems to be like a game where you just try to fluster the shit out of your opponent as quickly as you possibly can, then when you land a hit, do the most damaging combo you possibly can. then rinse and repeat.

granted, a lot of these setups come from advanced strategies, like unblockable setups or crossovers, and in mvc3 they are just so damn fast that they are much harder to react to.

I was just kidding. I love SFIV >_> In Marvel though, getting that one hit can lead to taking out a character with most of the cast. Defensively, you need to be a lot more alert I feel. I just like watching it because you never get those Guile mirror matches where you win by two time outs. That, and I was way better at MvC2 than I ever was at any SF. I spent 10 years playing that game.

I honestly like both and I very much enjoy watching high level play in both. I still like watching SSF4 more because it is a little more strategic with footsies and stuff.

yea mvc3 is basically who can be the first to get the biggest damaging combos on the other person first. and 1 mistake can cost you an entire character. ssf4 feels a lot more mindgame oriented to me and strategy.

I feel a good analogy is SF is like tennis and MvC is like soccer. Both can be fun to watch, have those insane comeback moments, but one is a lot slower.

I think there is no age limit when it comes playing games and watching video games trailers. Just seen the new Duke Nuken trailer and OMG :awe:

I believe there is. As you age your reaction time slows. That is crucial in fighting games.

Yep. Not that I'm an old man, but at 31 and a father of two I don't have the reflexes or massive amounts of time to dedicate to gaming as most of my juniors do.

Don't feel bad, you're not alone. 20 years ago I fed more quarters than I care to remember into various versions of Street Fighter. Unfortunately the current trend in seems to focus on memorizing the animations of 30 different characters so you can properly time your hyper mega reversal to counter their super death combo. I play games to have fun and relax, so the appeal of things like RTS and fighting games have gone down significantly for me since then.
