It was fun to watch in parts (some of the CGI was pretty cool, and all the shooting was good) but overall it wasn't really that great.
The Neo/Smith fight scene kinda sucked, it was a really poor 1 on 1, because half the time they were flying in the air and it just really looked pretty crap.

It was a film to watch now and then, but nothing like what I'd hoped for.

Here are my comments. It is just my theory and i am sure i will get blasted but there is not one right theory.

Smith was a replicating virus. His essance was to replicate himself and destroy the structure and boundries that confined him. His orginal programming was courrpted and rewritten when Neo entered him in part 1 thus giving him a new purpose.

Off course the matrix was never perfect, because there is no abosulte 1 except .9999. The matrix still had .0001 that needs to either prevented or solved.

more then once the movie has stated that the archectect and oracle are programs. The oracle program is to ensure the stablitly of the matrix operating system by finding a solution to the unknow anomoly. While the arachect program is to ensure the stablity of the matrix operating system by preventing the problem from ever becoming possible.

The oracle and the archetect is not playing a game but instead is working within its subroutines to ensure the stablitly of the matrix OS.

I think the complexity of the programs and thier level of Aritificial Inteliegence has reached a point where self-awareness was part of the sub-routine.

Did the matrix become perfect? No because the machine will tell you that .0001 of unknow will always exist.

As for the triliogy being pointles. The cycle was stopped. The archectet himeself informed that the cycle was continuous before this One person came to be. This "one" person finally put an end to the endless cycle.

Perhaps one of the strongest flaw to this entire triliogy. . . why the heck didnt the machine just move to another planet. They didnt need earth. Yea earth was covered in black smoke heck they can simply move. Could have developed solar panals in orbit. Guess the Artificial Intiliengence failed to reconize that posiblity and offerd it at the UN council before war broke out. (refrence to Animatrix)

the 1 on 1 reminded me of dragonball (without the KAMEHAMEHA). but anyway the effects in the rain were cool (specially the "explosions").

No amount of theory can account for just how bad this movie was... Should have stopped at the first one...

Yeah It would be nice for us to Thoerize on the plot but, it was so reworked... changed.. and hacked toghether.... there is no justifing even wasting the time...

Smith was the only real threat to the Machine world... not Neo... Not the Humans.. Smith wanted it all for no apparent reseon, he just did.... Neo was Played by the Oracle to do her bidding and play the game... Until at least Smith was a threat to her, then she uses Neo to stop Smith and save the Machine World...... Kind of convienient that the oracle is someone completely different in this one (OK so the actress that played her really did die..) and has to "make a change" and "tough choice". Basically it was all just a game that the Oracle and the Architect played until Smith got out of Control... then it wasn't funny anymore... In the end the Oracle is the one that actually destroys Smith... but it is never made clear how...

So... In the end Neo is Dead (and Blind) Trinity is Dead, The Machine World Goes on as If nothing Happend, Happily cranking out little human batteries, with the exception that they promise to leave the Humans that live in the hole in the ground alone, and let other unhappy human batteries leave the Matrix and go live in a hole in the ground too. WOO HOO!!! Neo really kicked some Machine ass and the Humans came out on top of that one..

Basically... That makes the whole Trilogy pointless... Neo and the Humans are right back where they started (except Neo is blind and dead.). Actully less than that.. Oh sure the machines will leave them alone in thier hole in the ground, but they could have had that if they didn't bother to come out of the hole in the first place... Now they are still in the hole but, there is allot less of them and the place is a mess...

At first you might think that Whoa! brilliant piece of writting for the oracle to be using Neo to sniff out Smith who was the anomoly and the one all along, and then use the humans against themselves to make the matrix better... What a mind job.....

Well I wish it was the case... It's the final closing scene that destroys all three fils in one fell swoop.. There are no answers, there is no resolution....

There in the bright rising sun, three computer programs chat it up, The Oracle and The Architect sum up three movies worth of plot in a fashion that I can only equate to Mortimer and Randolph Duke settling their one dollar bet in Trading places... even then there is hope... until the Oracle delivers the line that leaves it all up for Matrix 4..... Then it's done... that clinches it...

The ending is nothing more than the Hollywood machine primimg it's pumps to milk movie goers all over again.. That's when the stench sets in and you realize that the entire third movie is just a stinking hack job, that when you see the plot and charcter changes for what they are... Irrelevent and meaningless.....

Yeah.. The matrix Trilogy is over allright.. They killed it.... The ending of this one strips away any intrpretation, symbolism, or mystery of the Matrix Series... It turns the whole thing into homginized, prepacked, Hollywood commercial piece of crap..

I can't agree more with the Rolling Stone Reviwer...

As for the big-payoff ending -- the equivalent of a Viking funeral -- it reduces the Wachowskis' take on the Judeo-Christian ethic to Hollywood gloss. Cueing the music, the sunshine and the hint of another sequel can't distract us from the fact that nothing is revealed. Neo, dude, you blew it.

It is defineitly a rotten tomato.. Someone give me a Blue Pill so I can forget it ever happend...

Ill keep your post in mind when i see it...

p.s. You had me on the floor in stitches reading your post....

Did you see them try to chase Neo through the sky? they couldn't, it shorted them out, so they were stuck on the planet

My thoughts... I will be extremely brief because I'm in a rush:

I hated the ending. Hated it. They don't explain jack sh*t about what the hell is going on, why all the Smiths suddenly explode. Why does Neo decide to let Smith take over his body, what role does the Oracle apparently... and then they give it another open-ended ending.

The fight with Smith was short and uninteresting. I could have pieced the whole thing together from previews

some people will never be satisfied.

lol.

ok so u basicly went to see a movie that u hated to begain with on opening day. Then you cry about it because its a story that you didnt like even in part 2.

So your statment basiclly said it was great untill they messed it up by making sequals.

sequals are money milking tools. An system for a mean.

you look at the glass. u can identify that it contain water or it dosnt. u can argue its half full or its half empty. It is even better if you can support your argument on that glass of water being half full or half empty if you have prrof for your theory.

Your true argument the movie sucked because its a sequel.

Its like ur arguing that glass is half full because its another glass of water that you never really cared if its empty or full. But yet its a paradox because you took the time/money to make that claim that its half full.

Has anyone seen the actress who played Trinity? She is chubby now.

Anyways, wondering if it is worth watching in order to understand some of the comments made on this thread.

I agree 100%.. it was a great origonal idea.. they milked it and tried to play too many twists.

When Neo hangs up the phone after saying he doesn't know how it's going to end.. that should have been it.

Maybe that's because Carrie-Ann Moss was pregnant?

I know she is pregnant. I just couldn't beleive how chubby she had gotten. Must have been from the sex scene in the second movie.

i don't know, i find the following (which actually is the OP of a thread) pretty retarded also.

why do ppl always insist on starting religion threads?

its so damn pointless. beliefs are personal. you believe what you want to, period.

it reminds me of this south park quote:

The latest intake to Hell are standing there waiting for Satan to give his welcoming address. Some of them are complaining:

- "Hey, what am I doing here? I've lived a good Christian life".
- "Me too, what has God got against Jehovahs Witnesses?".
- "Surely, as a Buddhist, I shouldn't be here?".

Satans MC answers "You all chose the wrong religions".
- All: "What was the right religion?"
- MC: (flicks through his notes) "The Mormons. The Mormons was the correct answer".
- All: Oooowwwh.

That is one hell of a summary. Perfect imho. The first movie is still good but the next 2 are crap. Yes I was one of those spouting a Matrix within a Matrix. They could definitely have done more & better with that idea. Science Fantasy my azz.

To 'attempt' to answer the questions you posed above:

1.) The Smith program exploded or was erased because Neo allowed "them" to jack into him while he was hard wired to the machine. The machine then had full access to the Virus code and just eradicated it.
2.) Neo let Smith take over his body b/c basically that's what the Oracle told him to do. She planted code in the 'Smith' virus to remind Neo that every beginning has and end right when he was beaten by a superior program.
3.) Don't understand what you're asking about the Oracle's role.

And in summary I agree with you, see my previous 2 posts. I hated the movie also.

For all of those still in the dark on why all the Smiths blew up, it was because their program ended/completed. They were deleted.

Overall, I liked the it, but the ending was horrible. I did notice the cross stuff during the last fight and that kinda bugged me.

I don't see what's so bad about the ending. Call me ignorant, but I think it closed things up nicely. I thoroughly enjoyed Revolutions.
