Well I had some edge-credit and gamestop.com now accepts it, so a few days ago I preordered it there with overnight shipping. Says it should come tomorrow, on the street date. I hope so. I've never bought a game off gamestop.com

Going to the "VIP Konami Event" tonight down in LA at 10PM. David Hayder will be there along with several other people who were involved in the creation of the game (no Kojima--he's in NY). Super excited! Will take pictures and such.

Sorry--had to brag.

There are plenty of other games to keep you occupied until you can find this at Blockbuster (and it isn't rented out). Do you like FPS? Play CoD 4 online, that'll keep you occupied for a while.

I also own the 360 and I have played COD4 to death, u can call me jaded by all games FPS. Same goes for the Splinter Cell games which are in my absolute top 5. So I was thinking MGS4 would fit nicely being as it is the King of Stealth Games...

This game sort of snuck up on me. I'm still surprised that I'll be picking it up tomorrow.

Also, does this game support rumble? I'm thinking about finally picking up a DS3 controller as well.

I don't know if that is such a great idea. Perhaps you should at least read up on the backstory and the plot of the other three games? Out of the four, this one seems the least friendly to newcomers.

Played through the first act tongiht.

AMAZING game. If you aren't a fan of the previous metal gear games, not much here will change your mind, but if you were, this game blows the others out of the water.

Warcrow, do you actually work or have a life outside of games? It seems like every time a game with a midnight launch is released, you've got a copy of it... I'm not judging, I'm being envious.

Hehe--I do work full time actually. I didnt get home until 2am. But I got an invite from Konami to attend the LA "VIP Press Event". I;ve turned these down in the past, but my curiosity got the best of me--so I went. It was really fun! They had an open bar, Baja Fresh/Italian buffet, 5 Kiosks with MGS4 running, a 70 inch Bravia looping in-game cutscenes and just about everything else you can think of that would be at that kind of event. There were probably 40 other people there including David Hayter, Ryan Payton (Assoc. Producer), and one other guy (Ass. Producer) who worked on the game. I got to chat with David about the the script writing work (X-men, X-men 2, Watchmen). He's a really nice guy and totally loved doing the drops for the Podcast. Ryan was being pulled in 12 different directions. I talked with him for about 20 seconds, but he just had to go. I wanted to ask him what it was like working with Kojima.

Also, Adam Sessler was there and I cannot beleive how (REALLY!) short he is. There were some other jurnos there from various outlets. It was a lot of fun. I think I'm going to have to go to more of these in the future!

I'm pretty tired today here at work though.

What exactly do you do for a living and how did you get into these events?

Ok, so quick first impression here:

  • * This game has the greatest installation of this generation of consoles.
    * All the screenshots and video that you've seen do NOTHING to justify just how gorgeous this game is on an HD TV. It's stunning in visual fidelity, structure, design, and the animations are flawless. The beauty in the subtleness will make you say "wow".
    * Dont even think about playing this game with anything else than a DualShock 3.
    * I can tell that experimental players are going to have SO much fun with this game.
    * Having the ability to output the codec messages to a Bluetooth headset is really freak'n cool!
    * Oh yes, and "Monkey Steals The Peach"!

They were probably there to try to score the mgs4/ps3 80gb bundle.

Managed to score one here at the gamestop.

Sweet, I just went to blockbuster and since it's release date and they are lazy SOBs, they still hadn't opened the envelope containing their 2 whole copies of the game. Now I can do my kickass 40 day rental of the game for $6.46. Muhahaha

GS was also the only place to get the limited edition. Even if you preorder, they've been known to give yours away or not receive enough.

More than any other game in history. Go to wikipedia and then go to gametrailers.com and watch their MGS Retrospective. It's 5 parts and about 2 hours long. Its kinda like the cliff note version and still that long.
