•A redesigned Home: We’ve redesigned Home to surface your most-used Xbox content. You can scroll vertically to see your recently played games with deeper information about the content and games you are using. You can see game DVR clips, achievements and add-ons for your games and can also quickly discover new content.

•A new guide: Gaming must-haves like friends, party invites and messages can be accessed directly from Home or while in a game. Scroll left from Home or double-tap the Xbox button while in a game and the guide will slide over on the left side of the screen. From here you can access gaming must-haves like your friends list, party invites, messages, and notifications.

•Community section: We’ve expanded upon the current Friends section so gamers can more quickly and easily access all their social activities. This includes the Activity Feed to see the latest updates from friends and game developers as well as What’s Trending on Xbox Live to interact with the most popular games and content currently on Xbox Live. Scroll right from Home to see what games your friends have been playing, interact with their posts and see the top things happening on Xbox Live right now.

•Xbox Avatars: We saw the passion from the community toward Xbox Avatars and are excited to bring them back in a more prominent way on Xbox One. We are modernizing the look of avatars with better image quality, keeping all the familiar customizations fans loved on Xbox 360.

•Cortana comes to Xbox One: On Xbox One, Cortana becomes your personal gaming assistant. Cortana helps you elevate your game, gets smarter over time, and works across all your Windows 10 PCs, tablets and phones (Cortana will also soon be available on iPhone and Android phones). Through voice commands on Xbox One, Cortana will assist you to more quickly find great games, new challengers and friends on Xbox Live, or accomplish common tasks. Cortana can also help you get achievements by surfacing videos and information to help you succeed. Working across Windows 10 PCs, tablets, phones, Xbox One, and iPhone and Android phones, Cortana can assist you wherever are you are – like setting an important reminder from your phone to receive on your Xbox One when you log on at home. Cortana will launch first in the U.S. and the U.K. on Xbox One this fall.

watched part of the halo 5 video yesterday, and the pacing of it just doesn't feel "halo'ish" to me. it feels too fast paced to me and frantic. the things i remember about halo is just the slow methodical pace and floaty world. now it reminds me too much of cod pacing wise.

i do love the environments though. now THAT still looks very halo'ish.

either way i'm sure i'll buy it. i've always had a place in my heart for the halo campaigns, although part 4 was pretty underwhelming.

Hmm...it didn't seem that fast but then the old games were slow to begin with. Spartans are supposed to run at 30+ mph. So it should be a fast game in my mind. The game looks fantastic either way and I can't wait to see the story from both sides.

All welcome updates except I don't care about avatars. The new interface that puts the latest info about your games in a quick access menu is pretty much how the ps4 does it. You scroll to a game and below it is the latest news, clips from friends, trophy info etc. I like the idea to see how many of your friends play and what they are doing in a particular game.

Here's the thing. FPS's have kind of evolved at this point. After playing TF and AW for a bit, when I try to go back to MW2 or BO1 (my all time favs from COD), they feel extremely slow. Halo needs to evolve with the rest of them or get left behind. They gotta capture the new kids that will be playing as well.

Gameplay wise, I found Destiny to have better gun control than Halo 4. It felt like Reach with some twists. I guess I shouldn't be surprised since it was Bungie after all.

I'm more existed about the Destiny Expansion with 3 new sub-classes than I was over the Halo 5 gameplay. I really hate squad shooters because they make you "lazy" if the AI isn't tweaked right. Have your squad suppressing fire while you flank. Rinse repeat. But then again, Medal of Honor/Brothers in Arm is probably not the best games to use a squad based shooter.

Oh well, after MCC and 343's handling of it (especially their lack of communication) I guess my expectations are low coming in. Here is to them making me eat some crow. Halo Reach was the last real Halo.

I agree, Destiny had very tight, impressive gunplay. The core of the game is really good. The rest is just crap, IMO. I didn't find the settings to be that interesting, thought they were kind of boring. The social aspects were a big flop, to me. The gameplay content was lacking. The story was laughable. There was just nothing to go with good mechanics to make the game impress me. Instead, I got into the beta, played until about level 8, and was incredibly bored. I've watched people play it a few other times, and it was so underwhelming.

TMCC was a mess, but the Guardians beta played well, so I have hope. I don't mind the pacing, if they compensate properly. My problem with H4 was adding sprinting and jetpacks and such, but not compensating with level expansion. The game played fast because the maps weren't expanded to match the faster pace. Take Haven, for example. You can probably get into a gunfight from any point on the map in 5 seconds or less. That's great for ADHD kids who hate strategy and downtime, but it increases spawn killing and makes it harder to win gun fights in a bad way (having people respawn quickly and immediately jump you again).

So, I'm hoping we have more large maps. It's a problem CoD AW had as well, making the game much after, but not increasing level scale to match.

I loved Destiny, still do. The one thing that keeps me from playing is RNG. Their RNG is the worst on the planet bar none. People who already have the best weapon in the game get it again and again. People who want to get it once never do. I got multiples of some really nice weapons and people were jelly. I went rage mode when a friend of mine got the one gun I wanted for the 3rd time. Screw that.

Plus they keep changing the way you level, making it easier with each expansion to basically buy your way to level. I don't know if that has changed but with the base game you had lv30 cap but you needed gear from the raid. The next game you had lv32 cap if you had gear from the new raid. However, you could get to lv31 without doing any raids at all and just spend marks at an NPC to buy gear. That kind of bugged me a bit too. People didn't have to raid over and over to get to lv30 like I did. Lots of people had no clue how to even do the raids and were sitting at lv31.

I wish they would do something with the store on Xbox one. It sucks compared to the ps4 store.

On ps4 you can filter the shit out of it. I can't even filter stuff by price on Xbox one or release date. It's pretty stupid.

I think they will when they do the update to the home screen and all that. At least they should.

The store is just painful to use. You can't sort anything and it gives me a headache trying to use it

I have the hardest time finding the XBL Gold discounts and free stuff unless it's linked from the home screen.

Also just saw that the Elite Wireless controller is going to be $150 when it releases in October. Holy moley..I don't think I've ever spent that much on a peripheral. I do like all the adjustments you can do though.

That's what I'm saying, the store is a mess. If it's not on the home screen god only knows where it's at in the store

I guess I don't notice because I use Xbox.com for all of my store browsing. They have a link to the DWG and GWG on the site, and I do the GWG claims from the site whenever I'm on the computer. I guess that's because doing it on PC is always going to be quicker, and the UI is annoying to navigate.

lol $150 for the elite controller? that makes $200 for the TE2 seem like a bargain. (considering how much those parts cost if you purchase them separately and and built one yourself).

This thing is for the Hardcore fps players that are already buying modded controllers with buttons mapped to the back already. Why not make an official one to tap into that market? Tbh though, with the PR help tha MS needs, the price for the controller should be no more than 100.00. I'll prolly get it though, paddle shifters in the bottom sounds awesome, and I do play a ton of FPS

Yeah I don't think I can bring myself to spend $150 on a controller. I mean, I'm not going to become pro by using it nor will I suck if I don't have it. Rather put my money toward a TE2 fgor PS4 in anticipation of SF5 to be honest.

If it came with a newer, high-end title, I'd buy it. $90 for that controller (if a $60 game came with it) would only be a $30 price premium for a controller with a lot of nice features.

yeah.

but hey, i'm sure there are millions of FPS players who think spending $200 on a joystick for a game or two is stupid as hell too lol.

True. However for me I feel I get something of an advantage with a fightstick or am not at a huge disadvantage if I don't have it. Where as with this elite controller, I don't think I will benefit from it the same way. If someone thinks it'll help them then yeah, get it.

I mean, I'm of the mindset that both prices are pretty insane. The reason I would vote in-favor of the Elite controller (minus the general $50 price advantage) is that you're getting a controller to help with a plethora of games, if you can take to that style of play. The fight stick, you're talking SF5, MKX, and maybe a few future fighters, I guess.

But hey, this is America. It's YOUR money. Use it when YOU need it.

No doubt. I just can't see the real disadvantage you are at with the normal controller. For a fighter, especially street fighter or killer instinct having a fight stick gives you a leg up that I don't believe is there with the elite controller. Using the dpad for some moves is quite daunting and it is effortless with a stick. At least to me it is.

Speaking of fighting games. Microsoft announced killer instinct will come to PC with cross platform play.

That is the same with every MMO-like game. They have to provide an easy way to jump up in level or they keep alienating players from new content. There is no way they can expect everyone to run raids so they can level up to see the brand new content. They'd whittle their user base to only the hardcore in a matter of two or three expansions.

yeah sure there are more FPS games than fighting, but the lifespans of fighters last MMMUUUCCCHHH longer than FPS games do.

sf4 came out in 2008 and it's still being played as much, if not MORE than it was 7 years ago. people can't remember what fps games came out in 2008.

just depends on what you play. i have put probably 1000x more time on my TE2 on xbox1 than i have on the standard controller.

fighter wise, its sf5, mkx, killer instinct, tekken, and guilty gear. doubt we'll see much more than those any time in the near future.
