I did a search for MLB, but didn't see a thread for this season.

Opening day was last night and the Padres won over the Dodgers.

Over on ESPN, predictions for the champs this year included St. Louis, LA Dodgers, and the Red Sox. What are your picks this year?

Anyone going on to an Opening Day game today? I'll be watching my Rays play the Jays on Sportsnet on cable.

What I hope for every year

A's top SP is injured for the season and I don't see Billy Beane acquiring an impact player at the trading deadline due to limited financial resources. That of course is the Giants' fault for blocking the moving trucks from driving south. A's will probably lose to the Tigers again in the first round.

Dammit, I should go to the A's home opener but it'll be cold, wet and miserable.

Welp. Trout, Price, Cano had good opening days. Reyes not so much. And the great Vlad Guerrero signed a one day deal to retire with the Angels. Link

The 39-year-old Guerrero hasn't played in the majors since 2011. He spent six of his 16 major league seasons with the Angels from 2004-09, winning the 2004 AL MVP award and earning four of his nine All-Star selections.

Guerrero began his career with eight seasons for the Montreal Expos and finished with single years in Texas and Baltimore. He played briefly in the minors for Toronto in 2012, and was out of baseball last year.

Guerrero leads all Dominican major leaguers with 2,590 hits, also finishing with 449 homers and 1,496 RBIs. He had 12 seasons with at least 25 homers.

He never batted lower than .290 in his final 15 seasons despite a well-known penchant for swinging at balls outside the strike zone. Guerrero hit above .300 for 12 straight years.

How many were even there? My brother and sister went.. meant to ask but never got around to it.

I wish I worked in the city (SF or Oakland) sometimes. A cheap hour of baseball during the day games on my lunch break would be nice.
