MVP - Rivera? If not, who should get it? Matsui? Jeter? A-Rod?
I'd go Matsui or maybe even Pettitte
<cough> Texiera <cough>
Power hitters are streaky by nature.
Care to guess what the infinitely great Willie Mays lifetime WS batting average was and how many homers he hit?
How 'bout .239 in 20 games and 70 plus at bats with zero homers?
And Willie Mays was the best ballplayer I ever saw, ever.

Definitely all true .. It wasn't JUST that Howard wasn't hitting. No one in the top of the order was truly consistent. Chase had a lot of great ABs, Werth had a few good swings.. they just couldn't put the offense together. No run support for their starts was bad, no run support for their lackluster closers was even worse. Seems like they used up all their juice against the Rockies/Dodgers. Or simply that they hit a cold spell right as the Yankees poured on the power.
It's true that they do have a great revenue stream. I'm not sure what's with the misdirected anger though. For those of you who want a salary cap, go cry to MLB and the players union. The Yankees are playing within the rules - if they can afford to spend more, why shouldn't they?
The "rules" suck. And baseball has a weak commissioner by design, otherwise they'd have been changed by now.
The national media coverage of the Mets and the Yankees has ALWAYS been WAY out of proportion to the rest of the majors. Slightly better than mediocre Yankees have always been far better known than much better players on small media market teams.
Finally, please don't mistake heavy sarcasm for misplaced anger.
Woah yeah, that title is pretty awesome.

Well, much as I hate to say it, the better team won.
