MVP - Rivera? If not, who should get it? Matsui? Jeter? A-Rod?

Tough call really. Matsui didn't play in all the games so I don't know, but his hitting in the games that he did play was just fantastic. Jeter? Nah, I don't think so. A-Rod? He started cold but heated up when it mattered. Tough call really.

I'd go Matsui or maybe even Pettitte

Should have included him, his two starts were key. The best players in the series have really been Cliff Lee & Utley, but can't reward either of them. I bet they'll go with Rivera since he'll end up with 3 saves (and the last out in all 4 wins).

<cough> Texiera <cough>

Power hitters are streaky by nature.

Care to guess what the infinitely great Willie Mays lifetime WS batting average was and how many homers he hit?

How 'bout .239 in 20 games and 70 plus at bats with zero homers?

And Willie Mays was the best ballplayer I ever saw, ever.

Yeah, Tex was terrible. I think his crappy play was only overshadowed by that moron Cano at 2nd.

Pretty surprising stats for Willie Mays, btw.

Definitely all true .. It wasn't JUST that Howard wasn't hitting. No one in the top of the order was truly consistent. Chase had a lot of great ABs, Werth had a few good swings.. they just couldn't put the offense together. No run support for their starts was bad, no run support for their lackluster closers was even worse. Seems like they used up all their juice against the Rockies/Dodgers. Or simply that they hit a cold spell right as the Yankees poured on the power.

Victorino didn't really get anything going from the 2-hole.

It's true that they do have a great revenue stream. I'm not sure what's with the misdirected anger though. For those of you who want a salary cap, go cry to MLB and the players union. The Yankees are playing within the rules - if they can afford to spend more, why shouldn't they?

The "rules" suck. And baseball has a weak commissioner by design, otherwise they'd have been changed by now.

The national media coverage of the Mets and the Yankees has ALWAYS been WAY out of proportion to the rest of the majors. Slightly better than mediocre Yankees have always been far better known than much better players on small media market teams.

Finally, please don't mistake heavy sarcasm for misplaced anger.

The rules do suck. It's not like the Phillies don't benefit from them to a degree.

Sorry, wasn't trying to suggest you were angry. Just came from a Yankees message board teeming with trolls, so I've heard it all tonight.

I have to say... the Phillies are a really scary team. You always feel like they can come back in a game with that lineup.

Congrats to the Yanks. But for Brad Lidge, we could be heading for Game 7.

/MLB needs a hard salary cap
