Is the thermal scope like ACOG, where you can't steady it? Silencer, cold hearted, and thermal will be a sick hardcore setup.

The thermal scope is more like a standard sniper scope, which can be steadied. It's far better IMO actually - it can be a little hard to follow sometimes because the environment isnt as obvious, but it makes everyone stand out so much better than its totally worth it. Seeing through smoke is also a huge benefit in domination or anything objective based where people pop smoke all the time. Cant see through grass though.

Question about the controversial level. Haven't played the game yet, but from what's been leaked about the airport stage, wouldn't a scenario like that usually prompt whoever is undercover to call in the big guns? Like, if you were undercover in a drug operation and you knew exactly when and where something big was going down, that's usually when you would stage some sort of bust. Guy had Makarov in his sights and did nothing. Is there a good reason for this?

It will make more sense when you see it, and the context of that scene is crucial.

I don't understand why companies can't even atleast throw in some coop stuff. The whole one man army stuff only goes so far with believability.

I thought all the spec ops stuff was coop? Of course I don't think it's splitscreen.

Its online, or offline splitscreen. Or solo.

I'm having a really tough time with some of them solo - It doesnt seem to get any easier when you do it alone, so theyre really tough.

Theyre really cool missions though, a good variety. Havent seen the last few because its really hard to get enough stars solo to get to the 4th and 5th levels.

Another interesting tidbit...as a sniper, you dont start with a ghille suit for every environment. You start with the regular bushy one, but you only wear it in maps that are appropriate. You have to unlock the arctic, urban and desert ghilles/camo through a challenge that involves getting a number of one shot sniper kills.

If you're wondering what desert ghille is, it's sorta carpet like, but makes you decently harder to see out in the sand. (Assuming its the same from SP) Arctic is white leaves on your back. Havent seen urban yet.

Way cool! Glad they axed the ACOG on sniper rifles, that gets annoying in CoD 4.

I have it pre-ordered at a Gamestop, but then ordered from Amazon because I realized that I won't stay up and play it once I get home. Better to get the $20 off a future game (ME2 or AC2) and have it delivered to work, thank stay out late and go home to sleep instead of play.

I did the same thing you did. But I work from home, so I can play it as soon as it's delivered on Tuesday.

Though last time I ordered a game for release day delivery it didn't come until Wednesday.

Heh, I saw those MW2 energy drinks at sams club yesterday. They're Monster: Assault with new labels. Pretty good stuff IMO

Cold blooded is an awesome perk...not only do you not show up on UAV, you don't glow white in thermal, air support like helis ignore you, and people controlling predators can see you. The pro version even removes your name. It's far easier to camp a good sniper spot and stay there...very, very cool.

The pro versions sounds hard to unlock, you have to kill 40 enemy killstrEak rewards. but it's not actually 40...you seem to get more credit for helis and harriers and such...it's only took a few rounds to unlock.


Did I mention the thermal scope owns? I've been doing so much more damage as a sniper with it.

+1, although I'm less than fond of snipers as well...but I suppose they're necessary.

I normally only snipe on a few maps. It's just a nice change of pace for me sometimes.

I sure hope they did something to ease the latest trend in COD4 of everyone running around using sniper rifles as shotguns... they aren't usually very effective it's just annoying as hell.

Could it be that they wanted you to destroy 40 equivalent levels of killstreak rewards? So when you take down a heli or something you're credited w/ the 5/7/etc levels it took to get that. Not sure, just thinking out loud here.

snipers are always useless in objective games. They are ok if you play TDM but totally useless otherwise. I owned people so hard in COD4.
