Glen is attempting something most people wouldn’t even consider, and some of you may think is impossible. He is trying to reach level 70 without killing a single person on the PlayStation 3. That means no weapon use, and lots of dying on his part.
So far so good. In two hours he managed to reach level 5. He currently sits at level 11. He has died 272 times. Originally he was relying on a riot shield and flash bang grenades, but flash bangs could still kill someone with very low health so he stopped using them.
According to Glen:
Things have picked up a bit since I can get challenge points. In an average Demolition game I get about 1,000 XP and 15 deaths. I have decided not to use special grenades; they’re too risky. I’ve also decided to play Headquarters and Capture the Flag when I unlock them.
So if you load up Modern Warfare 2 over the next few days look for a Mr_No_Kills and watch his no kill strategy in action.
Hahaha, that is awesome.
Meanwhile, I was trying to play some Domination last night and the other team made me their bitch. I mean like I was dying within 30 seconds of spawn. They had the high ground at the sub base and generally had at least 2 of the flags at any given time. Ouch. I ended up just dropping, no point since I wasn't staying alive for any amount of time...
I also tried sniping a bit. It didn't go too poorly actually. Definitely have to work on my aim, and whooboy does the Barrett kick. I need to try some of the other rifles and see if they're a bit easier to control.
I've started a new pseudo-routine (when I can) of playing 1 game before work in the morning. It gets me started on the right foot. On today's game I was on Highrise, one of my better games simply because I got almost no killstreak reward kills. I went 31-9 and only 2 of my kills were from killstreaks (I got predators twice, one yielded one kill, the other took out a harrier the other team got from a care package). Tried putting my newly unlocked extended mags on the ACR, it works really well but honestly I think it's probably a waste of an attachment, I think there was maybe one kill the entire game that required me to dip into those last 15 rounds in the mag without the chance to reload.
scar-h w/extended mags is one of my favorite setups, especially since it's iron sights are so durn good. But i agree, i've never seen a need on any other weapon.
Do you play on the ps3 or 360 malak?
Ahh, guess we shant meet on the digital field of battle then.
You know, sometimes I feel like I'm in an action movie when I'm playing really good. The enemy is running and gunning while I'm poking my head out to pop them quickly. Only thing that would make it perfect is the ability to dive and roll. Or some Max Payne side dives while shooting, that would be epic.
I had a similar game last night. Playing TDM on Crash, and I had planned on it being my last game so I just went nuts. Marathon, lightweight, commando, UMP D. Eagle/Tac Knife was my load out.
I couldn't kill anyone to save my life. I'd turn a corner and see a guy that I could easily knife, so I click in the stick lunge at him miss then get blasted in the face with a Spas. This happened at least 10 times. I dashboarded it by the time I got to 3-21, just couldn't take it anymore.
If you like the ACR, one of the LMG's fires the same. Takes forever to reload but the huge mag capacity means you should be able to survive an engagement without needing to reload. I'm not sure which one it is, I think the middle one.
I used the ACR a long time, it is a very popular gun. The evolution of my choices started with the Scar, then the Aug, then the M16, then the ACR, and now the UMP45. There was a reason I switched guns each time.
The Scar has a pitiful mag capacity. A constant annoyance and cause for more than a few deaths. The Aug solved that in good fashion, and for an LMG reloads pretty quick. Even with the grip, the thing can kick a bit. This lead me to using the M16. Accurate and powerful, overall it is a fantastic weapon. The one strength it has over the other guns is also a weakness, the burst fire. At mid-long range this is great, but in CQB it sucks. This lead me to the UMP45. Just as much damage as the M16, just as little recoil as the ACR. The only downside is range but I took this out of the equation by change my strategy in games. I roam around and stay out of the open. The gun works better than any other gun I've tried exactly for that purpose, and I get fantastic scores.
The ACR and UMP45 are probably the two most popular guns in the game, and I can see the benefit of both.
I love that. Just getting 5 or 6 kills all in less than like 30 seconds. Feels epic. I love doing it when your team just plants the bomb, take up a hiding spot and just picking people off left and right

Agreed! I started out using the M4A1 for the longest time (just need to finish getting the headshots requirement). I tried using the Scar (stopped using it for the same reason that you mentioned) and the TAR but didn't like it either. I went to M16 after that, but just like your reason, that burst fire gets to be a pain; I think I'd rather just have it as semi-automatic like FAL (which I don't like either). Obviously, I'm using the ACR now.
I do use the AUG when I need to take down air support (it's the primary to the stinger); However, I just hate how slow you are with LMGs. Agreed about the UMP, but I switched from the UMP to the mini-UZI which I absolutely love. I just run around with Marathon Pro and Lightweight (will get pro soon) along with Commando pro. It's quite amusing, running around in circles and taking out people. Only drawback is my thumb hurts after a while from holding down the joystick.
It's the MG4, with a grip it has essentially no recoil, though it's a little weaker than the RPD/L86/AUG and it's the slowest reloading weapon in the game. The RPD has just slightly more recoil and with stopping power is a 2 hit kill at any distance, it's my first choice for an LMG.
SCAR does have a small mag but other than that it's got all the right ingredients. Good accuracy, great damage, decent rate of fire. Extended mags makes a world of difference, although I do fine without. The problem is that people try to use it like an M4 or ACR and spray ammo, if you try at all to conserve ammo and pick your shots it'll treat you like a champ. The SCAR is my favorite weapon in the game.
Uzi is accurate but weak, MP5K is better in almost every way save for full auto accuracy. AUG is pretty nice but I hate the smaller mags. I'd rather use the RPD which has nearly identical accuracy/recoil and a mag that's 2.5x as large. I started running One Man Army with it for 3 second reloads.
Was playing ground war last night in a 9-man party. We were doing domination on Wasteland and rushed to our nearest capture point. Just as we captured it, every one of us died. A guy on the other team lined up a grenade launcher shot from the other side of the map that landed directly on the capture point.
Honestly I think grenade launchers should have a time limit, the grenades should blow after a couple of seconds. Shots like that are ridiculous.
Also, I hope Black Ops doesn't have nukes. I am almost always on the winning side of a nuke, but it's just a joy killer. I have a friend who could probably get a nuke legitly quite often but never uses it, it's just dumb. Even getting an AC-130 or chopper gunner isn't a guaranteed victory, lost a few maps because our best player can't make up for our worst. A nuke is just... dumb.
