It's funny, I thought multiplayer would be like crack for MW2, but Co-op is the only part of this game I play anymore.

Oh yeah if you have the blast shield with it nothing can destroy you! Unfortunately I finally prestiged for the first time so I won't get blast shield for awhile. I've been using it through the preset riot shield class but that class doesn't have smoke grenades so I'm missing those.

One thing that is really annoying me is that I keep getting knifed right through my shield left and right last night. I tried doing the "flash melee" last night with no luck. I'm not sure if it was considered "cheating" or something and maybe it was patched. I run through the motions in open space and it looks like i'm doing it right. But when i actually try it on someone i fail horribly. Tips and suggestions for Riot Shielding would be great.

My overall gameplan with the shield is to cap flags, defend flags and work as distraction for my teammates. I'm definitely not using it to get high killstreaks or even a positive KD ratio. I just want to be a GREAT team player and help out.

I have tried using the Danger Close C4 method with the riot shield but can never seem to get the C4 out and my shield back up fast enough to avoid being shot.

You can rack up a ton of kills and cap a lot of flags with a riot shield but it takes a lot of practice.

First, you need a throwing knife. A grenade takes too long to whip out and kill. A throwing knife will have your shield down for only a split second. Use the throwing knife mainly to chuck at people that dont see you.

Your secondary should be a pistol, I prefer the M9. You can whip out a pistol super fast, and thats key when youre behind the shield. I basically wait for them to pump an entire clip into my shield, then as soon as I see them start to reload, whip out the pistol, gun them down, and throw the shield back up immediately. Akimbo and tac knife are good options for attachments.

Secondary grenade should be a stun, as you can throw it much faster, and then knife or melee them down.

The point is to basically keep your shield up as much as possible, using weapons that take it down and leave you defenseless for a minimum of time.

I use marathon and lightweight to get around, as the shield really slows you down. Perk 3 is either commando or ninja.

Note that these tactics REALLY piss people off. You will be called any and everything online, because people just arent sure how to deal with you.

Yea you get like Matrix knifed by people.

If I'm in that kind of mood (throwing knifes only) I generally do scavenger, lw, commando. This way if I miss I don't have to try and find it, just look for a scavenger bag.

I've gotten some pretty hilarious throwing knife kills this way. I've also been on the receiving end of some too. They always make me laugh.

A recent one was while playing TDM on Storm. I was in that little kitchen building looking out the window by the Semi. I saw a sniper run passed me, stop, then keep running towards that concrete crosswalk near the manikin room. I held down the right bumper aimed slightly up, and by the time I threw it he was already passed that first set of pallets/dumpster. I felt like Steve Young, hit him perfectly in the back, no bounce.

Next one was on Salvage. On the side with the warehouse thing, there was a guy up that lookout tower behind the sand bags. I was climbing over that wall opposite that with the dumpster and gas tank, I hopped down and he killed me. I spawned right near there and the guy had just fired a few shots so he showed up on the radar. I turned so I was aiming at the dot, from behind the wall I chucked it over, and somehow managed to get him. Complete luck though.

I wish there was a way to see kill cams when you get someone like that.

Yeah, it is a damn fun way to play. People seem to act like its some sort of griefing because theres so few people with riot shields and they just dont know how to deal with them.

The key to the tactic is to wait till they reload or otherwise give up on shooting at you. If you try to throwing knife someone whos actively shooting your shield, you wont even get the knife out before you get wasted.

It also helps to move laterally a bit as you approach them that way theyll have a harder time pulling off the ultimate counter...the semtex. As soon as you hear the beep run straight towards them. If the nade is behind you its the only way to get away from it - facing your shield towards it will get you shot in the back. If they stick you, take them with you. If its in front of you just stop...unless youre practically on top of it the shield will absorb the blow.

This is all mainly for free-for-all. Its still very difficult to get on top since you simply cant kill people fast enough even if you've got a good k/d. In team deathmatch, simply being a quality distraction by drawing fire instead of being offensive is usually the best thing to do for the team, even if you dont get the points or the credit you deserve.

I don't see any justification for people being pissed off. My SOLE purpose when playing MW2 is to play Domination or team objective games. I have no care what my KD ratio is or how many killstreaks I call in. I'm strictly there to cap flags and get my team points.

I might try using your secondary suggestion but right now I run cold blooded and use a stinger. I believe I'm the ultimate team player. I use low killstreak rewards like UAV, COunter UAV and care package to help out my team. I then use my stinger to blow anything out of the sky before it even gets settled in and racking up kills. I suppose I could just have that cold blooded class standing by to switch to in case kill streaks come in.

I like using the knife but I'm pretty horrible at aiming it. Since I use scavenger I never have to worry about finding it b/c I'll always pick up another one. I'm only 10 levels away from C4 so I think I'll hold out for it and use it once I unlock it with danger close. Right now I just unlocked claymores and am having a blast with them. I'll sneak up behind people and lay one down only to watch it blow them up instantly!

So I use scavenger, cold blooded/lightweight but probably danger close when it unlocks and then commando. I don't find it necessary to use marathon and lightweight so much b/c I try to stick around either one flag or run patrols on two flags. I'll use my claymores as defense for flags and then smoke grenades when I need to cap them.

But the great thing about this game is that this setup works great for me and your's for you. I almost sold this game and gave up b/c I got tired of knifing and noobers. Then I realized I needed to be more concerned with actually playing the objectives and not worrying about killstreaks. Thanks for all the advice though and I'm definitely going to try your handgun for secondary. I don't have M9 unlocked yet so I'll have to use USP. In your opinion you think the M9 is the best handgun though right? And did you mean that it actually has a quicker draw than the others?

I believe he simply meant that switching from your primary weapon to your secondary weapon is quicker when your secondary weapon is a handgun (i.e. any of the handguns).

I've been playing a lot of FFA lately. I like the large number of kills I can get; it makes getting through weapon achievements pretty easy.

I must say, as nearly pointless as it is, playing FFA on Rust is ridiculously fun. It's just a murder fest, where you're lucky to live for 30 seconds. I enjoy using akimbo SMG's and I think next will be machine pistols.

The last match I had there, some crazy and awesome stuff happened. First, I completely owned with the RPD. I died a lot, sure, but I won the match. I also had Hardline on, so I got multiple predators, a Harrier, and Pave Low!

I'm also pretty sure there was glitching going on. Reloads were instantaneous. I had Sleight of Hand on, but this wasn't just fast, I didn't even see a reload animation; it was just reloaded. The next match with this same group also had a glitch - I was using the M16 and there was no delay between bursts. It was still semi-auto, but no delay. WTF?

All the pistols have the absolute fastest draw time, and that's the single most important thing IMO. You need to be shooting back at them before they even realize your shield is down.

If you use the Akimbo attachment on the Magnum or D.Eagle they're pretty effective. Though if, like me, you do D.Eagle/Tac Knife then if you're out of range to knife someone you're probably dead.

When I get out of work later tonight I'll probably start using either the USP or M9 and see where that takes me.

I hit level 70 a day or two ago, after prestiging a few weeks back. Glad to have my AK back!!

I was cleaning UP last night in FFA. Had my silenced AK and Glock running Sleight of Hand, Hardline, and Ninja. SOH is crucial in most FFA games IMO, especially on smaller maps. That or if you have extended mags.

I initially had my killstreaks set on UAV, Harrier, PaveLow and hit all at least once a match. Then since I was doing so well, I decided to change it up: Harrier, Pavelow, AC130. I'm not one for long killstreaks - I usually get myself killed pretty quickly But not tonight! I rocked that AC130 on Highrise.

And still did well on Strike without a UAV, thanks to the bling AK with silencer and heartbeat sensor.

Well I went ahead and did it - prestiged again. Worked my way up a couple levels in 30 minutes or so. We'll see how far I can go in 7 days until BO comes out

Also thanks Kabob, I got that privacy setting changed and can now hear everyone talking I think I need to turn the chat volume up tho, I can barely hear anything if I don't have a headset plugged in.

Oh I know all about it, but I've never had any desire to use a 10th prestige lobby. Heck, just yesterday I mentioned how the greatest enjoyment comes from leveling and prestiging, why would I want to lose that ability?

Got a little gameplay in today, up to level 7.

I'm enjoying the FAMAS, which I never spent much time with. I need to work on my M4 aiming - I hit people, but I don't get 'em up high enough to kill them quickly. Missing all my damn perks!!!

And how about this shit. Was playing M-TDM and a bunch of us were gathered in one area. Right as the enemy launched a Predator and we all started to scatter, someone threw a stun grenade. He got *FIVE* kills with one Predator. Needless to say, that match was a massacre from then on.

Played a few games last night with the AVS crew and the other team camping and talking lots of smack (and one of 'em using a modded controller). After that first game we didn't let them win again (despite the fact that they switched to noob tubes).

Overall it was a pretty rough night for me, didn't have many great games. Finished off several challenges, still trying to get my 40 penetration kills with FMJ on the M4.
