Hmm, well this is bullshit. I ordered the game through Amazon and chose the free shipping. With Forza 3, this meant it shipped via slow mail on the release date, and I got it the Monday after release. I figured I can wait an extra week to play this game; I have other games to play anyway and it's not worth the $7 or whatever they charge for release day shipping.

Well my copy hasn't even shipped yet. It said the estimated ship date was Nov. 16th (this coming Monday). With Forza 3, it gave the estimated ship date as Monday, November 2nd, which ended up being the day I got it. But MW2 hasn't even shipped yet. And I just noticed that they have a separate estimated delivery date now of November 23rd to December 1st! I know MW2 was a much bigger release than Forza 3, but this is ridiculous. I figured they'd at least put it on the slow boat to me within a day or two of the official release, but now they're waiting an entire week to even send it out? Grr.

What really ticks me off is I used my $10 FM3 gift card to order MW2, and I'm guessing if I cancel my order I won't get it anymore (nor will I have the $20 MW2 gift card Amazon is offering). So if I were to cancel my Amazon order and buy from Gamestop instead, I'd basically be losing $30, possibly in addition to the return shipping cost (since they say I can't cancel my order because it's "shipping soon").

Sorry, weak rant. Go back to enjoying MW2. I'll just play more Forza.

Meh, I have prime, so release date shipping is "free." But even if I didn't, I would pay the extra and look at it like it's that tax that you would've spent elsewhere. My copy was at my doorstep when I got home from work tuesday. :awe:

yea that sucks, but if you are ever concerned about when you will get a game, don't order online, simple as that.

I'm a bit of a camper myself. Since I like to play almost exclusively with a sniper rifle and machine pistol, you'll see me crawling around a lot. One thing I've noticed is there are a LOT of good places to hide. I'm not talking about camping in a corner. I'm talking about laying down in some weeds. Or jumping up onto some weird location that no one would ever look. For instance, last night on that outdoor sub map I found an air conditioner sticking out of the side of a wall up really high. I was able to jump onto it and crouch down. It was right above a busy doorway and also had a good view of a window people passed by. I sat up there and got 12 kills in a row without even being shot. The only reason I got down is I ran out of ammo. It was funny, I don't even think my own team saw my sitting up there. I literally felt invisible.

jbourne, i agree with teh whole veritcalness of this game. the one level that i really dislike partially because of that is quarry. that is probably my least favorite map. i'm starting to enjoy estate more however, but i didnt like it initially because of the verticalness of it.

Yeah, Quarry and Rundown are not very good maps, IMO. They look great, but from a gameplay standpoint they have problems. Like BD said, it's not as bad as WaW. WaW had a jacked up spawn system to "get you in the action" that, instead, "fscked you in the puper".

I'm liking Estate... just stay out of the house. Too many entries/exits. Maps like that, you want to work the perimeter.

Well, I can say that after 25ish hrs of MP, the verticality really becomes less of a problem. You just have to get used to the maps, and you'll realize there's a limited number of viable vertical spots, all of which tend to make you a sitting duck. On certain maps, like favela or Karachi, you simply have to get up high, since that's where everyone else will be.

So when looking at the stats of guns. Do things like Damage compare only to guns in it's class or to all guns.

Like the Damage bar of the M4. Does that only compare to the damage bars or Assault rifles or does it compare to the damage bars of LMG, and pistols etc.

I've had it since Friday, it's only like 5 hrs a day.

I've been told to get a life several times by people on Tuesday though, as they stood in awe of my seemingly impossibly high level.

Nah those people have it backwards, I wish I had 5 hours in a day to play

I'm happy to hear this, as I've not yet given up hope!

A few questions that maybe folks can answer:

1. Do the RDS and Holographic really remove recoil from the AR's?
2. Is the laser from the RDS visible on a Thermal site?
3. Does FMJ only affect bullet penetration through objects, or does it also inflict more damage?

I've seen conflicting claims on all three of these items.

The red dot sight doesn't project a laser onto the target. It's just a dot on the sight itself. So if you're asking if the thermal site would allow you to see laser beams coming from guns, I'm thinking no.

I personally do not mind the vertical nature of some of the maps. Just gotta be smarter than the enemy and keep your head covered.

1. No, because the ARs don't really have any noticeable recoil
to begin with. Shots will spread and lose accuracy when you hold the trigger for some, but it's not recoil that continually climbs the gun and requires you to recenter it. Perhaps the rds might make it seem like less, but it's never really there to begin with with the ARs, with the exception of the semi auto FAL. The smgs really kick when held down, as do the lmgs without a grip.

2. No, not at all.

3. Not that I can tell, although adding it raises the damage bar a tiny little sliver. If it does, it's very slight and not apparent at all.

About #3... I don't know for SURE that it increases damage, but it FEELS like I kill people faster in combo with stopping power.

My favorite perk right now is bling. Having 2 attachments is great.

I really wish they would have had some multiplayer maps based in DC or the suburban areas like the fast food restaurants. Overall the maps are OK, still need to spend some time getting used to them.

I like Bling, too, but all of my loadouts use Scavenger. I run out of ammo so fast without it it's sick!!!

BTW, the P2000 = kickass

Yeah I have the same problem.. in COD4 i always had bandolier set up in my classes. I might give that one a shot. I had to stop using the M4 because that thing unloads ammo WAY too fast.

I loved the F2000 in SP, haven't unlocked it yet in MP i don't think. not sure.

Any Europe-based MW2 players out there? I'm looking to get together a gang to consistently play with, especially CTF and Search & Destroy. I love team-based games, but I'm starting to lose my mind playing with random idiots who have no strategy or common sense, or just camp and don't bother to try and get the flag or bomb. I'd love to get a group together and play as a team enough that we can gel as a squad and kick some ass.

Anybody's welcome but I just specify Europe-based because I'm stationed in Germany so my connection with those Stateside tends to be hit or miss and can sometimes create lag. Either way, just send me a friend invite on Xbox Live (put AnandTech as the message so I know) or PM me on here.

As for #3, I don't think it adds to the damage. Reason I say this is I tried using a .50 cal with a silencer and then the FMJ on there to make up for power difference because of the silencer. I wasn't 1 hitting people nearly as often as without the silencer and no FMJ. In short, I think the FMJ just helps with getting through objects.

I switched from the M4 to the FAMAS for the same reason, and I'm really liking it. I'm getting more long-range kills like I did in CoD 4. And since I don't need my secondary weapon as much I replaced it with a launcher, and I was taking down UAVs left and right. Didn't get an opportunity to try to shoot down a chopper or harrier; I'm not sure if it's one shot like it is with the UAVs. The launchers are a lot more useful than the RPGs were in CoD 4.

I used the standard launcher (not the stinger) on a attack chopper and it didn't take it down with one shot. A teammate shot at it with their rifle and it went down so it was pretty close. I wonder if the stinger takes them down faster?

Can you shoot down your own UAVs? How do you know which are yours? Is there any visual difference between a UAV and counter-UAV?

Your equipment won't lock on to your own UAV. Honestly, taking down UAV's is fun and a quick/easy 50pts. Only problem is that can sometimes be difficult to find in the sky, which leaves you very exposed.

Despite my complaints regarding map design (which really does suck, IMO), I'm loving that they completely shuffled the balance of the perks and such. It's fun exploring them all again for the first time.

FMJ will do less damage than JHP

it should be more accurate though. and penetrate objects better

but thats IRL, not in IW fantasy land

Stinger seems to take most everything but an AC130 down in one shot, although that might have something to do with my using stopping power pro.

Came within 1 kill of a nuke today....ran out of bullets.
