I didn't like the ACR and I don't think it could compete with the Type 95. I use the silencer though which makes the ACR even weaker.

Yah, I tried out the type 95 and it's definitely a beast, but it's three round burst which to me makes it a range weapon. I'm looking for the best all purpose b/c I'm not real good with hip firing with the type 95 in CQB.

Anyhow, what do you guys think about the maps? It seems to me like they were all designed the same. They lack something to make each one unique. There's nothing like a Terminal or Estate, if you catch my drift. It seems run n gun or head glitching behind cover is the dominant play style here.

Perhaps, it's just that I'm not familiar with all of them yet, but they all seem really complicated. So many buildings, rooms, floors, etc.

If I recall, I think after my first match on Jungle or Havanna, I understood them right away. I've played Seaside and downturn a few times, and I still don't understand where everything's at.

I am really liking the maps for mw3 so far. I like that almost every map has 2-3 levels or floors in it to help spread out the combat. So far, I have been doing the run n gun type of playing with the UMP45 and it seems to help me learn the maps rather fast. As for special maps like Estate, I hated a map where 99% of the fight happened in one building. I like that the whole maps are being involved in the fights now.

im using the type 95 at the moment, they really need to patch it. How it got past the alpha and beta stages and still came out that powerful is beyond me.. Hit me up XBLGT Matt Of War

I'm very disappointed in the maps, they are by far the worst in the series. They are all small, confined, and you constantly get shot from behind. Games end too quickly because of this. The maps all favor SMGs. There aren't any long distance shots needed, it's just run around in circles and shoot each other. Also, any large killstreak (say the AC130) is almost useless since there are so many buildings/cover to hide under. I know all maps shouldn't be like Wasteland was in MW2, but come on....MW3 is just too noob friendly. I hope they re-release some old maps.

Agreed. Maps seem to be pretty cramped/crowded thus far. Seems like each one just has a new skin over it rather than be unique.

This is just an initial reaction though, perhaps once I play more I'll enjoy them more.

Yah, ya'll probably right. Just played a few matches and was in a pretty nice groove tonight. It's pretty much mw 2.5 as far as mp go. Another .5 for the campaign and survival mode. Good enough for me. Still a very nice game... Loving it so far.

This thread is interesting. Let's be honest, we all love the game, but we all hate it. We are all happy with it, but disappointed. At the end of the day, is this the best FPS available, yes. Without a shadow of a doubt. With that said though, do we all REALLY hope they take this game to a new level in the near future, a resounding yes. So what exactly do we want?


Do we want maps that allow snipers to be effective again, but limit how often you see people? Do we want weapons to be less accurate? Less killstreaks/more killstreaks? People used to always complain about camping. It seems these types of maps make camping pretty difficult, but now we complain they are to much of a circle and we get killed to quick.


I think the only thing we can be sure of is that we want the spawn system to be changed drastically.


After playing BF3 and this game a bit, I think a nice cross between the two is in order. I REALLY like how BF3 handles the conquest mode. They have huge maps, but only unlock pieces of them at a time. It keeps the maps varied and you can tell they are huge, but not to big so that you barely ever see anyone.


*shrugs* I guess I don't really know what I want. I just know I want more! I'll say this though, I really do miss the old Modern Warfare maps though. I don't know why they don't keep all the old maps in the game (that we have all already paid for) and add in the news maps with them. I would love to be able to play with all the new weapons, strike packages etc on some of the old MW1 maps.

Not to keep harping on the issue but I am still having hit detection issues. I'll unload on a guy and he'll fling around and kill me with what looks like one shot. Also, I'm constantly killed when coming around corners. I've played enough CODs to know that these things happen but they are happening all the time in MW3 for me.

One thing I've read is that disabling "theatre recording" in the options seems to help with the hit detection/lag.

Can anyone comment on whether their setting is enabled or disabled? And if disabling it helped you out at all?

My speed tests are fantastic, 20+mbps download, 1.5-2 mbps upload and ~30ms ping (Speedtest.net).

I'm going to try using hard wired ethernet, and play around with my routher settings (WNDR3700) and see if maybe its something I can fix. I doubt it though because I've never had an issue with any other game over the 8 years I've had Xbox Live.

Nope, same thing is happening to me. My connection is not an issue. People who aren't noticing this just aren't perceptive enough, period.

Just got the ACR and it's a beast..really liking it right now. Favorite Streaks right now: Assault - predator, chopper, strafe.. Support - UAV, Counter, AUAV... Have not used the Specialist.

Right now I'm using the ACR+kick+silencer with blindeye pro + assasin pro + steady aim as my main class.

So, I was in a match and there are boosters for MOAB already. Fortunately, they both left and the game did not end. I proceeded to murder the enemy anyhow.

Thoughts/impressions so far:

- Still really like the maps, but sick and tired of tripping over team mates. This was actually a big problem in COD4 when the maps had the same "funnel factor" that the maps in MW3 have. I wish they'd consider (if they haven't already) removing collision between team mates. Just let us run through each other and it would be far less frustrating. This would ALSO fix...

- ... the game engine throwing up whenever two team mates are trying to run while in contact with each other. You get this god awful hitching (anyone who's played for 2 minutes knows what I'm talking about), and this, too, has been a problem since COD4.

- Strike Package concept is still brilliant. My k/d right now is about 1.8 so I should probably be using the Assault Package, but I've always chosen defense-oriented killstreaks because they boost each individual player (a UAV is probably going to produce more net kills than, say, a Predator Missile). Friends of mine who don't play as much and hover around the 0.5 - 1.0 mark appreciate that they can still contribute to the match even if they can't get a streak going.

- I still much prefer Treyarch's brand of CTF. I hate how MW2 and MW3 periodically update the position of the flag carriers. That's stupid and it negates a perk or two. In Blops you ran Ghost if you intended to be an FC. Idiots who tried to be an FC without Ghost would get butt raped sideways when someone who was saving their UAV for a flag runner called it up. Yes, it speeds the game up, but it removes some of the strategy IMO. I probably will not be playing any CTF in MW3, nor did I in MW2. Sad, because I was a CTF monster in Blops.

- Weapon balance is problematic at best. The UMP is the stand-out SMG, while the Type 95 is the stand-out gun in the entire game. Seriously, wtf? It's COD4's M16 on crack (read: same accuracy and damage, higher ROF). It needs fixed. It's obnoxious as hell to look at and takes up half the screen, so maybe that was their idea of balancing it out.

- Per-class strike packages = AWESOME. Built-in weapon comparison = also AWESOME (hopefully the graphs are accurate this time around).

- Amazed that people still try to steal care packages. Seems like people are catching on, but not as quickly as they should.

This is standard fare criticism for each COD. I remember reviewes and players alike saying this about COD4's maps (and I agreed initially). There was a full blown shit short over MW2's maps (the verticality in them made them a PITA to get used to). I like a few of them, most I detest. Blops has fantastic maps (Summit and Grid are two of my all time favorites, not far behind Crash, Backlot, and Crossfire).

I don't know the maps well enough in MW3 to comment yet (I've learned to withhold judgement), but my inclination is that I like them because they're not the "overdesigned clusterfucks" that the MW2 maps were. Perhaps they feel like they lack character, but all maps do until we get to know their finer details.

BTW, Estate was one of the shittiest maps in all of COD.

I played till past midnight Friday night was at level 41. Turned it on Saturday and saw everything from Friday was gone. Back to level 21. Was so fucking pissed.

On their support site it basically says it happens from data corruption and gets restored to the last good backup. There is nothing they can or will do to restore rank.

Between that and the founders/elite/hardened issues it's really pissed me off.

Took me last nights playing time just to get back and a little past where I was Friday.

This is what happens when you play a game for the purpose of accomplishing something rather than just to have fun.

This used to happen to me during MW2s first few weeks. Turned out to be a bad splitter in my attic. When I would get picked to be host no one could join the g they'd just get stuck at the loading screen and sometimes stats wouldn't get uploade to their servers. It was pretty random but a call to my ISP fixed it.
