Yeah I agree that it looks really dated and basically the same but I am having a ton of fun. I only played MW2 for a couple weeks and didn't get BO at all so it is almost like new to me.

Playing FFA death matches right now. Is that the fastest way to level up? It seemed like it might be but I'm not sure.

That kill confirmed mode looks awesome.

Kill confirmed or domination will get you the most points.

Massive CoD Elite issues. When it comes to screw ups, EA and Activision are equal.

I haven't been playing yet (thanks work) but if you can play MW3 online then they are not equal. BF3 servers were a complete pile of crap almost the first week. Lucky for EA I like BF3 and was willing to suffer through that because when it worked it was fun.

I don't care if elite works well as long as I can play.

I was talking about Battlenet vs Elite.

Ordered it today from Amazon, I was waiting for them to offer a better deal than the $10 off the headset that I wouldn't buy.

8 bucks cheaper + 25 off Xbox live is a much better deal. Sure, I wont get it until Thursday, but so what two days won't make much of a difference in the grand scheme of things.

I haven't been following the news on this game at all. I imagine I will buy the game sometime over the next month or so, but I just checked out my YouTube subscriptions (which are all gaming related, mostly COD), and thought I was watching a MW2 video when in fact it was supposedly MW3.

I never bought MW2, I was one of the few that refused to buy it and actually never did, but MW3 looks exactly the same. I honestly don't think I could tell the 2 apart if I tried.

You can say the same for Battlefield, Uncharted, Mass Effect, Lego Star Wars, Rock Band, Guitar Hero, etc.

Fact of the matter is, there's been a change to multiplayer.

i got a chance to play for a few hours today. Game plays very similarly to past MW's, but what did you expect? From what I've seen, the sniper class is going to be worthless. There are so many twists and turns in these maps, its not like BF3 where you can long distances that make snipers viable and effective. It's very fast paced and fun. The new kill streak packages are interesting. Kill streaks definitely don't seem overpowered like they were in MW2.

All in all though, its the same old MW that we all have come to know and love. Like others have said though, I really hope they look at innovating and pushing the series forward soon, as it's starting to get stale. Still teh best game out though.

... And???

Why do people get so defensive about a game as if they had a personal stake in its public perception? He said the game looks just like mw2, and you respond with other examples as if somehow negates the claim? Fail.

I've played for a few hours and so far I do enjoy it. The maps are the best in the series and the game still looks good. It plays well, too. However, don't delude yourself into thinking there's no foundation to what he said. These tweaks + map pack are enough for most, but not everyone. Wipe your tears and move on.

Anyone interested in setting up an ATCG/AVS MW3 Clan on Elite? And... what advantages are there to actually setting up a clan? Is there anything specific that Elite offers for clans?

I got about an hour in the multiplayer tonight. I've still not adjusted to it, not having played MW2 in months upon months, no Blops in one month+, and only playing BF3 lately.

I need to get used to the game mechanics again, my accuracy and general movement aren't great. I played some Kill Confirmed & TDM.

So far, I do like the point streaks, how kills are quicker than Blops, and sound whoring seems to be back. I'm interested to try out Dead Silence when I unlock it, it should be helpful. I like the point streaks since I'm dying so much right now and will probably continue to use it.

You definitely need a silenced weapon IMO. The action is so much more hectic and close than Blops that if you take someone out, another WILL notice. This is also where guns with larger mags or fast reloads are advantageous.

And UAVs are very common, so a SAM turret and/or Assassin are a bit asset. I've been taking out SAMs like gnats with the SMAW thing, but you only have one missile and I don't know if scavenger refills it. And you need two missiles to take out the advanced UAV, though the A-UAV isn't that much more valuable IMO. It doesn't seem to refresh any faster and only shows direction - not nearly as powerful as the Blackbird.

Looking forward to unlocking more perks and getting silencers on more of my guns. I played around with the entry level LMG and was not impressed. I haven't tried shotguns yet and definitely haven't tried snipers.

So, I've spent a decent amount of time with the game, here's my initial impressions:

At first I agreed with PJ, it felt like CoD 4. Now I think it's halfway between it and MW2. That's not a bad thing, but I still don't think the whole playing experience is nearly as refined as CoD 4 was (but that's in an entirely different league than any other game I've played). The game plays more like MW2 but has much less crap to make you rage. In several hours of game time I've only been killed by a noob tube twice and have yet to be quick scoped. Spawn points aren't awful but they're not perfect. By that I mean once or twice I ran into someone 2-4 seconds after spawning, but in my mind that's still pretty quick. Knifing may be my biggest issue but it's unchanged from any other CoD game. I still don't see how you can survive me shooting you in the head with my .308 caliber rifle only to knife me...guns should trump knives when said knifer is being shot.

The maps may be my biggest gripe. It seems that every single map is essentially a ring with a few routes through it and the goal is to run in circles flanking nonstop. They definitely lack the flow of the CoD 4 maps and may not be as good as the MW2 maps. Several of them I just plain don't like (here's lookin' at you Seatown), but that's an early judgement so maybe they'll grow on me. My favorite thus far has got to be Dome which is sad because in my 40 or so games I've played it's only popped up a single time. It's like the anti-Nuketown.

Weapons feel pretty good, not quite as laser-beam-esque as MW2. My concern is that I think that assault rifles absolutely dominate right now. I've seen a few guys with UMP45's, almost no one with MP5's, and no one with LMGs. LMGs have way too much recoil, I used the MG36 for one spawn and switched. I haven't unlocked the Kick proficiency on any of them yet so maybe that makes a difference, but I can't really think of a reason to choose one over an assault rifle. I found that the CM901 (most kick of any assault rifle I used) to be my favorite weapon, especially after unlocking the reduced recoil proficiency. I don't think it's the "best" rifle, but it's the most fun to use in my opinion. I'm not sure I like the unlock order though. In MW2 you start with the M4 which is great, it isn't until lvl 48 that you get the "replacement" ACR. In MW3 you get the SCAR-L very early and honestly it handles neigh identically to the M4.

Strike Packages definitely add an interesting twist. I don't think the assault package will be used as much as Support, but after playing with all three I think they're actually pretty balanced. The very first offensive killstreak I unlocked (when I was using a default class) was the Reaper. Essentially you are in a UAV and fire down laser-guided rockets for 30 or so seconds. I know I was brand new but MAN, it is freaking hard to get kills. Maybe it's just that weak or maybe my aim was off but I think I got one kill in 30 seconds of the onslaught. I will say that the attack chopper is now one of the better rewards (at least of those I saw). It doesn't do damage at the rate of a Harrier but much more than the chopper did in MW2. With Support I got an Osprey Airdrop once but the match ended before I got to use it. Lots of UAV's, enhanced UAV's, SAM turrets, and Ballistic Vests, and the little gem known as the Support Drone. If you are the kind of player who has trouble getting points this is the killstreak for you (and it's VERY handy for the team). Fly a little chopper and "tag" enemies. When they are tagged they show up on everyone's radar until they die AND they receive a minor flashbang effect. You get points equivilent to a kill for everyone you tag and you get an assist bonus if they are killed. On one TDM game I had nearly 20 tags, that's 2000 points with almost no effort.

I've used the Specialist class quite a bit, it's actually kind of neat. Set Hardline as your #2 perk and you get three bonus perks at 1, 3, and 5 kills and another at 7. This makes getting Hardline Pro easy...really easy.

The differing strike packages work well and will definitely appeal to different players.

I'm not sure I like the weapon sounds, they all seem to be pretty grating, guess that's a minor gripe though.

You level up pretty quickly, at the end of the night with no double XP I was sitting around lvl 23, I'm up to lvl 41 now.

Oh, and Elite is downright broken right now. Couldn't even use the app last night, the website is down, etc. Glad to see my $50 was money well spent.

Honestly if you're a fan of the series you'll like this, if you're not you'll find nothing new or groundbreaking here. Personally, while it'll never be a CoD 4 level game, I think it's the next best in the series.

Stupid question - how many weapon proficiency's can be active at once?

Only one.

I've had zero connection issues thus far (well, except with Elite but, as you mentioned, who cares).

I was just in a game where 80% was quick scoping. Freaking retarded, but let's see how much it stays around.

Weapons: great feel and sound. They look bloody fantastic, too (better than BF3 on the PC, in fact).

Maps: have to disagree with Kabob. They're light years better than MW2's... Only problem is the amount of clutter. Great flow like cod4.

@kabob: noob tubes have been nerfed big time . You almost need a direct hit. Unfortunately, people are resorting to rocket spam instead. Still, the situation is much improved.

Digging the strike package concept

I've been seeing this too,unfortunately.

Elite seems royally FUBAR right now... Registration/activation is a PITA and half the sections have errors.

Just had a few really good matches, and dead exhausted to boot. I think I finally got my MW groove back. Off to bed, must wake in 4 hours...

Had a lot of fun. Kill confirmed is the most fun fps mode ever. There were so many quick scoping snipers in the games I played. Hope they fix that bullshit.

I agree. They need to add a second of lag when you open the scope.
