Are the babalities still required for you to complete the rounds without blocking?

That's what the guides I've read say. Though I haven't done one yet so this is just what I've read.

yea i saw that too hahah johnny cage as a baby was hilarious. and yes, you can't block when you do them. cant block that round.

Do you have to ignore the block button entirely, or just not register a block? Like if you try to do an Xray move but mis-time it a bit, so you end up hitting block just before you do the move.

i'm not 100% certain about this but i THINK that you can't press the block button at all, so you can't do x-ray moves if you want to do a babality. it is just a humiliating way to lose because it means the opponent didn't even have to block to beat you haha, and in this case, not even us an x-ray move or breaker.

I bought this game yesterday at 2:30 PM. I got home and literally played it non-stop until 12:30 AM, for the story mode. I played it so much that I have a blister on my thumb this morning that hurts like hell.

Also the Toys R Us deal is awesome. Not only did I save the $20 off base price, but the free magazine they have (R zone I think) had another $10 off coupon; total savings $30.

Similar story here. I went out and bought a PS3, extra controller, and Mortal Kombat last Thursday. Had one of my buddies over, and we played from about 8pm to probably 5am. Slept for a few hours, then got up and played for another 5 or 6 hours. By the end of it all, our thumbs were so sore. But it was awesome. Haven't had a video game session like that since I was a kid. Picking up a PS3 for Mortal Kombat has rekindled my console gaming passion.

Since then I've picked up the complete GTA4 bundle, God of War 3, NBA JAM, and Little Big Planet. Had some 4-way NBA JAM going the other night. Good times.

That's what I paid as well. The story mode is very well done. However I'm stuck right now fighting Shao Kahn. Some of these boss battles are just so damned frustrating. Not enough to make me stop though... because I seem to get closer every time I replay it.

Just price-matched TRU at Walmart and picked up the game for $40 on the 360. There is a TRU all the way across town, but by the time I paid in gas and frustration with traffic (on the busiest road in town), it was worth the extra $10. I had actually just printed out a screen-cap of the TRU ad from online and I didn't think the cashier was going to accept it at first, but once I explained to him it was the actual ad that would come in the paper, he relented and said I was lucky that I "caught him on a good day". He was nice about it and saved me a trip to TRU, so god speed mr. cashier.

Can't wait to get home and start diving into it. After trading in Killzone 3 yesterday for Portal 2, I've gotten both that and Mortal Kombat for a combined total of $48 after tax.

I agree. I love the story mode, and the final fight with Shao Kahn is extremely difficult. Took me about 2.5 hours to find the right strategy and move set that worked best, but I got it done. I wish he was a playable character.

Or at least playable locally. I remember in MK3 he and Motaro were playable if you knew how to do it.

I'm 99.99% positive I never had the trilogy and only MK3, but there was a special button combo you could do somewhere which enabled Smoke, Motaro, and/or Kahn. I believe it was a separate combo for each character or something. Or a "kool stuff" code followed by something else in the character select screen. I remember playing as Smoke and Motaro vividly, and I'm pretty sure Kahn was possible too. I can't google it now but I'll find it.

Really? I was able to join one the first time I tried it... as long as it wasn't full. I picked one that had ~93 people in it and I joined it fine. Challenged a few people in it, played some games, and aside from the lag once in the game the system worked well enough.

Not sure what your issue is? Do you have a NAT or firewall issue?

No not at all, I play the rest of my xbox games online fine. But for some reason, when I try to join a room on MK9, it keeps telling me that the Mortal Kombat server is unavalible and to try later. Man, this sucks!

I was thinking the other day, it would have been awesome to include some other elements from the Sega version of MK1, such as the legendary intro music with a modern touch (like the stage music). And maybe DULLARD and ABACABB worked in somewhere, maybe written somewhere on some of the stages.

Yeah fighting Shao Kahn with Liu Kang was super duper easy, but fighting him as Raiden was a pain!

I ended up switching the difficulty to beginner for story mode, went back and just stomped him that way. He's just so damn cheesy with his unblockable attacks etc. that after an hour I gave up on regular difficulty LOL.

My strategy with Raiden was pretty simple; just jump over his hammer toss, duck the energy spear, and then teleport and uppercut. When he did the air jump move, just block and then superman when he's on his way back down. Rinse, repeat.

It sounds easy, but actually executing the strategy was difficult. Heck even on beginner story mode level he's still a pain.

Also for anybody that's hungry from Koins, when you get to level 37 with Kabal, you can just keep hitting retry every time you get to half health or so and you get to keep the koins.

Not announced yet, but they did have some classic characters via DLC code if you bought from a particular place. For example the Toys R Us version had a classic Jade code.
