Does anyone who when they are coming out with the new DLC for the game?
I watched the whole national tournament on Spooky's stream. Justin won the whole thing easily.
Ermac, Kung Lao, and Cyrax are hella broken though.
Best park is Ski put the netcode on blast and netherrealm said that the patch will dramatically improve the netcode plus fix the balance issues. Hope they are right.

Skip to 18:30 to hear one of NRS' lead developers specifically say netcode will be dramatically improved in the next patch.
Now stop bitching. :nono:
i don't think they are broken at all, other than cyrax, because he has that bomb loop. kung lao and ermac are just 2 of the characters that seem to have gotten a lot of exposure and people have learned, so they seem that way. imo this game is pretty freakin balanced. and of course the game will have tiers, and for now, it seems that ermac and kung lao (and probably raiden) are top tier.
also if you watched the FR tournament a few weeks ago, cyrax was doing MUCH better in that tourney than he did in this tourney, and that is simply because people have learned how to counter him.
the only thing about kung lao is that he does a ton of damage from fairly simple combos. they have already said that they are nerfing his damage in the upcoming patch, which also includes removing cyrax bomb loop.
another thing you have to remember ... these guys you are watching are the best of the best. LI Joe is probably THE best MK3 player in the country or very high up there. Justin Wong and Floe are just fighting game gods in general so those guys will be good at any game that they put time into.
fwiw i watched a lot of the stream too.
i think another issue right now is that the game is so young and people don't really know how to punish a lot of moves or what pokes and combos are safe and what aren't. all that stuff will come with time.
as far as the netcode, can you give any more specifics? i have heard that skisonic asked NR about this but I didn' hear anymore details other than that.
I, personally, hope they don't patch anything for awhile. If you look at what happened to sentinel in MVC3 you'll see that nerfing something because he is "broken" day 1 is stupid. Once people learned to counter him, he is pretty terrible with the stupid low health.
From watching the PDP stream, I was much more impressed at how good Justin was from the limited time he had with the game.

if anyone cares, the 1.02 patch is out now and live on Xbox 360 and PS3.
it improved netcode TREMENDOUSLY. it is like a night and day difference. i am not sure how the hell they did it but I am extremely happy they did.
i'm now going to actually try and play this game a tad more serious now that it has netcode that works.
it's now pretty comparable to SSF4's netcode. definitely better than MVC3's netcode.
Played it today and it's very unstable in private matches at least. Found no noticeable improvement to lag, but we got disconnected every 10 minutes or so because we became "unsyncronized". This has never happened before. It used to be hard to start the match, but once we were in it would never disconnect. Now we can start matches but can't play for long.
I want a rollback.
I noticed an improvement, but I wouldn't say it's like night and day. There's still a bit of lag, but it's a little more playable than it used to be. Still some room for improvement I would say.
And aside from a few rage quits, I didn't experience any disconnects or anything.
Also played against some dude that played as Skarlet, and she didn't seem too great.
Anybody here interested in getting some private king-of-the-hill going some night?
you on PSN or 360?
you must be crazy if you can't see an improvement in the lag , it is like a total night and day difference to me. the input delay is virtually gone (well as close as to it can be online) compared to up to a whole second or more prior to that.
i do know they were working on that desynching issue though. had something to do with people having the dlc costumes or something like that.
Which console would one recommend picking this up for? I have a fightstick for both, but in the event I preferred using a pad, I know I'd rather go PS3. On the other hand I'd rather be on Live than PSN.... decisions decisions...
