On the speaker test screen and DVD's the most that is pushed to my receiver is a 2 Channel Pro-Logic II signal, No DTS, no DD, no response from the surround speakers when testing the channels. My old Mobo ran a 7.1 DTS/DD Fiber as well and worked perfectly, so I know my receiver can handle the decoding. If anyone has any thoughts for how to get it to push a DD signal I would much appreciate it.

Sorry if this has been posted elsewhere, ran a search, came up with nada.

Yes, seeing the same problem as have others on the forum. Everything else is working great.

make sure you have windows set to run in 5.1 surround sound. Had the same problem with my Santa Cruz card, set in 5.1 in the drivers, but windows was only set ti 2 desktop speakers. Changed it to surround sound, and it worked like a charm

start -> settings -> control panel -> sounds/audio devices -> advanced and make sure that is at 5.1 surround sound, or whatever you have

Cap'n

I'm seeing the same problem reported above with the multichannel audio. Doesn't make any difference what the advanced speaker settings are. Same problem. Others appear to be having the same issue.

hey everyone,
long time lurker, first time poster.
I have been overclockling for years, but this is the first time I have been near the top of the curve in equipment.
I got my board about 2 weeks ago, tried to overclock at 220 with random crashes, so I backed off, did alot of study, and this is where I am at right now

fsb at 250
mulit at 9
mem at 200
mem timings 2.5 3 3 6 1t
vcore 1.5v
mem 2.65v
htt 4

my sandra scores
200 fsb cpu 8083/3053/3921
mem 4869/4983

250 fsb cpu 10180/3668/4693
mem 6564/6481

ran prime95 2hrs at 41c board temp 31c

I have not pushed any futher yet, I may today, what I have found is the 1-2 nvidia raid ports do seem to be locked. All benchmarks are at same spec when testing at any fsb.

I am curious about my memory, I switched out the kingston value ram and switched to ocz high performance, mine is a rev3, I cannot for the life of me find any reviews on it. I can only find rev2 reviews, me thinks this ram has some serious overclock potental.

does anyone have this ram?

Ok im going to try and put it into one post. When I play prince of persia(came with my videocard) Sometimes my pc reboots. Also when I close the game sometimes my pc reboots.

Another thing is which DOT do i use. The corecell one or the bios one? Are they the same and how do i know if its working?

Also how do i get that raid menu thing disabled when i boot my pc? Im not using raid so i was wondering if i can make my pc skip that step.

Another thing is how do i get my front usb and firewire connection hooked up to my motherboard?

He is telling you youre memory is killing youre setup. read thru the forums, you will find a plethora of information relating to memory and getting your board to run stable.

to connect usb and firewire, and to disable sata, just read youre owners manual, its all in there.

That stinks. Now I have to go buy new ram.

As for the Front USB and Firewire the book doesnt tell me where each pin goes. They are all separated with +5 or -5 or Ground and I have no idea how it goes. The book doesnt show me.

Could you tell us the nitty gritty details of your bios settings at these speeds? I'm also curious as to which sata ports you are using?

hello elfear,
my bios settings are pretty much the same as my first post on the previous page, with the exception of lowering the memory to 180.
I am using sata ports 1&2 for my raid0 setup and port 3 for my single drive.
Ran prime95 overnight stable.
Have to go to work today, will try 300 when I get home, and if stable I will kick memory back to 200.

I am still curious if anyone has the same ram as I do (check link in previous post) I am amazed that I was able to get as high as 252 effective fsb with such tight timings.
cheers

update: memory is running at effective fsb of 260.9 2.5 3 3 6 1t

Dude, your computer is probably blue screening. Windows XP defaults it to reboot when you get a BSOD so to you, it seems like the computer just restarted on its own when you actually got a BSOD. Read the earlier part in this thread. You probably just need to install the latest ethernet card driver from nVidia's website. You may have to manually tell your computer to pick up the new version as MSI's Live Update is a piece of crap.

I though cheap ram worked just as well as expensive ram? Thats what that memory guide post said right?

taelee: i see that you use the amd 64 3000+ with your Mobo: MSI K8N Neo4 Ultra Platinum everything works fine. Because all the specs pages i have seen for the msi k8n neo4 ultra requires atleast the amd64 3500+. i personally just don't need that much power.

I'm looking at getting the K8N Diamond SLi with WLAN & Bluetooth card bundled...will this card use more % cpu than a separate eg Netgear WLAN card, or is it still a totally hardware solution?

hi. i have found out enough info about amd to convince me to buy their Athlon 64 3200+ RETAIL BOX Socket 939 instead of an intel socket T. now for the motherboard.. i was looking at the MSI K8N Neo4 Platinum Ultra -NF4 but i just have a question about it...

from what i know.. the amd chip runs at a fsb of 2000mhz
however when i went on the MSI site.. they said the motherboard only has an fsb up to 1000mhz

im just wondering if it will be bottlenecking the cpu. and if it isnt, how come the the mb says 1000Mhz and the cpu says 2000Mhz?...

the cpu showing 2000mhz

the mb showing 1000mhz

pleasee hellp
thanks for reading!..

Oh yeah and sometimes It just doesnt even boot up. Like if I only have DOT at Captain it doesnt sometimes doesnt boot up. I wanted to try overclocking and it cant do anything. Its getting on my nerves.

I just ran memtest for an hour and a half and it ran fine

Im not even using the Nvidia Ethernet. Im using the Marvell Yukon Gigabite.

I think what you're seeing is the Hypertransport speed which is separate from the cpu speed (MHz). The Neo4 will not bottleneck the 3200+.

It is 1000HT X2 DDR therefore 2000FSB Athlon 64's are either a 2000FSB or a 1600(ie 1000HT or 800HT)

***ATTENTION MAXTOR SATA hard drive owners!***

If you try to fire the board up with a 300 GB Maxtor drive, the thing probably ain't gonna boot. I encountered this with my Maxline III. For those with a 300 GB Maxtor, unplug the drive, and set the BIOS to halt on no errors as a temporary fix (I dunno if this could damage your system or not, so do at your own risk. I did that for a few days... you will have to redo it every time you do a cold boot though...)

I'm also going to try to update the firmware for my HD through Maxtor. Maxtor said some of their drives don't play well with the Silicon Image SATA controller, so that's another avenue for users with POST failures to explore.
I'm now running a beta BIOS version with a fix for it, but God knows how long it will be before the official release comes out (I'm actually running the Neo 4 "Diamond" SLI BIOS beta for my Platinum... ) After I did the BIOS update, I could boot with my SATA drive attached even after turning back on "halt on all errors"

I was running fine for a month, until I enabled my DLink wireless PCI network card. The installation went fine, and it sat unused for a week or so.

When I finally got around to enabling it and having it scan for my wireless network I was hit with a blue screen-- something about http.sys. I've also received the occasional nvtcp.sys blue screen, which I believe others have seen too? The nforce4 drivers on my board are two weeks old, if that helps.

Anyone know what gives on this? Happens to me when I'm configuring my network ports in control panel; not every time, but often enough to be a pain. Right now only the DLink is active, the Nvidia and Marvell ethernet connections are unplugged, and things appear stable.
