Ok. I downloaded and installed the Nvidia standolone kit. Now I can't connect to the internet.
Dont reinstall yet. Just do the windows system restore thing back to a time before you installed the standalone kit and it will connect to the internet again. I went to the link that dring posted and I guess that there is a compatibilty issue with the A64 nividia and UT2003/2004.Originally posted by: mammothboy

I have the same problem. I got the blue screen with the same IRQ problem, then I downloaded the standalone driver from nvidia, and installed it. After rebooting, neither network port works. After playing UT2004, the system crashed, and now I cannot get sound (from my Soundblaster Augidy2 Platinum) either. I reinstalled the standalone nvidia drive, the Marvell LAN driver, and the Audigy drivers. I'm stuck and contemplating reinstalling XP all over again. Any ideas?
MSI K8N NEO4 Platinum (non-SLI Ultra chipset)
AMD Athlon 64 3400+ (the rare 939 version, which is a 3500+ with 800mhz HT speed)
2 x 512MB Corsair blue series PC3200 RAM
ATI Radeon X800XL
Soundblaster Audigy 2 Platinum
Promise Ultra 100 PCI IDE card (I have 4 parallel ATA HDs)

Can someone tell me if the BIOS POST will report memory running in dual channel. It would on my P4 motherboard but my new Neo4 doesn't say. The total reported is correct but it would be nice to know its working properly.
Also, I read the memory chart showing the use of single sided dimms vs. double sided. I have 2x512 Giel value 3200 (double sided) . I wanted to add another 1 gig for a total of 2 but I read it will run at 333mhz not 400mhz. Any one know how that will affect performance ?
Can someone please clarify the differences between the SLI vs the NON-SLI Neo4(plat) motherboards. I know of a few obvious differences i.e. Pci slots, pci-x slot, and the onboard sound but is there anything else that would make one board different and/or superior to the other.

What memory is best to use, with K8N Neo4 Ultra
I see people using PC3200, PC3500, PC3700, PC4200. I fuzzy on this, but the board specs say DDR400. Is the Corsair 4400C25 pc3200 or pc4400?
I looked at the PDF with the specs, but it doesn't say anything about that.
Can you use PC4200 or PC 3500 in the board?
You mentioned the nice soundcard (SB Live 24) which comes with the SLI card, which is a huge improvement over the non-SLI board (which I bought because I was a moron who didn't wait for the SLI boards to drop in price). The SLI boards are 'limited' to the two PICe 16x slots (typically used for graphics, thus leaving none free), and the non-SLI board has a 1x and a 4x (running at 2x) slots. In theory, you could use the SLI board with the 850XT in the main PCIe slot and any other PCIe card (RAID adaptor, network card, sound card?) in the other. This may prove moot, as the board has everything else on board. Unless you are pessamistic about the reliability of the SLI board (it seems to be a wholel ot more complicated, thus more prone to failure), I'd get it, as the $7 gets you great onboard sound, and it should prove more versatile in the future (if you can afford a 850xt today, whats to say you wouldn't find the cash for two 6800 ultras or next gen cards in a year or so?). I still like my non-SLI board, and I don't really have any regrets, but $7 seems like a no-brainer. The rest of the board is pretty much the same.

I think you have me confused here. If I buy NEO4-SLI then all I get is the current onboard sound(which i know is really good...) but if I buy the NEO4-NON_SLI then I can buy a better soundcard than the onboard sound on the "NEO4-SLI" board for $7CDN ontop of the price of buying say just the "NEO4-SLI"
Example: (made up prices)
NEO4-SLI = $280
-OR-
NEO4-NON_SLI + Better soundcard than the above board = $287
Thuff,
Did you fix this problem? I am having the same problem: I can get past Bios screen, but right before Windows splash screen..system hangs, crashes, reboots, and repeats the process.
I have:
AMD 3500
Ultra 500W Power Supply
256MB Kingston HyperX RAM PC3200 (4 sticks) Tried different configurations
MSI K8N Neo4 Platinum SLI
64MB Asylum PCI Card
I have tried 3 different hard drives and they have this same result

Thanks man. I thought I was the only one with this problem with UT2004. Its a shame no one can get it to work.
Just checking did you mean this?,because you can get UT2004 to work fine. Some people
had luck with the new patch. It did not work for me. Some people had luck with drivers other than 66.93.I had luck with this fix to disable DEP
