This game is awesome and deserves a dedicated thread. I play on the XBox 360.
Drafting advice:
Here's some of my advice for doing a season when drafting prior to the start of a season.
1) Pick a marquee player that is not a center. A Lebron or a Kobe.
2) As a second draft pick, get the best center that you can. A good inside game is invaluable and the rebounding this player provides can be invaluable.
3) Get a power forward that can rebound. Rebounding again, is invaluable in this game.
4/5) Fill in the next two slots with good players at the positions that you still need. Who is up to you.
6) Get another center. in this case, get the best defensive center you can get that is also good at rebounding. Find the top 3 or 4 rated Centers availalbe and pick the one that can do these things. At this point in the draft, you arn't going to get an offensive standout anyway but you need a backupo to the center assuming you play with fatique on.
7-10) Fill in the slots needed (PG, PF, etc). Make sure to get atleast one SG or PG that can bomb 3s.
10+) These guys come into the game rarely, but you can still get 3 point specialists. I suggest you do. You can get very low ranked players that can simply bomb 3s (85+/90+ ratings at 3 pointers) late in the draft
In general, make sure you have 1 player at each of the PG, SG and SF positions that can bomb 3s! When the inside game is not workling out, make it rain. I came back from about 16 down at the half last night to win by 19. Strategy was simple. Keep your 1+2 picks in and put the 3 point specialist in. Drive with your #1 pick and kick out to open players for 3s. Just be careful, I sometimes confuse Rodman for Kerr and make it rain ;-)
During the drafts, I noticed that lower ranked centers go before top ranked players. A 70 C will sometimes (and often) go prior to a player with a 75 rating. Don't feel like you are wasting picks by doing this. If you don't, your center will suck due to the desire to get higher rated players to make your team "better".
General:
Play calling is invaluable. Just learn to do it. Even if you don't run the play, it does a good job of having the computer get people open. Keep in mind that the D pad on the 360 can be used to call quickplays. My friend with the XBone says he can simply say isolation and Kinect will hear it.
