I am a Kings fan so it is good to see J-Will get his ring as well as Alonzo (this man deserves one). I am also happy for Shaq (haha he won the championship before Kobe).

Dallas got robbed in game 5 (just like game 6 in 2002 for the Kings) but they are young, so they will be competitive for many years to come.

Dallas got robbed? People seem to forget that Howard missed two FTs in a row in the last minute. How much did they lose by again in that game?

Missed free throws or not, a bad call is a bad call period. You are blind if you think that was a foul.

Perhaps not by Dirk, but certainly by Harris. He grabbed Wade's arm. Dwade stole the crown, By force of will. As a long time suffering Heat fan, so close but so far...I've seen these foul calls so many times go agin us. The mav's are very good, young and will be back....

to suffer some more!!!!

The NBA is definately going downhill. It was a great season with some great teams, but these playoffs have set them right back to where they were again. Hopefully Stern will be out of there soon.

All in all there were some great series early with plenty of OT's and what not, but the last couple rounds just went to hell

I consider it one of the best playoffs I have ever watched....

I just hated to see the last series be determined by the referees. Honestly, the last two games were determined by the refs.

I just hate to see it go out that way. There were no big shots...no last second 3 pointers....just free throws.

I cant wait for next year....I am predicting right now that the Phoenix Suns are going to win it all if Amare is back and healthy.

Great article...heres my favorite quote from it..

"In my Finals preview, I wrote that "No team depends on the refs quite like the Heat. When the refs are calling all the bumps on Shaq and protecting Wade on every drive, they're unstoppable. When they're calling everything fairly, they're eminently beatable. If they're not getting any calls, they're just about hopeless. I could see the refs swinging two games in Miami's favor during this series, possibly three. In fact, I'm already depressed about it and the series hasn't even started yet." Well, we had our two games -- Game 3 (the last five minutes were just obscene) and Game 5 (again, a top-five debacle). And the series isn't over yet."

Well, in my opinion the refs swung two games to the heat, anyone disagree?

CONGRATS HEAT and their fans. $5 richer, thanks ATOT.

herk, Avery said they tried to get the ball to Dirk but SHAQ was on him, they couldn't isolate Shaq to get Dirk free for that final play. But seriously, Terry had a wide open look at a 3 and flat out missed, all you can do is tip your cap.

Here's a stat I bet none of you knew: The Heat shot 2-18 from 3pt land, and had more personal fouls than Dallas!

Zo at the press conference was nothing short of touching, you gotta feel for that guy. From quitting basketball to his kidney transplant to a champion (and coming up HUGE in this game), he is the Lance Armstrong of basketball. Nothing but love for Zo, couldn't have happened to a better guy. Shaq winning it w/out Kobe was sweet too, and you have to admit D.Wade's humility is incredible. Riley does it again. Prophetic of the man to say they would play for the trophy tonight, on June 8th.

Yup, OWNED. Harris altered the shot, they didn't have that angle from TV. Anyhow one call does not a loss make. Tip your caps to the champs, they overcame some monster adversity to win it all.

wade still got a pretty good shot off after being grabbed like that. i have no idea why they called the foul on dirk. Well either way...he deserved 2 ft's.

missed most of the game, so i can't really comment on it.

what happened to the great Mavs team that was revolutionizing the NBA? a team that's like 10 deep, can score, and defend? what a letdown from that team.

congrats to the Heat and their fans. their window of opportunity was right now and they took full advantage. with aging veterans like Shaq, Zo, and Payton....who knows how long this team will be together. they took advantage of their best chance to win it all. Wade is just sick and i've asserted in previous NBA threads that he just might be more of a complete player than Lebron, with his defense. just remember, Dwyane, you're NOT the first from the 2003 class to win a title.......Darko has a ring

were you watching the same game I was? last time I checked there was a shot a few seconds before the buzzer in game 5 to send the game into overtime.

and last night, the mavs had a buzzer (1 second before) shot and missed it ... and it was a 3 pointer.

so yah ... i have no clue what you are talking about.

it's somewhat common to have the foul called on the wrong person when 2-3 people are around the guy getting fouled. it's all about the ref's angle that calls it. he saw that wade was fouled because it's easy to tell when someone's shot was messed up by someone slamming into his arm, but due to his angle, he may not have had a clear view at harris pulling on his arm and may have just seen dirk reaching in.

The Sports Guy is a true NBA fan and knows the sport and the league inside and out. I don't always agree with his opinions but I do respect them, because he knows what he's talking about. Every NBA fan (and some NBA officials as well) should listen to what he has to say.

yeah, i posted that article somewhere in this thread. it's a real frank and he pulls no punches in the article. it really does bring up some questions about the future of the NBA.

since '04 when the Pistons won, people were talking about teams that were deep from top to bottom would the new "thing" and the formula of a superstar + role players might be dying.

the Heat have proven that theory wrong. as crazy as it seems, Shaq was a role player to Wade's superstar status. Lebron + role players nearly beat the Pistons this year.

the article's definitely worth a read.
