Come on guys, for a tech forum some of you seem wise enough to be able to deduce that he was expecting a foul there and was trying to get 3 shots. It was pretty stupid yes, but the defender was right there and it looked painfully obviously that he was going for the foul, which is the right move anyway, and the player saw it was coming but got jumpy and tried to shoot "into" the guy but he just wasn't there yet.

Deducing intent doesn't make the thought behind the intent to be any more correct.

Maybe, but shooter would still be a dumbass for trying to draw a foul on a 2. Protip: make sure you're behind the arc before trying to draw a foul when down by 3.

With ~5 seconds you do have the time to get a fairly good shot off under the circumstance but going the length of the court really cuts down on your percentages. Not excusing what he did but that's the only reason I can up with for why he did it.

can't tell if michigan is getting called tight or not. duke is getting an awful lot of free throws. i'm usually suspicious about that in basketball as i think officials call what they expect to see or what they deduce happened rather than what they can actually see.

Refs are way too inconsistent. They let both teams play it out in the first half and called EVERYTHING in the second half. I think Zona won fair and square though. Always finding ways to win. Not going to beat Duke but it's been a great year for us.

Not to detract from VCU's accomplishments, but Purdue's been limping along for weeks and was imho very overrated in scoring a 3 seed.

Purdue was lucky to get the seed it got, but once they announced the suspension of their one guard, i knew they wouldnt make it far, I actually have them loosing in this round, but not to VCU...

Aye, I have them losing to VCU. Georgetown also fell apart at the end of their season, and VCU was extremely impressive against George Mason. Overall season record matters a lot in seeding but I give it very little weight when I fill out brackets.
