I'd seen a couple of smaller threads but I thought I'd try to make a BIG one so everybody could rant and rave and such about the tourney. What do you guys think about the brackets? How 'bout the #1's? Flame and be flamed.....isn't that how it works?

Let me be the first to say that St. Joe's should not have been a #1 seed. St. Joe's should have been a #2 seed with Oklahoma St. being the 4th #1. I think this is going to be an interesting tournament, especially since the Atlanta region is loaded with UNC at 6, Arizona at 9, and Louisville at 10.

I haven't followed things too closely this season. I really hope I'm wrong on this one but it seems like the bracket that Kentucky is in is rather weak. The others seem to be a bit tougher. I could be VERY wrong about this but nobody really jumps out at me in their bracket. I'm definitely a big Kentucky fan but I don't like the idea of our bracket being the seemingly "fluff" bracket while everyone else's bracket is a lot tougher. Perhaps I speak out of place though, as there may be some good quality teams in the midwest bracket. I certainly hope that I'm proven wrong.

Personally, I think that competition is more evenly distributed this year than in recent years. In otherwords, any of the top 16 seeds have a decent shot at winning the title. No team really dominates although many play good ball right now (i.e. UK, OSU, Stanford, Wisconsin). All the regionals are filled with potential upsets.

Indeed, Oklahoma State should definitely have received a #1 seeding over St. Joe's, in my opinion.

Georgia Tech, Michigan State, Kansas, and Providence are all good teams in UK's region that could make some noise, however, I agree with you that UK probably has the easiest region. Then again, I feel like if there is going to be an "easy" region, UK earned the right to be the #1 there as they are the top #1 seed in the tournament.

they played better without okafor thursday and friday. If you didnt notice Saturday they played like crap when he was playing.

sidenote: UCONN all the way!

Admittedly, I didn't watch much of the Big East Tournament as I was so disgusted with Syracuse's performance that I had no desire to watch the rest of it. However, I was at the SU-UConn game last week and UConn seemed to miss Okafor's inside presence. Syracuse is by no means a powerful team down low, but Josh Boone and Hilton Armstrong got worked by Hakim Warrick every time he touched the ball. Don't get me wrong, Boone and Armstrong are good players and Villanueva has been outstanding, but I think against a solid forward/center, UConn will sorely miss Okafor's defensive presence whether it be on the boards (the only UConn player averaging double digit boards at 11.6/gm) or blocking shots (only Husky averaging over 2 blocks at 4.5/gm and 1 of only 3 UConn players averaging over 1 block). I just don't think that a team can win this tournament with their stud player on the sidelines (see last year's Kentucky team after Keith Bogans was injured in the tournament).

Bogans injury had some effect. The chemistry got totally screwed up. However, there were other factors.

The Wildcats were sent up to Marquette and Wisconsin's backyard for that game. They dodged the bullet by Wisconsin only to fall in the next game. Additionally, Dwayne Wade, currently a starter for the Miami Heat, literally had a career day.

I agree about the Atlanta being loaded...maybe cuz Arizona is there. Last year, they were in the same bracket as Kansas and Duke among others. Guess its good though because Arizona has been letting me down this season despite having some super athletic players and if they (or anyone in Atlanta) make it to the final four, no one can say they cruised..

Lmao, listen to the WAAAAAAAHBULANCE about St. Joes! Who really cares, not that much difference between #1 and #2, plus St. Joes deserved it since they had the highest RPI besides Duke (not to mention that Pacific made the tourney, and Xavier won the A10). Cry me a river please.

I think the #1 seeds were fair. If anything, OSU should have made a #1 over Duke. Stanford had one of the weakest SOS out of the #1's, but what more can you ask of them to win the weak weak PAC-10 and win the tourney, and only lose one game? St Joe's went undefeated and had a higher RPI than Stanford/OSU/Kentucky.

we'll let you take on the 8/9 seed then, fine with me. it will all be rectified when SJU and OSU meet in the e8.
im sort of happy OSU didnt get a 1 seed. but i really like OSU's draw, wish they were on the other side of the bracket though, so they could play UK in the finals.

St. Joes and OSU will be a great game, if OSU can get by Pitt or Wisconsin, and St.Joes Wake Forest. I have St.Joes beating Wake, and OSU beating Wisconsin so they will play each other.
