Wow. Lots of Syracuse fans on the board. Well, i'm sure there will be an influx of (insert 2004 NCAA BBall Champion here) fans posting after the game. 'Cuse doesn't stand a chance.
They were saying the same thing last year too. Let's just play the games and find out.
Cuse won't make it past Maryland, u heard it here first... No way a team that loses to BC will beat Maryland.
On a sidenote, funny as hell on the Rome show with all the callers pissed off that Pitt is going to play Wisconsin in Milwaukee... they will be lucky to survive that, I don't think they can pull it out, Wisconsin is tough this year, and add to the fact they're playing at home....
I agree with Maryland beating Cuse. I think Maryland actually has a good shot of getting to the elite eight.
Pitt will destroy Wisconsin. The Big 10 was a joke this year, almost as much as the Pac-10. When your top 3 teams are MSU, Illinois, and Wisconsin..you are a joke conference.
Don't forget that Syracuse beat UCONN and PITT in the final weeks of the regular season. Maryland is on a good winning streak but I don't think they'll stand up to Syracuse 2-3 zone def. Both teams will have their hands full beating UCONN assuming all goes well for them.
Pitt got shafted big time. I personally thought they deserved a 2 seed, but even a 3 is fine. However, the fact that they may have to play a second round game against the lower seeded Wisconsin in Milwaukee borders on disrespect. I think Pitt will still pull it off as they have such a great squad that can do it all, but it will be tough for sure.
As far as the Big Ten being a joke, I don't really think so. Yea, the conference had a bit of a down year, but it is not nearly as bad as the Pac-10 was this year. Illinois, Wisconsin, and Michigan State are for real. 5 of MSU's first 12 games were against Top 25 teams, 3 of which were in the Top 10. That's a rough way to start the season. Illinois had won 12 straight games until Wisconsin beat them in the finals of the Big Ten Tournament.
I don't think that SU losing to BC is all that big of a deal. Yea, they blew a lead, but BC finished 5th in the Big East with SU being 4th so it's not like they lost to St. John's or Miami. As far as a possible SU-Maryland matchup, should it happen, Maryland's success against the 2-3 zone and which Syracuse team shows up to play will determine whether or not they win. If SU plays the whole game like they did in the first half of the BC game, they should win easily. If SU plays like they did in the second half of the BC game and if Gilchrist keeps up his hot shooting, there is no way that SU wins. Either way, it should be a good game. And if SU and Maryland do meet, I think whoever wins will have a good shot at beating Stanford. I would love to see an SU-UConn matchup for the right to go to the Final Four (with SU winning of course).
