Hits keep on coming. Browns WR Corey Coleman broken hand. Saints CB P.J. Williams and TEN OL Chance Warmack to IR. Chargers TE Antonio Gates looking doubtful for Sunday, ditto for Gronk. TEs Delanie Walker and Eric Ebron looking questionable. Game day decision for Sammy Watkins, Arian Foster, Brandon Marshall, Eric Decker, Tyler Eifert, DJax, Rawls, and more that I've probably overlooked. The casualties are going to start looking like the piles of bodies from Blackhawk Down at this rate.

LOL "Blackhawk down".

Makes for a uninteresting week of Football when the best players go down.

The more I think about how it seems injuries pile up more and more every year, the more I start to convince myself that it is really just a failure of perspective and the overarching news cycle that skews the comparison to earlier eras.

It sure seems that they are more prominent (Reasons given: crappy fake turf, pussy practice and training camp where no one gets hit so their bodies are no longer prepared like they once were, etc...) but I think it seems more prominent because more star players go down every year. ....but that is also because there are simply more star players within the league, from team to team, than in years past.

I doubt this data is available (well, maybe it is), but I'd like to see injury charts from the 30s, 50s, 70s, etc, and compare them today. So many things have improved with training and equipment that I can't imagine it has actually gotten worse (remember when death was strangely common in football?). We recall these "titans" of the past that were legends because they seem to have played forever--better than most. But I bet so many more players left the league very early on in thsoe days--as they still do--so we never really hear or heard about them. A lot of those HoF dudes were simply those that were able to last and have the opportunity to put up numbers. On top of this, the perception and coverage of injuries is very, very different in the league today. Players played through much, much worse and we know that they paid for this later in life. None of this is covered, but a lot of these "over-cautious" injury reports are the result of the league's closely-guarded data on historical injury reports...and it ain't because of player history. They are trying to protect their expensive property.

SUNDAY, SEP. 25
Arizona at Buffalo 1:00 pm
Minnesota at Carolina 1:00 pm
Denver at Cincinnati 1:00 pm - One more week I expect the Broncos to lose. I think they've been better than most people expected.

Baltimore at Jacksonville 1:00 pm
Cleveland at Miami 1:00 pm
Washington at N.Y. Giants 1:00 pm - Which team is 2-0? Which is 0-2? This should be a no-brainer.

San Francisco at Seattle 4:05 pm
L.A. Rams at Tampa Bay 4:05 pm
San Diego at Indianapolis 4:25 pm - I think Indy will do better this week.

Great week for the Seahawks to play a creampuff. They should really consider sitting Wilson.

Certainly don't envy the Vikings without Bridgewater or AP going to Carolina.

I'd also probably take LA over Tampa.

wow, no love for NE at home? shocked.

Houston does look good and all, but I think you guys are putting way too much into JJ vs Rookie QB. This is a Belichick coached team with a Belichick coached QB in a Belichick system.

Brissett is nothing like what the Patriots have had since Brady rolled out. He's big and very mobile. I think he'll be able to put the balls where they are supposed to go, with the time to do it that every NE QB has always had to put them there, and maybe run around enough to befuddle an NFL team that hasn't seen this kind of QB in NE for about 16 years.

Lol Texans shitting it up hard. Pats teams are made losing Brady and still performing well enough to win.

Don't give up yet Houston! ... Ravens were down 20-0 last week and came back to win
(tho it was against Cleveland thankfully)

Wow could houston possibly play worse.

No. 2 fumbles inside their own 20, defense getting totally fooled by a QB keeper, (should be expected with Brisset at QB), 2 PI calls (one of them iffy) in the EZ, one badly thrown ball for a pick and 2 key dropped passes that would have been 1st downs. I think that about covers it. I've now seen 2 PI calls (one for, one against the Pats) that resemble an NBA foul when the shooter intentionally runs into the defender, if this trend continues it will close to impossible to avoid PI calls in short-yardage situations.

This is hilarious how Goodell was trying to fuck over the Patriots and Brady with this suspension, and now they have a real chance of going 4-0 without Brady lol. I'm not a fan of the Patriots or anything but I'm so glad it's playing out this way because the whole thing was completely overblown and absolutely much a do about nothing.

I love how the NFL was able to shift the narrative from "we have no evidence you did anything wrong, but fuck you Brady" to "you gave me the power to do anything, fight that!"

I was always on record as saying Brady was in on it but I think "it" was possibly dropping .2-.4 PSI out of the ball, when Goodell tried to equate that on the level of steroid usage it became laughable. Deprived of his "steroids" all Brady did was have a BETTER 2nd half in that game and a SB for the ages. Meanwhile he has sullied the league's reputation by letting false PSI information "leak" out of the leagues office in NY, and got caught outright lying when Judge Berman unsealed the appeal. I tip my hat to the Pittsburgh Steelers who were the ONLY team to vote against the latest CBA, they were trying to warn others that this commishner was not Tagliubule and would abuse his powers, they could not have been more right.

fricking big day for blount

Gotta love that last TD run when he jumped into the "minutemen" at the back of the EZ and struck a pose. He's the type of back that will have a lot of 1-3yrd gains but eventually can wear you out. Just what the Dr. ordered for a rookie QB making his 1st start.

Not sure what to make of Houston now. They dominated KC, but got shut out by the Pats.

I am glad Denver didn't pay millions for Osweiler though.
