Find a rookie QB who put up those types of numbers in their first starts on a team that surrendered over 95 points in those games.
Also a rookie that made a 17 point comeback in his first starts
And almost pulled off another one against the #1 defense in the NFL. Tebow's and Bradford's passing stats are actually quite similar, even though Bradford has 13 more games of starting experience. The most passing experience of any rookie in history, actually, but you wouldn't know it by comparing their stats from the past three weeks.
Tebow did play the worst pass defense, true, but he also played the two best. Bradford has played the 17th, 24th, and 27th in the past three weeks. Toss in Tebow getting a TD every tenth time he runs the ball, and the least you can say is that Bradford is not clearly performing far better, as people said he would, as you would expect from the #1 pick versus the #25 pick. Let's also don't forget that, although the Broncos surrendered 95 points and the Rams 60, both men came out of those games with the same record. I could go on, but I don't want to spend all day at this.
Picking up Tebow was brilliant, even if he never makes it as a starting QB. He was worth the risk. So much blue sky if he can get things going- far more than your average #25. Far more than your average #1, even. Proclaiming him the new Elway just yet is stupid, but not as stupid as people who mindlessly rag on him when he's just started. He's talented and driven, he's a proven winner, and he still may become a very good QB someday.
At the very worst, he could almost certainly be a starting TE on all but a few teams, and that's worth what they paid. One thing he will almost certainly not be is a complete and total bust. I would probably have taken him earlier than 25 if I could have.
