NHL All-Star voting has become more of a joke than the NBA now.

They're the 7th best team in the East in terms of points per game, and the 10th best team in terms of goals for - goals against and FOUR players are voted in?

The Senators don't even have a player in the top 10 in points and ALL THREE forwards selected are from their team?

Forwards voted in points rank: 12, 49, 83
Forwards voted in goals rank: 8, 28, 52

Does the NHL just weight home team votes higher? This happened when it was in Montreal too and it was a joke then as well.

Claude Giroux should be at the very top of the forwards and it shouldn't even be close. Alfredsson deserves it for doing what he has done, but should be 5 or so down the list. To say the other senators deserve it is a complete joke.

Lidstrom isn't even having a great year, and although he deserves to probably be in the ASG, his rank is retarded. Shea Weber deserves it much more as well as others behind him like Duncan Keith just to name a couple.

Sidney Crosby? Seriously? He has played 3 games or some such, will probably not play again all year much less the ASG, why is he so high? Just because its Sidney Crosby. Its stupid. He is in front of Giroux and Toews? WOW.

There is so much to hate when looking at the list, I can't even cover it all.

agreed, its silly

i dont care about the game though. its about as boring as a hockey game can get. the skills comp is where the fun is. i sat 1st level last year for the skills comp and it was a lot of fun to watch.

I think that is stupid. They really have no valid reason to say no to any sort of realignment. It is merely a tactic to flex whatever muscle they have and I think it may throw a wrench into the upcoming contract negotiations.

Paul Kelly's opinion mirrors yours;

Kelly thinks there is a little "flexing of muscles" ahead of "the big dance". The current collective bargaining agreement expires on September 15 of this year. While a lockout is a possibility, Kelly is hoping, nor does he think it will come to that.

"Another lockout would be very detrimental to the sport. I'm an optimist. I've talked to Donald Fehr on a number of occasions. I've talked to others at the NHLPA; I've talked to Gary Bettman and Bill Daly on a regular basis. We're not looking for a wholesale, re-creation of our system as we were five years ago", said Kelly, for a moment slipping back into the role of negotiator.
