shitty for pens fans, but at least the hurricanes arent your home team. as far as im concerned every 'canes win right now is just going to drop them in the draft; winning right now is completely pointless.

Tell Rutherford (he still GM there?) that we will take Gleason and possibly Ruutu off your hands for some like 3rd/4th round draft picks!

That'll help you "Fail for Nail"

i have no issue with one or both going at this point. yeah, hes still the GM. i think i like some of his moves...and hate others completely. i have to say, however, that id really like to know how he managed to move kaberle for spacek.

the only thing i really wonder now is how serious will they be in trying/wanting to rebuild (which they should have been doing the last 2 seasons). all the owner actually wants is to make round 1 and get the extra playoff money, because he gets paid back from the league for staying under the cap. so thats all theyve tried to do the last couple of years...get a couple of pieces to just get them into the playoffs.

they suck at it, however, so it hasnt happened.

As a sharks fan it's sad I'm thinking "what does it matter, it's not the playoffs". Also my fantasy team is bad (because I forgot to change my roster and didn't play my three best players for a week, damnit).

my fantasy team sucks...i picked kopitar and iginla early, and i think hartnell 3rd or 4th and hes doing better than either of those fuckers.

Ovechkin is my favorite player on Washington's roster, but Chimera or Backstrom should be in the all-star game ahead of the "Not-so-Great-Lately-8".

ok i have to say....carolina shoulda send harrison off this year. 700k/yr, 6 goals and 16 pts this season with another year left on the contract. come the deadline his cap hit will be almost nothing and 700k to do even half that next year is hard to argue, imo.

Well...great effort by my Blues ..should have won. Have to score on power plays to beat good teams like the Canucks. Blues outplayed them for long stretches of the game. Disappointing way to lose ..bogus penalty call that carries over into extra-time.

A lot of players should be in the all star game before Ovechkin.

yes, but it's not an all-star game without him. I have no idea how Backstrom isn't in...

Anyway, the all-star game is more hype than anything. The game itself can get pretty boring. I like the skills comp the night before much more.

Why, because a bunch of homers stacked the deck?

He always seems prone to a midseason slump, and this year's is extra bad. I would have posted that the slump is over and you're probably good to put him back in your lineups after the killer games against the Caps and the Stars tonight, but after that crushing hit he took I wouldn't be surprised if he's donezo. Sutter seems to think he'll be fine. I sure hope so.

the skills comp is the only part worth watching, imo. last year ovi wasnt doing great and was still in the comp and the game...he was fun to watch in the competition last year, thats for sure.

People say there are no bad seats at the Joe. After today, I disagree, these seats kinda sucked.

Either way, good to see the Wings beat the Hawks for the 2nd time in a row. Wings also tied a club record 14 straight home wins. Too bad Chicago got a point by taking it into overtime, to remain 1 point ahead of the wings.

/didnt watch, not sure how they keep beating boston

Oilers have a good pick all locked up again this season. :|

Another injury tonight as Hall gets into a freak accident in the pre-game skate.

Hall out, Eberle out, Nugent-Hopkins out, Whitney out, Gilbert out.

Right. Our top three forwards and top two D-men are all hurt.
Unfucking real how bad our luck with injuries is the last few seasons.

I actually think we're going to end up last again this season.

I literally said, "Fuck" out loud and cringed when I heard what happened to Hall.

That seat doesn't look that bad. I always find at the UC that its the people in front of you and in your row that make a seat good or bad. Views from up top are solid in my opinion.

You know if you guys are deep with your minor league team at all to keep up your team quality once your old dudes start to go? As much as I love seeing the Hawks beat Detroit and would love to see Detroit fall into last place, the games they play against each other are simply amazing to watch and I would hate to lose this kind of classic matchup.

That being said, DE-TROIT SUCKS! DE-TROIT SUCKS!

A couple years ago I was pretty worried that there wouldn't be new talent coming like we were likely to lose over the next 5 years, but I see some real talented players in Grand Rapids and our other minor league team the Swedish Elite League.

I was holding the camera above my head, and my hands were touching the ceiling. The last 3 rows were not tiered, if there was a play at the opposing net, I could not see it.

Detroit's current success is built on minor leaguers. For a while there the entire 4th line was guys who had less than a dozen NHL games, and they were kicking ass. If replacing vets was a problem, we would already be in last place, look at how many guys retired over the past 3-4 years. One thing Detroit is good at is training up new talent. People are always pointing out what low draft numbers Detroit's top guys are compared to the top guys on other teams. And yet Detroit now leads the west, woot.
