Many goal scorers would have done the same thing simply assuming he had the goaltender beat. Besides, its an inter-team scrimmage. Watch Duchene break out with 30-40 goals this year and 80 pts

and? doesn't make it any better. This video should be used to show players why they need to lift the damn puck.

I can't remember how many times I have yelled at the TV or at a game, saying the same thing.

Senators are in full rebuild but there are a few young players I'm anxious to see.

Watched the game against Toronto two days ago. We're taking on the Bruins tonight.

I haven't seen the goal in question, but many times it's impossible to lift the puck after a deke, you're arms are extended and it just can't be done. Usually when you deke you are trying to beat the goaltender on the ice.

He is just mad that they gave up their best goalie in Varlamov and will find out soon enough that Vokoun is over the hill and way overpaid

Luckily for them, I think Neuvirth will step in and take the reigns from Vokoun this year, and its not like they had a choice since Varly didn't want to be in Washington. It was either lose him for nothing to the KHL or get picks, and picks they got.

lol ... you've just lost all credibility.

Vokoun over the Hill? Really that is your argument? Vokoun, Neuvy and Holtby... yeah i'll take those 3 any time

Varly for first-round pick in 2012 and a second-rounder in 2012 or 2013? 9-10 people would think the Avalanche just got fleeced, and that 1 person who does not is a delusional Avalanche fan

p.s. you most likely could have had varly for just a 2nd by giving him an offer sheet. Thanks for the 1st round pick next year in a deep deep draft.

Can't wait to see both Selanne and Hiller back in action again. Hiller been out since start of January and Selanne been sitting on the fence whether to come back for another season up until like a week ago. Went to see our team practice over the weekend and the guys are looking sharp. I see a lot of new faces but also a lot of familiar faces who carried the Ducks to the playoffs last year.
This. Already got my tickets for the 10-14 game against the Sharks. Hopefully they'll make up for a disappointing season from the Angels.

To be fair, Vokoun is getting old. There's no telling how long he can keep his level of play. He's been the most consistently excellent goalie post lockout though.

Haven't followed Vokoun too closely, but Miller and Lundqvist have both been ridiculous since the lockout...

and this is all while playing in front of that wonderful defense known as the Flordia Panthers D (except the first season after lockout which was with Nashville)

Because that is where they failed last year... But fair argument

I for one can't wait for Colorado fail to make the playoffs, finish towards the bottom of the league and give the capitals an awesome draft pick in a deep draft

All things aside... I am an Avalanche fan, and hope I am wrong

I think the Avalanche make the playoffs this year. We'll see. As I said in my first post, our entire future rests on Varlamov's hands right now, and there is no denying that fact. He clearly has the talent to carry us, just needs to stay healthy.

Hopefully. I just picked him up as my third goalie and he might swap in for my second.

The Sabres are going to be better this year. I don't see them taking the division from Boston, but they should make the playoffs before the second to last game of the season.

They always start strong though and then shit the bed midway through the season. It's sad. Any chance Doughty pulls up stakes and heads somewhere else?

Just adding Richards makes a significant difference for potential performance though. Now we also have Penner with some chance to actually integrate into the team and being on a contract year and Gagne (despite his injury proneness). And more experience. It's a shame Kompon wasn't replaced and then we'd really be an unstoppable force. I just want this Doughty drama to be over. It's come too far down to the wire now.

Bruins look like they're holding something big, shiny, and silver. :awe:

They will see what every stanley cup winning team sees now...the best every team has to offer, every...single...game.

Good luck to you guys though! I was very happy Boston won it.

Hawks should be interesting this year. I don't expect the Vancouver games to be friendly at all.

It seems like just a few weeks ago the Finals ended. Has Vancouver put their city back together?

Have they ever been?

On a side note, I'm surprised the Canucks only play the Bruins once this season... I was expecting at least 3 games.

Agree with this, not sure if they can tear the division away from Boston, unless they have a cup hangover but they should make the playoffs rather comfortably.

Looking forward to the season, Pegula and Black have really put their money where their mouths are and I expect nothing less during the season if things aren't going as planned.

Doughty is just waiting for the chance to jump ship to the Red Wings and take over for Lidstrom when he retires....

So Malkin looked fantastic last night. If he stays on his game and Sid comes back before mid-season, I say the Penguins have a good shot at going all the way this year.
