I don't know about that, a tap to the nuts is pretty bad but this was shoulder on head

No broom this time! Nice to have Umberger back. Who knows how far they'll go this year, but they're progressing. It's getting to the point that they aren't just happy to be in the league. Building some good rivalries too. Looking forward to the day that Pit at Columbus isn't a freaking Penguins home crowd.
They should blast No More Mr. Nice Guy to open the game Monday.

I am liking the new format where you play divisional opponents a lot right now. Games are more even and the hockey is more exciting. It will result in a few "favourites" either being knocked off or much more tired out, which may hurt later rounds but it is making the first round a lot more exciting.

Has someone put something in LA Kings' drinking water? I thought Kings vs Sharks was going to be one of the most exciting bouts in the first round.

I watched the Sharks vs. Kings game and once the Sharks got rolling, the Kings had nothing. It seems that Quick is quite beatable from further away, and the Sharks lit him up once they found the places to shoot from.

I was driving so I could only listen to the Habs game. Sounded like it was pretty close, but the Habs played well enough to win. The home announcers said that they thought that goal that was waved off should have counted.

I watched a good portion of the Bruins/Wings game, the Bruins were much better than the Wings for most of the game.

Lucic definitely pulled a bush league move Friday night. Dude's a force and he doesn't need to resort to that kind of garbage to be effective. It also happens all the time. Three times already in round 1... Lucic, Dubinsky, and Perry. Why the league decides they don't need to fine Perry or Dubinksy... I don't have a clue. If all three got a call from the league, I'd be OK with it. Since they didn't, meh.

The hit was shoulder to head, directly on a player that did not have the puck and who was injured and has missed games.

The shot to the groin is bush league, makes Lucic, his team and the league look bad, and resulted in no injury. $5K seems right to me.

Toewes' head was down, Backes' was up. That's a fairly big difference. Orpik does not extend to hit the head and if Toewes' would keep his head up it would've been a clean check to the body. Orpik lets up on his speed up before hitting.

Backes head was up, Seabrook's hit is dirty.

wow they're giving the pens tons of power plays to get back in the game...refs just can't keep their hands out of these games.
