you never know with them. when they tooled up with a bunch of stars, they sucked. for all we know, a "rebuilding" year for them could see them make it into the first or second round of the playoffs.

i missed all of the action last night due to golf, but i heard Kyle Wellwood had two goals for the Leafs.

this is the type of player that could REALLY benefit from the league opening things up while cracking down on obstruction at the same time. small, skilled, and AMAZING hockey sense. i saw him play for the Windsor Spitfires (as well as Spezza, Ott, and some more guys that are coming to an NHL team near you, trust me) - so deceptive. probably had the best play-making ability I have ever seen at the OHL level.

I hope Ovechkin wins the Calder trophy. I'm so sick of hearing about Crosby. OMG OMG Crosby scored a pre-season goal. OMG OMG he got an assist. OMG OMG he wiped his own butt. But I think even if Ovechkin scores more goals then Crosby he still won't win. They will give it to Crosby just so he can have it.

AO with a 1G, 3A performance tonight against a stacked Philly roster including Forsberg.

In the 2nd period of last night's game, AO has scored more points than Crosby has all preseason.

Anyway, I'm not sure AO is a good fantasy pick... he's got no supporting cast to help with the points.

Flyers will not in win it all. They have Forsberg who can't last a whole season without getting hurt. Then they have Hatcher who has 2 bad knees and skates as bad as 43 year old Chris Chelios. Their whole defense is big and strong , but with the rule changes the question is can they help on the attack.

As for the Penguins they might give a few teams a scare. With better talent Lemeuix can still put up the assists.


You are right about the Devils. With Stevens gone they don't have a chance.

i know. that was a dumb pick. i don't know what happened... it was kind of a knee-jerk pick. this is after he totally screwed me two years ago by getting injured when he was well over 1 point-per-game. i was surprised at some of my later picks, as I thought they would be gone by then - especially Zednik and Shanahan. I hope they produce! You in any cash pools rh71? this draft was $100! :Q $1k 1st prize.

nah, I suck at following players and who plays with who on which line. I know the good players but that doesn't mean I'd be good at pools... my history has proven that.

With that said... I change my mind on Ovechkin. Someone made me realize he was going to get ridiculous ice time because he's the best player on the team... that's gotta be good for lots of points. Crosby on the other hand will be overshadowed and overwhelmed by pressure to perform. He's only 18 while AO is 20 and has played against elite players for a while now.

so true. Ovechkin is the best Cap. He'll get the lion's share of powerplay time too... hopefully he's out there with Cassels. Sid went higher than Ovechkin last night, but I think it had as much to do with the hype surrounding the name.

Is it true that Kovalchuk hasn't signed yet? Damn... they better get his ass signed (if true).

Yup, a lot of players are staying in Russia because they're not all that worse off financially. Atlanta realized this was the case and promptly went after Bondra.
