But you're incorrect, the controller is not more advanced than the 3DS. It has a bigger screen, but there's no processing power inside. Rendering is done by the console and streamed to the controller.

That's why the Wii U won't cannibalize Nintendo's handheld market. You can only play on the Wii U controller within range of the console.

Is the new Zelda going to be released for the existing Wii? OR is the new one going to be a Wii U game. I'm going to be pretty pissed if they skipped the Wii for a Zelda game. Zelda TP doesn't count since it was made for the game cube.

We're at a point where graphics are harder and harder to discern for the average Joe. Or at least they're good enough where Joe Consumer doesn't care. Only fanboys will argue incessantly about that stuff. If a console can display 1080p at 60fps on heavy action scenes that's about all you need.

If you're referring to the next generation having trouble differentiating themselves from the current generation, then I would disagree with that statement. The benchmark for where we expect console/desktop graphics to be is actually seen elsewhere, and that would be in the theaters. Essentially, the goal is to get closer to more realistic effects used in movies without the insanely long render times and hardware.

If you mean the PS4 and XBOX 3 won't look much different... that may be true, but to be honest... the PS3 and the 360 don't look much different today. What usually causes their differences isn't actually the processing capabilities of each either... it's usually console design choices such as smaller amounts of system/video RAM or limited game medium storage space. For example, the PS3 only has 256MB of video RAM (and 256MB of system RAM) where the 360 has 512MB of shared RAM (+ 4MB? ED-RAM buffer for post-render AA).

I have to imagine this is also going to come with a wiimote packed in the box. They went on and on back when the wiimote came out about how scary regular controllers are to casuals, and now they've gone and built the most complex controller ever conceived. Multiplayer seems to revolve around only one person having the new controller, so the wiimote appears to still be an integral part of the system. As ubiquitous as it already is, it needs to be in that box.

I still wish they had gone further on the system specs though. They're still the bread and butter of what a console is capable of. I guess in the end it doesn't really matter...as far as it goes, the competition will only one up them. Yet they're in this position in the first place because they didn't push the specs.

They need to figure out a way to break this cycle.

So the controller is a much more advanced version of the VMU that was on the Dreamcast since when playing multiplayer games you get different info than other people on your screen and obviously play full games on it.

I'd imagine this is going to be a huge hit for particular games like Madden where you can call plays without your in-room opponents getting a glimpse of what you might call, or even better, draw up entirely new plays on the fly!

Right now I'm still a bit skeptical of this but it could be a huge hit, particularly when considering its been several years now that Nintendo has successfully inspired developers to think in terms of 2 screens with their wildly successful DS console.

Wow. Holiday 2011 for the 3DS games? Man, Nintendo pulled a fast one with the 3DS. They made people think those titles were headed out for the Summer, or Fall at the latest.

I would expect it to. It's gotta be 100% compatible with the Wii so the same hardware manufactures - IBM and AMD/ATI - will be used again.

This thing's controller is f**king ridiculous. Looks about as comfortable to hold as a honey badger. The only people who play Nintendos are kids and fat middle aged women anyway. Looking forward to the next release from Sony or MS.

maybe it's an AMD CPU... a sempron bundled with a a dx-11 5450 GPU. I remember the good ol' VMU days... that was awesome! I remember I could play Virtua Tennis Right on my VMU! It literally would stream the game (albeit stick figures) to my vmu!

it really was not that big of a deal at all back when dreamcast did this with the 2k series back in the day. this is one of those things that people think is so awesome in concept but in reality just isn't used much.

most people don't even realize that madden has had the ability to call your play hiding it from your opponent for probably a decade now.
