The benches look designed to show the highest settings to get similar performance.

These are bull....the cards aren't even all running at the same settings, so you can't compare anything.

I think this is someone's idea of an elaborate joke or something because no good site would benchmark a card like that.

very interesting...

Looks like nVidia will have some driver updates soon, the Radeon 9800XT does very well keeping within 4fps on Need for speed: Underground for example. Shame the review doesnt use the same (or similar) settings - based on their effect I mean rather than just number.

150fps average on call of duty 1600x1200, 4xfsaa, 16xaf is insane

That's what I was thinking. My 9800 Pro is looking better and better every day.

It shows that the 6800U is considerably faster than the other 2 cards, since it is using higher quality settings.
It doesn't bode well for the regular 6800 though.

If it's true.

The only game benches that show the 6800 kicking butt is with call of duty towards the bottom and the rest show the 6800 as a worthless upgrade. Something is definately wrong more than the differences in the card settings compared. With Call of Duty using a higher resolution and higher AA FF or whatever the 6800 is a LOT faster. Dont know we all have to wait for the official reviews.

think about it this way. The geforce 6800 is running ALOT higher settings then either of the other 2 cards, and it still is faster. 4Xaa on 6800 is faster then nothing at all on a 9800xt. pretty impressive. also look at call of duty, it murders the other cards there.

Not with the links that GTaudiophile put up. They were all benched at the same resolution.
The most you get is 4xAA instead of 2xAA. You'd be hard pressed to spend $400 for that.

I am guessing that a driver update or two will fine tune the 6800 cards. It might not be as bad as I initially thought especially considering that the 6800 is often running at higher settings than the other two cards.

COD is the only thing that is impressive right now. IF these are legit, there is no reason to upgrade from say a 5900/5900U/5950/9700/9700p/9800/9800p/9800xt

oh and I dont see differnce in the quality of the screenshots at first look. I really hope that the reviewer who took that data messed up because based on it the 6800 wont be any faster than a 9800XT in many games and only a few will show a big difference so it looks like the prices make a lot of sense now. All I can say if this is true is that both Nvidea and ATI can go to hell and I am not giving them a dime.

COD, BF vietnam, and SS: PT are being ran at higher resolutions and higher AF with the 6800U

This would be true except for the fact that there is a huge difference between 4fps average difference on NfS:Underground and 50fps at better settings on Call of Duty. Looks to me like the driver is set up to take advantage of the hardware in CoD, but not for the other games yet... Could this be right?

The 6800 is good, but not a big enough leap. 8500 - 9700 = BIG leap. 4600 - 5900 = big leap. 5900 - 6800 = average leap. It looks to me like the 6800 is only about 50% better if even that.

Perhaps it will take faster CPU's to see a leap in perf with NV40 / R420?

Except that CoD is more than playable with todays hardware, you might as well be comparing Q3A

Like I said, you'd be hard pressed to spend $400 for that, especially if you ran a 17-19" lcd.
I'm not saying it isn't faster, just not the leap I would have expected.

Hopefully these are all wrong or it really isn't an Ultra. I would like to see more speed.

Or in other words, I would like to plug in a video card and run every game out there smoothly.
Dipping into the 20's or 30fps doesn't cut it.

I'm not believing it until I see official reviews. This is way too close to have all this hype behind it. If it's true, then this was a waste of time.
