Sure there are some games that it barely makes a improvement but thats because it's CPU limited, you can tell that when some go UP in speed with AA/AF, or atleast stay very very close.
I am disappointed because for $500.. let me say that again FIVE FREAKING HUNDRED DOLLARS I get a video card that requires a new power supply, has an average jump in FPS (I am not as impressed as some of you) and basically no new cool features. My point revolves around the whole package. In the old days, when nVidia beat down 3dfx, they offered a compelling package. It had 32 bit color, had new features that allowed for new cool stuff, had a very competitive cost (usually $299 for top of the line and other lines which were cheaper but had great performance), had huge FPS gains, great drivers, etc etc etc.
I think you guys are absolutely bonkers. $500 for a card that has an average jump in FPS and forces most of us to run out for a new power supply and doesn't have any new compelling must have features is just not very exciting to me.
For a half a thousand dollars I just don't get it. I guess if you go money to throw away this is great news. But for me, husband and father of two, who works and goes to school this doesn't prompt me to get it.
I remember back when the GeForce 3 launched, how amazing it was, how exciting, how big the improvements were. At $299 I fought thosands of other people to get my card first and was extremely happy with it once I got it.
That was my point.
