Games, even multiple games, wont heat the proc the way Orthos or one of the "burn CPU" apps. Those apps pretty much keep the CPU's units "lit" constantly by endlessly cranking through complex math.

I've found that my temps running the stab/heat testers are *significantly* higher than anything that occurs while gaming.

So it is important to compare like to like. One guy saying "OH MAN! Im getting 68C under load!" and another person saying "WOW! something is wrong dude! I dont go higher than 51C ever" is sort of a meaningless discussion if the first guy is running Burn CPU and the second guy is running apps/games.

The other thing is that TAT will report higher than NTune. The reason is that TAT is polling the thermal sensor internal to the CPU whereas NTune is reading the mobo CPU thermistor which is basically near the CPU socket.

Its funny because the QX6700 just runs far far hotter than the C2. So it makes you kind of wonder about the temp paranoia you always see. Its pretty much impossible to keep a QX6700 in the 60s as measured by TAT under *real* CPU pressure. Just start searching around forums for *honest* 6700 temp reports and you'll see what I mean. Not people replying, like robots, "THAT TEMP IS TOO HIGH YOU SHOULD BE AT NO MORE THAN 55C" like you see on the idiot forumz, but actually reports from people running, stressing and OCing 6700s. The chip just has huge TDP and runs very hot right out of the box, making me think that 99% of the people playing with C2s really have absolutely nothing to worry about since its the same core.

For anyone interested: Now I'm using Vista 64-bit on this board and I can confirm that 4GB of memory works fine.

I'd like to comment again: For overclocking, this board is a lot more forgiving to 2MB CPUs (E6300/E6400) than to 4MB CPUs. General stability/smoothness seems better with E6400 as well. It is unfortunate that this board markets toward high-end therefore many with 2MB CPUs aren't considering this board. (And justifiably so. Good P965 boards can be had for less than $150)

So I upgraded to a 1000w PSU, but still same issue. I even tried updating the bios, and setting the memory voltage from 1.8 (default) to 2.0v...Nothing works...

When I say random restart, i mean random. I could be doing nothing, or I could be surfing the internet, or running orthos, or prime95, or playing a game. It could be 5 minutes after windoes starts, or it might not restart at all until the next day or two..but eventually it'll restart.

I even tried reinstalling a fresh copy of XP on test HDD, but instead of restarting it would randomly BSOD or freeze up. I'm all out of ideas, I'm not OCing or anything.

I ran memtest and PC-Check and it found nothing wrong. The only error I see from Memtest is when i set it to check (BIOS-All) test under option 3. Not sure what that does but it gives nothing but errors. So I wasn't sure if it was testing memory or something else. Maybe memtest doesn't support 680i?? But default memtest passed without any errors. PC-CHeck passed too, which checks for CPU, motherboard, HDD, memory, stress test, the works..And orthos and prime95 ran fine for a good 1 or so...Please HELP!!!

Oh, also, it works perfectly normal if I turn off 2 of the cores. And yes I've tried using different core setups IE Core 0 with Core 3 only. Also it core temp averages around 49-55C...

I noticed in your profile you have listed running 2 vids in SLI. I'd recommend disabling SLI mode and then join the rest of us screaming why oh why once your comp no longer freezes/random reboots/ or bsods.
