i'm still waiting for better price to show up..

how was the multiplayer like? is it like battlenet(having a centralized server saving the game stats)? what about the items(are they randomly generated like d2)?

I seen a review of it on Gamespot and on Gamespy. My personal opinion is that it is a good game. I can't wait to get home from work to load it up.
I have to agree about the paper sleaves. For $55, I'd expect at least a plastic case.

most reviews say that the graphics aren't all that. I know graphics isn't as important as gameply, but it would be nice to see updated graphics. I do howerver realize that this game was 5 years in development, so not everything can be perfect. One question...is the single player enthralling?

what do you guys mean by disc 3 ?

i have :-
1. Install Disc 1 X 2
2. Install Disc 2

do you mean "Play Disc" when you say disc 3 ?

im just being paranoid and making sure i have everything ... i sure love this game and dont want some stupid packing error to spoil the experience ...

I got the game although I really didn't wanna spend $54.95 for it. Anyways, I think it is a great game.

I'm playing th game with the system in my sig, the game has crashed maybe 3 times (once due to task switching). And I'm into chapter 3 with a level 17 char. I find the game to be quite stable. The graphics are great, just not groundbreaking. Sound is pretty damn cool. There are a few tiny annoyances (pathfinding for one) but no major bugs.

Multiplayer is like original Diablo, or FPS games. No centralized servers, but the game has options for enforcing legal chars and class/level restrictions on items. Also, the game has an option for non local chars served only on the server.

The game's huge. MP is a bit slow/laggy, but they have been patching it. I didn't expect to play MP for a while until new modules came out.

My personal advice: Wait for the game to get cheaper and the MP community to develop modules and persistant worlds. Unless you want to make those worlds, or you're hungry for a Bioware RPG. I for one really like NwN compared to BG for the simple fact that you don't have to control 6 different party members.

Actually in this aspect, I like Icewind Dale best, because you get to create all 6 party members as well as control them. I like that better, personally.

I've played IWD through 3 or 4 times, and am playing through it again. I've got HOW installed but there are no potion bags, scroll cases or gem bags available... must be a bug. Anyway, I like creating smaller party of 3 or 4 characters... multiclass several of them and play that way. Best happy medium between micromanaging a large party and ease of control.

I've heard that NWN has "dated graphics" according to the reviews and some player comments. Is this true for those of you who have played it? I read the reviews at gamespot and gamespy... one of them stated that the graphics look dated since it has been in developement so long. I guess the up side to all this is that it isn't such a hardware hog that MW is and can run decenly on lower level systems.

Dated as compared to what? The graphics are as good as or better than IWD or BG2. I do think that Morrowind's and Dungeon Siege's graphics are better.

Yeah DS has better graphics (but not by a huge margin), but I didn't find NwN to be all that dated.

Morrowind's terrible character animations totally turned me off.

As always though, gameplay is a huge factor for me.

My brother got it for $55 + they gave a 10 gift card at Circuit city.
CompUSA had the same deal except the gift card came in the mail instead of being instant

As for the graphics, they do need high system specs even though they aren't the best graphics out there

I've been playing it for the past few days and all I can say is wow

There is just so much to this game... I have had zero probs running and zero crashes (as opposed to Morrowind which crashed on me 10-12 times in running it for a few days).

Hosted a multiplayer game with 4 others and it was fantastic, moving around fast and doing your own thing will definitely get you killed so the game encourages party RPG style play.

The scripting tool is great, I was able to create a small village in minutes (although I did not have time to create NPC's, shops, dialogue, etc).

Started up a DM session in my little village and put some critters in and watched them all go after each other, this game is fantastic!!!!!!!!!

now go get it!

OK ok! I picked it up on Sunday finally. Best Buy was still the worst buy. Media play was still $55 so I got it there since I had some store credit to burn.

BTW, I loaded it up and set up an Elven Ranger. What little of the game I've seen looks really nice on my system. Gotta fix my sig now!

I thought that would only happen to me ...

Wohoo. No more crashes since the last update 1.19...

I just did the 1.19 patch download here at work. Even with high speed it took a while... must be their server. It weighs in at 34 mb, which is pretty heft for a patch. Hopefully it will correct most major problems. I've already heard it makes a big difference in multiplay - esp server.

It made a big difference on mine now it crashes every 2 mins

I was finally able to get stable again after playing around with my drivers but then no matter what driver combo I ran or even if I comepletely reinstalled the game I was getting 0.5 FPS so I have resorted to a complete windows reinstall.

NWN is simply AWESOME!! And this is coming from a guy who has never played D&D and knows nothing about it! I am working my way through chapter 2 now.

The graphics aren't THAT dated...they look especially nice with all the details turned up. The suit the game very well, and IMO it's more visually appealing than Morrowind...I just could NOT get into morrowind. Ugh...hated it.

NWN has never crashed on me.
