 tons of fun so far for me too, happy that I don't feel like I have to be a fighter like I did in morrowind either, ended up being a dark elf bard. I wish I had a bit better system specs though, I'm stuck on medium settings (2200+, 768 megs and a 9800 pro) but its still looks good and fun as hell. I can't wait till I start getting max on my skills to try out some of those expert abilities the manual talks about.

I've got the Opteron 170 dual core CPU. I'll report back how the game plays. If there's a way to 'timedemo' it let me know and I'll do that.

not sure how to time demo it, and the game randomly adds vegitation so no 2 benchmarks will be exactly the same.

I'm pretty sure this is incorrect. The developers said that they procedurally generated content when they created the world -- the game doesn't randomly add vegitation on the user's end, this was only done during development. The vegetation is identical in each copy.

I'm very happy to hear that it runs decently on your pc, I have very similar specs and was concerned about that.

hmm i believe its just grass and flowers ect...since there is so much of it. but hey i could be wrong -.-; my videocard is being shipped to evga (upgraded to 7900gt for free ) so i cannot play it ; ; otherwise id be posting dual core vs single core benchmarks and be more accurate about stuff like that ; ;

hmm you have a dual core cpu and the game? want to clue us in? LoL

i am running it on a athlon xp3200 a 6800gt and 1 gig of ram and it auto detected the settings to be 1024x768 and pretty much medium everything. it runs good enough i ahve not noticed any slowdowns or anyting. i will change some settings tonight and see what happens. overall the game is very fun. i only played for like an hour but i really like it so far. the new combat system i think is better then the old just click and click and click method. you actually have to time it a bit. i guess my overa all first impressions are that is is very fun and looks really good.

Seems like I encountered my 1st bug

Just don't rent a room at Brina Cross Inn until after you join the Mage Guild and have the quest to go there.

Could anyone with 2gigs contrast this with running 1gig at high resolutions (1920x1080). My stats are A64 3500/7800gt/1gig.

I played the beginning for a little bit. It starts out kind of like in Morrowind. The graphic looks really sweet, characters are very detailed and lighting is beautiful, but I have yet see the outdoor environment. So far it plays silky smooth (see my sig) with pretty much everything max out (except shadows) at 1680x1050 w/HDR and vsyn. No AA option is available for HDR so I can definately see aliasing at the NPC's face and hand area. It feels as smooth as WoW at 16x10 with a X800XL so far.

Like the ign preview said, the interface is hard to decipher so a manu would be needed. Other than that can't really give any opinion till I get deeper into the game. If it plays like Morrowind then I doubt I'll be able to finish the game.

I was with you until this comment. After struggling with Eve Online a few weeks back, (cough) followed by FFXI on the 360 (projectile vomit), this interface is a breeze, very intuitive.

Fortunately I haven't played any of those games. It's all relative i guess. Speaking of relative the load time is really quick, and near instantaneous relative to BF2.

I got it earlier today and just spent a couple hours playing it. I'm not sure that I'm going to play it anymore. I spent the first hour and a half clearing out those ruins across the stream from the prison sewer exit. Then I made my way into town and looked at all the shops.

Graphics are nice. Runs smooth, no problems.

P4 3ghz, 1gb ram, 6800gt.

Just not a very exciting game. Although the sound is pretty good. Hearing an arrow fly past you is cool as it passes through your front, mid and rear surrounds.

Got it installed and played for a while. I'm running a X800XL at 1920x1200(Widescreen!!!) and settings at high. Runs perfectly smooth w/ fps of high 20s to high 30s. I know someone mentioned load times being slow at 10-20 seconds between maps but it only took a couple of seconds for me.

Yeah, loads are super quick for me too. We're both running RAID arrays though.

Wow. I thought this game was going to be killing peoples rigs and people saying it was poorly coded because of that. I guess I'll pick it up this weekend.

Yeah, it's not nearly as hard on my system as I thought. It autodetected to High at 10x7 with HDR. But it was running fairly smooth outside. The inside levels are super smooth, but outdoors reaks havoc... I had to turn off HDR and lessen the texture details, but now it's uber smooth.

Overall, this game is fun. Period. I've been playing for 6 hours straight, and the only reason I'm stopping is to go out to the bar. I'm having a blast with my 'lowly' rig.

I played for an hour or two until I died in "Oblivion." Didn't figure out that those swirling spikey things were mines until too late. I guess that'll teach me to save. Anyway, I'm glad to see the main story line isn't so boring straight off the bat (compared to Morrowind). It's also nice to see I can actually fight something besides crabs early on. Hopefully the enemies are balanced throughout the game. Sometimes in Morrowind it felt like everything was either too weak or too strong.

If anyone has some video card benchmarks for this game, I'd like to see them. I'm considering a new card, but would like to see how, say, an 1800xt fares against a 7900GT.

edit: Oh yeah, and in response to the guards taking stolen items... I thought it was stupid, but it never bothered me in Morrowind. Whenever a guard was coming after me, I just quickly opened my inventory and dropped all my items. That way, they can't take them .

yeah, handles it real well on the settings it detects for it, its only 640 x 480 and the graphics are medium (haven't messed with anything though) but doesn't make it any less fun.
