I'm guessing playing this on an AMD Athlon XP 2400+ with 512 megs of PC3200 and a Radeon 9700 Pro is pretty much out of the question? I guess I'll wait until I can afford to upgrade or get an Xbox 360.
You might be able to play it. Just get a 6800gt and another stick of 512 and see what happens. This game seems to be playing rather well on low end rigs.
Damn, that would be pricey. I'd need two sticks of 512 for dual channel since right now I have 2x256. So around $67 for the memory at Newegg, plus $200 or so for the card. I might as well just wait and get a 360.
Your 9700pro will play it at lower settings. I have friends running the game on mobile X300s, and those are even slower.
BTW, I heard in this game that enemies level up with you. That sounds pretty sucky, since, like Final Fantasy 8, it pretty much takes away the point of leveling, as the only way to get more powerful than enemies is with better equipment. More realistic I suppose (since a naked man in real life could never take down a guard either), but I'm wondering if the game might be more enjoyable if I installed Oscuro's mod, which puts set limits on enemy levels. (meaning that the game can't be beat at a low level, since some things just will start at level 40, rather than just being whatever level you are) I'm still debating it personally, I don't want to ruin the game with a 3rd party patch, but on the other hand, the more traditional idea of level caps for enemies sounds better.
After Thoronir and whats-his-name have the conversation in the back alley, and you have to tail him back to his house, sneak up on him and pickpocket his "Debaser" sword. (May as well swipe his housekey too while you're at it.) He'll be unarmed when you confront him in the crypt. You can then beat him up with his own sword, and/or fence it for a nice bit 'o gold
That would have been really nice to know at the time! Also, I ended up glitching the quest the first time, I casted eye of fear on him when he was about to talk to me in the crypt (thinking it'd help with the negotiations) and he ran out of the crypt, with the crypt key, and didn't come back. It was kind of hard to defeat him though, it was the first fight in the game where I had to use some strategy. The pillars in the crypt were really helpful to hide behind.
Chameleon 100% will completely hide you, most of the time. I was able to attack Imperial Guards while standing in plain site. They ran because they couldn't find their attacker. They did not arrest me afterwards because they didn't know it was me.
Don't you turn visible when you attack?
