i believe - if you are patient enough - by repeatedly going to jail - you can push it to Level 255 [before it rolls back over to Level 1 . . . OR you can do that with the console and save a few hundred hours]
i was just fooling around . . . and found Skill books that can push my skills even higher . . . AND where the heck is the 4th Chest for My Damn Omnipotence Ring . . . i found three . . . so far . . .
. . . you DO know about the Sequentially Unlocked 4 chests in Pale Pass?
[it doesn't appear in any Quest log . . . but the Reward is nice]
:Q
edit: found it . . . !
i started on the wrong end of the Serpent's Trail . . . the 4th one is really easy to find.
[and the Ring ain't that nice . . . confirs a bunch of "+3s"]
:Q
. . . and i may have to ReOpen an Oblivion Gate - or two . . . there is a Special Bow and the Mace of Hatred - does speed and fire damage - and other stuff hidden INSIDE a pool of Lava.
Heh, I forgot about jail, but my understanding was that regaining skills lost in jail wouldn't help you level. I guess that's not how it works. I just counted the 525 potentially possible skill increases plus 40 potential more from Oghma...
There's a few undocumented things I'm aware of, as a game guide owner I made a rule not to use the book to spoil stuff for myself, but I would read the quest descriptions as post-mortems... so I found out about Ring of Omnipotence that way (and I agree, it's sucky).
There's a better ring hidden somewhere in Skingrad
Bow and Mace - Yeah, that's the "Embers of Hatred" deal I spoke of. I thought it was only available through the Chorrol Gate in the main quest, but I have discovered that you can get it through a random one - possibly multiple times - since the random gates will produce that same map... the one where there is a circle of 7 towers in front of you, and a sinking tower behind you.
The guide book isn't perfect, though - it has at least 2 errors in it that I know of, and it doesn't mention Fin Gleam at all (have you found it?).

had you seen the ring of perfection ~ !!!!? It's awesome
I've gotten it, sadly I didn't save after doing so and accidentally wiped it. Easy to get though if you're 20+. Head to Robber's Glen Cave on the road north of Bravil, save outside, raid it, if you don't get RoP out of one of the chests in there, reload and try again. There's 14 chests (several are "boss" type) in there guarded by 13 imps and a minotaur, ALWAYS 13 imps and a minotaur regardless of your level. That's a total cakewalk for a 20+ char. Imp Gall is a KILLER ingredient for high level poisoncraft to boot!

Have fun with ogres, goblin warlords and gloom wraiths at level 50+, if you enjoy clicking for 100+ times to kill them.
At 50+ one should have access to enchanting altars, a vast stockpile of Daedric base weapons to enchant, Azura's Star, a Master Alchemy set, have mastered Alchemy, not to mention at least 25 Sneak skill... if a player uses all that is at their disposal in this game for dealing damage to leveled enemies, they can all be killed more quickly than you think. FAR more quickly.

Is Umbra supposed to be tough? Took me about ten seconds to finish that fight- I was expecting something cool but instead found a complete whimp. I was level 34 at the time, just wanted to comment on that because I keep seeing people bring it up.
It depends. Some people try to take her at level 3 I confronted her @ level 25 with my previous char as well as my current one. The first char had poor equipment at the time, so-so Health, and ended up having to use a cheesy approach to killing her. That char was a fantastic learning experience, though, all told... the current char (the recipient of the wisdom gained by the first) was well prepared, and tore her to shreds in face-to-face combat. Ogres and Brown Bears have more fight in them than she does, TBH.
