Honestly dude, I think you're getting yourself a little dizzy as you try to scale your way up to the uber-lewt-spewing Fleshy Pod that's in there. I always try to roll that particular map when I clear an Oblivion gate (It's the Skingrad Gate map) since that particular boss pod is so easy to get to and re-roll for optimal goodies. Most of my Master alchemy set came from re-rolling that pod. I've been in that tower many times... never moved while I was in there.

yes . . . but it is actually an advantage to work on your minors . . . that way you level more slowly . . . and don't have to adjust the difficulty slider down.

726 Hours . . . using the jail "cheat" - it isn't a cheat - and leveled to Level 54 [5 beyond what is possible without "exploiting" the game] . .. ALL 21 Skills are MAXed and only Personality and Luck are below 100.

. . and Maxx' Junkyard is a reality using the 2nd floor of my Skingrad house.

I don't mind working on my minors but it is a pain when most of my majors are combat skills. So I basically can't fight until I have +10 in my other minors which means a ton of grinding.

I think I will just use the console cheat to add skill points. The game is getting way too grindtastic.

. . . at least 'temporarily' . . . once you use the console, there is no turning back - it may mess up your leveling and you will be stuck using it forever.

and 'Sneak' is awesome for complementing non-combat skills . . . look for Chameleon also. . . . and Master Trainers and Skill books.

it's the crazy way the tower tilts . . . especially if you try to run up . . . gives the illusion of movement . . . i guess i was confused.

i have a question about sneak multiplier damage - i just enchanted my glass sword with shock +20 damage from a sigil stone on top of the 10pts of damage it normally does.

when I sneak and smack someone with it it, I get 6x damage - is that 6x 10 damage + 20 or is it 6 x 30 damage?

it's (6 x 10) + elemental damage

Do NOT take my suggestion to build a Junkyard . . .

it is a seriously bad idea [unles you have an Uber (uber) computer].

i stacked about 2 million worth of loot out side Rosethorn Hall . . . a nice 'pile' . . .

BUT, the computer just struggled to render everything . . . i was getting major slowdowns and even 'wire frame' effects . . . had to get rid of it all before the game crashed and i lost 'something'. . . . oh yeah, now 7 million in Gold in the bank.

ANYway, i am Level 58/775 hours . . . Just Personality and Luck to go to *Max Everything* . . . and as Luck can be added only one point at a time i have about 30 levels to go.

good thing the 'jail trick' works so well . . . i only need to Lose 10 points of Athletics in Jail . . . add 5 back with the Master Trainer and "run in a corner" for 5 more . . .

rinse and repeat.

the jail trick is awesome if you don't want to *cheat*.

AFAIK, it is the *same* as if you got to hit your enemy six-times-in-a-row - 6x10
[but only the first hit adds +20 elemental damage once]

and don't forget to poison your blade also

i beat umbra the other night... i have to say it wasn't too difficult.. level 15 battlemage. I smacked her from above with a bow of freezing for 3x damage..

conjured a clannfear when she ran up and started hacking at her with my enchanted sword (+20 electrical damage)... it was over pretty quick and I didn't even have to heal myself during the fight.

my question is, is umbra's armor good for anything? i have the sword and picked up all the armor, but am tempted to sell it.

Also, how exactly do you use Azura's star? i have it in my inventory, but no souls ever get placed in it - only in my soul gems.

Umbra's armor is nothing special, I just displayed it in my Skingrad house to remind myself I finnaly kicked her @ss...been decorating with my collections. Umbra was quite a challenge for me @ level 17 being an archer and having very little mage skills. I'm level 34 now and would destroy her if fought again, but each "class" situation will be different.

Umbra's Sword is one of the strongest in the game, definitely a keeper. Azura's Star works like a soul gem, but if you have actual "emtpy" soul gems in your inventory, those will get priority over Azura Star, so that's why your Star isn't getting filled. When all your gems are filled(or you can store them away andf remove them fromm inventory), only then will Azura Star be used.

why is it sad? because i am not buying any new games?

i stayed under a mandatory evvacuation order in the SoCal Wild Fire . . . stayed awake for 4 days [with the car packed and ready to 'go'] . . . the computer stayed on the kitchen table - ready to 'go' in an instant if the fire headed toward my property . . . and Oblivion stayed on - 24 hours a day - while i cleared more and brush.

it is not somuch "playing" as it is "exploiting" the game . . . . go to jail and lose 10 points of athletics, hit the master trainer for 5 , run in a corner and level up again . . .rinse and repeat.

Only "Luck" is less than 100 = at Level 87 . . . i shut Oblivion Down when it hits 100 [in a few more hours]

I finished Condemned and HL2:ep1, played Prey for a few hours and now I'm back to Oblivion. I'm trying to do all the lower profile quests now.

Ah ok. Well that's not so bad then, if those hours were not all spent actually playing the game..

For me though, I started getting bored when I realized there were no more new weapons/armor and no more new enemies to fight. I felt no motivation to level up because of that. So all that was left for me was the story line. To be honest I found the combat to be a bit boring and very repetative, good thing they made entertaining quests.

Amazing that you have such commitment.

. . . and it turned out as "something to do" in an extremely stressful situation . . .

today - after a week 'off' due to a "wildfire vacation" and all day yesterday doing "flood control", i'm finally baack to work . . . and Oblivion is finally *done* tonight . . . it reached Level 92 this AM while i slept and Luck is "99" UNfortified . . . Last level . . . tonight . . .

one more quick run thru Rockmilk Cave and Ft.Wooden Hand [i am just shy of 8 million Gold] and a final closure of an Oblivion Gate [to "test" an essentially Level 50 Character in a near Level 100 situation] and i PUT it AWAY 'till the expansion pack.

if i actually spent 1000+ hours "playing" Oblivion . . .

. . . i'd be pretty bored by now.

Oblivion can [now] consider itself fully "exploited". :brokenheart:

Infamy is 94 . . . *Everything Maxed* . . . and 151 "souls claimed" by the Mehrunes Dagger [btw, use "sneak" if you are a 'master' that way you ignore your opponent's armour rating, fortify Luck and you can get more certain one-hit kills]

and i [also] believe that the Oblivion 'clock' runs better than +10% fast. . . . . .

Anyone upgrading their video card should uninstall and reinstall (after restart) Oblivion, otherwise you may get a blank blue screen or artifacting video when playing.

First hand experience, btw. I went from a 9800 Pro to a 7600GS and got the symptoms mentioned. Everything was solved once I reinstalled OB.

Has anybody finished this game at level 1 yet?

I think it could be done.
If you avoid all the side quests, if you pick all magic skills for your primaries and then never cast spells, and if you instant travel as much as possible, I think it could be a possibility.

I'd like to make it my next project, but I beat the game once with a fighter, then took a break and restarted with a mage (who is already level 18). I guess I wont be experimenting with that idea anytime soon.

and "killing everyone" is impossible . . . . the NPCs will respawn.

i once made a pile of guards in a tower - so high - i couldn't loot half the bodies . . . :evil:

i also tried to make a "junkyard" - bad idea . . . you can pile enough stuff to choke an uber-computer.

Of course, you could always delete your saves, jump off Dive Rock, and Ride Akatosh.

EDIT: Yes, Shorty . . . you can easily beat the game at level one . . . simply don't sleep.

In fact, there is someone on the Official Forums that has completed the MQ withOUT killing a single anything!!! [he got by Mankor Cameron with Silence and Frenzy]

OK, sorry, I tried reading through the thread but my eyes started to bleed. I am about 50 hours into the game and all of a sudden I am accused of stealing from both the mages and fighters guild. I didn't and can't think why I have been tagged as such. Now I have 2 innane quests to go on to get back into the guilds, is this just part of the game?

you might have hit an ally or struck your horse [that is a glitch with the horse] . . . REload from an earlier save - or do the quests [no biggie . . . it adds to the *quests completed* tally]

I once stole from a guy during a mage quest; I was in sneak mode and clicked on him to try and talk to him...

The quest was ridiculous to get back into the guild. I had to retrieve 10 so and so items, and I didn't want to do it. I cheated and used the console code to have them spawn into my inventory, hehe

know what? I hate cheating, never would NORMALLY do it, but in this case, I didn't steal, and the game fubar'd me. I am NOT going to hunt down 20 bears, or 20 dragon tongue leaves or 20 whatever the hell else they want. What is the console command to give me those items? Thanks!

what's wrong with reloading?

you can use the Archmages' Chest to dupe most items and isn't the TG just a "fine"?
