I don't think a touch on the shoulder deserves any suspensions.

For winning a game they were supposed to win? No. Some schools would do that though. Glad the BSU fans didn't, they realized they were favored.

OSU was the favorite by 6.5 pts

No one had anything coming there. If you can't handle shit talk in the game of football (especially when you were running your trap before the game) then you need to find another sport. Well, at least this guy won't be playing in the Pac 10 any time soon.

Talking smack and tapping on the shoulder of a big angry black dude is not a good idea in that situation. He was definitely an instigator, even if it was a stupid move by Blount (which apparently directly after the game he recognized and apologized for). Anyway, one punch doesn't end your college/pro career. He's a top RB...I actually never noticed him before but his 2008 stats are impressive.

I say a 1 game suspension for BSU guy, 4 games for Blount.

One game seems too light, should be a couple imo. There must be precedent already established for punishment for landing a punch after a game, this has happened many times.

It's not just the punch to the BSU player though. Blount went completely postal, hit one of his own players, fought with his coaches, tried to go jump in the BSU student section, and needed security guards and cops to pull him into the locker room.

I wouldn't be surprised to see an indefinite suspension.

That actually looked like Oregon took it into their own hands. Good for them, it's inexcusable. Just because someone talked some ish. What a baby. Run for more than -5 yards and show them on the field, not in some blindside sucker punch with your helmet on.

He didnt start shit. He was TALKING shit, and thats the standard in college & professional football. I dont even watch football and I know that.
And a college senior should know it too.
Running their mouths is a healthy anger outlet that keeps them from beating on each other. We did the same thing in the Navy.

He put his hands on the guy. Talking shit does not involve touching the other person which is completely out of line.

The Boise State guy had it coming, but Blount's suspension is appropriate. You go around popping off to the wrong guy, you're gonna get clocked. Blount showed that he's a thug, which gets you credit on the street, just not on the grass.

If you carry that much grudge, do you walk around everyday with a loaded 9mm ready to shoot somebody's face when they touch you? Seek help, you got issues.

surfsatwerk is right, BSU player was the instigator.

Season long suspension is ridiculously excessive, a knee-jerk reaction from the NCAA (who always seems to be wrong). They should of spent at least a couple days to review everything that happened. BSU player instigates a brawl (could of been a lot worse), Blount goes nuts and hits him right in his big dumb face. Blount was very apologetic in the locker room, which surprised me, I didn't even think they would let him talk to anyone. 4 games max. The whole season is ridiculous.

Some prick purposely stepped on Chase Budinger's face last season in NCAA hoops and he was suspended ONE game in a 30+ game season.

You're forgetting the part where Blount went postal, attacked one of his fellow players, attacked coaches, tried to jump into the stands to attack BSU fans, and had to be dragged off the field by security and cops.

If it had simply been Blount cold-cocking the BSU player, a 1 game suspension would have been likely.

And Blount wasn't suspended by the NCAA. He was suspended by Oregon.

I agree, I think that was a huge part of it.

Punching a guy in the face after getting a little shove could be interpreted as a momentary loss of control, or a flash of anger.

Punching a guy in the face and then shoving teammates, going after fans, and having to be dragged off the field by security goes beyond that.

ah yeah I see now he was suspended by Oregon. I thought I heard differently.

Welp, it kinda sucks but oh well. I don't like Oregon anyhow...annoying arse fans. Will be easier for my Wildcats to beat them without Blount too

This isn't something that happened at the bus stop. In the context of a football game putting your hands on another player when the ball is not it in play is inexcusable behavior.

This isn't about the BSU player. Its up to bsu how they want to handle Hout, but what he did isn't going to land anyone a punishment from the ncaa and shouldn't. Its not the NFL.

Blount has been a problem child - this isn't his first issue with the team. He was already reinstated from an indefinite team suspension. OSU handled it the way they felt was best in the context of what happened and his history.

End of story.

LOL. Way to blow everything out of proportion in an attempt to solidify your own opinion.

Yeah, both looked dismal last night. But, it is the season opener. The sad thing is BSU doesn't play anyone the rest of the season. Would like to see them play at least one or two good teams this year to see if they're actually any good. They'll probably go undefeated but won't belong in the championship game. Or maybe they are a top 10 team...really need playoffs

First of all, OSU is either Oregon State, Ohio State or Oklahoma State University. The team that played on Thursday was U of O, UO or University of Oregon. Secondly, Boise State was the favorite who opened at -6.5 but was -3.5 by game time.

I really didn't feel the need to correct you the first time, but since you repeated this misinformation, I felt I had to step in.

Carry on.
