OFFICIAL Outlander - The Starz Series Thread. CONFIRMED

So the show premiered last night on Starz. My wife was into the books by Diane Gabaldon so we checked it out last night.

I enjoyed it. It looks like it could be on par with Game of Thrones in terms of intrigue. Judging from the series opener it will also be graphic in both violence and nudity but told from a more female perspective.

My wife liked it too.

The story is about a post WWII English nurse who is thrown back to Scotland in the 1740's after touching a stone ring. Show runner is Ron Moore of Battlestar Galactica fame. Music is by Bear McCreary also of BSH fame.

The premiere was a little heavy on voiceover exposition but I have some hope in that they trusted the audience enough to know what was going on when the cast was speaking Gaelic without subtitles.

Anyone else watching or watching with an SO?

I'd say the premier was solid. I haven't read the books, but my wife has, and she was happy with it.

In fact she was actively sad when the episode ended. Couldn't wait for next week.

She and her husband are in Scotland and witness some Druid ceremony in a sacred stone circle on Samhain. Later she touches one of the stones and wakes up in 1740's Scotland getting shot at by red coats under the command of her husbands ancestor. Guy appears to be lovely person as he tries raping her two minutes after they meet. Only to be saved/captured by some highlanders the red coats were chasing.

It's like that episode of Star Trek. You know, the one with the time travel.

Watched the premier with my wife last night. Neither of us have read the books but knew the basic premise going in.

Unsure if we'll watch the second episode. It was a chore making it through the first.

2nd episode was pretty decent. I'm finding it a cross between Game of Thrones and Downton Abbey.

I think the wife and I will be watching the rest of this season.

First episode just premiered... I like it.

They spent a reasonable amount of time building her backstory and her relationship with the hubby.

Is it worth watching guys? Has a high rating on IMDB but I've been burned by that before.
