Did you read the Gamespot article about Gamestop shorting pre-orders again? It looks like even though they were more careful this time they are still going to get burned. They are supposed to be contacting people with pre-orders today to let them know if they are getting a system at launch or not. I wonder what this means for all those people that sold pre-orders on Ebay? haha.

Yeah, it is linked in my OP. It sounds like the # of Gamestop pre-orders is getting cut in half. Fortunately, I'm in the top half.

All those people that sold pre-orders and are in the bottom half are screwed. I hope they haven't spent the money that was sent to them because they are going to have to refund it.

Wal-Mart bases distribution numbers on the history of stores selling. Sometimes a newer store doesn't get because they don't have a history or haven't done much in the way of selling in the video game department.

I see it like this. We recieved 16 Xbox 360's... We are only getting 6 ps3's. I will be inline by wensday night.

You taking yours to Ebay or keeping it? Our local EB Games only had 2 pre-orders for the public, so I didn't even bother trying. I'm hoping that I can score one in the weeks following launch. Remember when BB had 1 or 2 final unadvertised shipments of the 360 the final week or so before Christmas? That's when I got the 360.

Ebay. This'll go towards my son's private school next year and possibly another PS3 when they become more readily available and good games other than Resistance come out.

If I can get one before Christmas I think I'll be Ebaying as well. I'll then put the profit towards a new PC or maybe toward wood flooring in our den. I'll likely end up with a PS3 a year or so from now if the price has dropped and/or there is a nice supply of good games.

Well 1Up gave Resistance: Fall of Man a decent review...link.

We'll have to see as more reviews come in. This is really the only game that I'm remotely intersted in. The idea seems neat (story wise), well a mix between HL2 and COD. The graphics look pretty good...although they don't appear to be near Gears of War good. Interested to see what scores other critics give it.

Yep. Resistance is literally the only PS3 launch title I'm interested in. I'm a sucker for alternative history story-lines but not that much of a sucker.

Why are people so hyped over this system? Honest question. I honestly don't see why someone with, say, a 360 would want to shell out another $600 for this system.

Many people aren't that hyped. I'd say a large number of people you see hyped about the system on the internet are hyped about Ebay profits.

Beyond that, many of us are just gaming addicts. Every system will end up with great exclusive titles and some people simply must play them all.

PS3 Exclusives. Unfortunately, the big exclusives aren't around for launch.

I'm willing ot bet that a majority of games won't even fill 25 gigs and could've easily fit on a dvd.

It's just the latest status symbol, and the rest are people that fall for Sony's BS that they spew about.

It really comes down to what system can game developers take better advantage of. The PS2 was a nightmare to code for, whereas the Xbox ran on direct X so it was very easy to develop games. All that fancy hardware that the PS3 has won't mean spit if no one can figure out how to use it to it's full potential.
