As it turns out, gamers who own older HD sets that boast only 480i, 480p, and 1080i resolutions will have 720p signals downsized to 480 instead of being upscaled to 1080i. We tested this development on older television sets with max-720 games Resistance: Fall of Man, NHL 2K7, Tiger Woods PGA Tour 07, and Need for Speed Carbon. Sure enough, the system downscaled all four titles to 480p rather than moving up to 1080i.

WTF was Sony thinking?

You know the market will be flooded with a ton of PS3 auctions. I know people will make easy $$$ but I find it hard to believe eBayers will pay $1,500+ for a $599 PS3? I guess we'll find out in a few days.

If I really wanted one this year I could see paying $1,000 for the convenience of not camping out, but $1,500+ is a bit crazy.

...of course I decided to spend my money on something else instead

in reading the FW thread about this, all of the Best Buys and Circuit Cities have more people in line than the store's supply...(one of the CC's that has 100 units has 108 people line already)...alot of the BB's around Dallas have had people camping out since Monday or Tuesday...

Yeah, I didnt get i line. I went after work and Bestbuy was funny bunch of camping tents. Walmart had 10 people waiting for 10 units, Target had 12 people and exactly 12 units. Circuit City had 12 also, but they were not allowing people to camp out. The mall was not allowing that. Come back at 6am friday they said. But these dudes that looked like a gang had control of the parking lot already. Their leader was telling anyone show up how they already had 12 people and were going to wait in the parking lot.

I'm telling you, I really think that people are overestimating the demand for the PS3. Even in Japan, auctions are going for near retail price.

Guess somebody was paying attention to the Japanese launch. He's hired homeless people to wait in line for him.

I find this strange as the news report says he's paying 50 guys $100/day to wait, but the store he's at only has 8 PS3s for sale. I guess he's dropping them around town at different stores and the report neglected to mention it. Something tells me that guy's gonna get screwed.

The CC near me has 6, and there was about 15-20 people camped outside. The first group of people had baseball bats and were threatening to hit anyone that tried to get inside and cut them. The cops came and escorted these losers off the premises, after they had waited about a day and a half in mostly rainy weather.

I'm half tempted to go there after work and be like "do you people know there's only 6 in there?" so the last 10 people on line will feel like complete idiots for waiting 3 days for nothing.

There were people at my local Wal-Mart lined up waiting. The first person got there two days ago. Fvckin ridiculous, but he only plans on trying to sell it on eBay. The wal-mart said they were only getting 8 consoles in yet there were at least 30 people there last night. I hope they realize they're wasting their damned time for a fvckin console. Worthless.

My friend and I tried out the PS3. Overall, decent. Just feels like a PS2 with better graphics. The sixaxis is unresponsive as far as I could tell.

I'm not getting any console this year. I want FF13 when it comes out next year, but only if the PS3 is (significantly) cheaper. My friend is getting the Wii and is planing on camping out this weekend. I think he's an idiot. I wouldn't waste my time waiting for a console, but then again, I'm no game freak I guess.

People lined up at a local Wal-Mart yesterday starting at noon. Their allotment of 12 was taken up by 6PM. Called around and similar things happening at other local Wal-Marts. The funny thing is, there are a couple of 24-hour Wal-Marts that aren't letting people wait inside. They are making them wait outside.

Supposedly, Cops warned the Wal-Mart and Sam's manager about people casing the campers waiting in line. They are going to be providing security escorts to cars and are warning people not to drive straight home lest they are followed.

Good reason to not buy the first PS3's off the line.

Also any games that require the PS2 hard drive (Final Fantasy XI and DJ Box I?m looking at you) won?t work with the Playstation 3.

I just read this too. I think it's funny how this has been posted for about 4 hours now and nobody else has addressed it.

Now I'm gonna get to go to work and rain on a co-worker's parade. He think's he's going to get 3 of them and flip 'em for about 3K each.
