Now that Sony has shut down the biggest flop in the history of gaming to stop the bleeding, I'm awfully curious to see their potential PS5 Pro pricing scheme.

Me too. I just saw the trailer yesterday. I think NO marketing was done. I never saw a single Youtube ad for it or even a banner ad somewhere since I don't use ad blockers.

But LMAO, going live the week that Deadlock hit a wider audience - and hitting up to 100k concurrent players - any oxygen it might have had was sucked straight out of the room.

That's a big assumption lol, Jim Ryan steered the brand into the ground with all the live service crap they pushed. Wasted all this time and money trying to get Naughty Dog to do live service crap too until ND just abandoned it, saying they'd be able to do nothing but their live service game if they didn't. While yeah the Japan price hike was a combination of the weak Japanese yen with extremely heavy demand from China after WuKong's release, don't forget the PS5 Slim got a $50 price hike for the digital edition and frankly both editions felt like they got another $30 price hike needing to buy the vertical stand separately now too, as PS5 is such a giant console nobody I know who has one uses it horizontally.

Rebranding and allocating those assets elsewhere would certainly be a viable option, but they need to purge the name. I'd imagine (if I were running Sony) there's an EO to erase any existence of this game, because, though unlikely, this is the first time I've ever seen a Sony produced game where it may be possible to harm the brand for an extended period of time. Even Nintendo shortly after the announcement put a trailer on their new Mario Bros game, something about welcome to Concordia. Based & savage, I have some new-found respect for them.

As to the PS5 Pro, while I of course would understand their rationale to raise the price to make up for this loss (reports of about $200 million usd), I'm not going to buy it. I have a PC and can always switch out the GPU, and hit up you guys on how to utilize the PC --> TV options.

I was at Target picking up some stuff and caved and also snagged Astrobot.

I am glad I did. It's very fun and really good. My son loves watching me play it. It's pretty impressive how many Playstation easter eggs are in the game. I would be surprised if people under 30 will even understand most of them. You can just tell how much of a passion project it is and how much the devs absolutely care about it being a quality title.

I 100% the PSVR version, I 100% the launch PS5 pack in version, and I intend to 100% this game as well.

Quoting @marees here w/regards to an official unveiling of the Pro:

"The stream will start at 8AM PT / 11AM ET / 4PM UK on September 10th and will be broadcast on the PlayStation YouTube channel. Sony hasn’t provided any further details about the technical presentation, but the announcement comes just after Sony teased the PS5 Pro in a 30th anniversary PlayStation image."

Should be fun to have more to talk about.

Wonder if the Pro will come with a good version of the DualSense that doesn't get stick drift. Probably not since the DualSense has become a nice recurrent revenue stream for Sony, and they just jacked the price of them up another $5 to $75. Worst controller I have ever used by a mile.

I remember the original PS1 Dual Shock was a lot better and actually a revelation. Had never been excited so much playing with a controller before. Feeling the different road textures and bumps in Need for Speed or



Sony has lost its way.

I'm on my third PS5 controller. First one got progressively worse drift as time went one. Took it apart on numerous occasions for cleaning but on one cleaning the 99% alcohol ate through the ribbon cables as I used too much. Second one starting drifting a bit and I whacked the crap out of and its still working but I bought a third one just in case. They are still infinitely better than the MS Elite pro bullshit that MS sells. I went through 2 of those and they are a bitch to work on and cost way more.

I still have the original dual sense since I originally got my ps5. One of them I pretty much broke playing stellar blade out of frustration but luckily all buttons and sticks still work.

The battery life though sucks and I barely play 1-2hrs a week if I get the time.

I also read about Astrobot being sold out on Amazon so I made sure to order it even though I've been out the country on vacation for the past 2 weeks. Looking forward to enjoying that title and I'm glad they made a full game out of it.

Yep, I get that. I expect that we'll see a bounce up to Zen 5C or so with the next gen device, they have to hold some goodies back for the future.

Chances are it will be around $700. Unless you go for the model without the disc drive. I was reading about GameStop offering trade in value of $380 for the PS5 plus an additional $20 if you're a pro subscriber. Hopefully when the Pro releases the trade value will be decent but if many folks end up trading in I could see the price dropping. Probably better to try and sell it locally once you have the new one in hand.

I am a disc game guy, so... I need that.

At this point, I am eyeing the Series X in my living room and wondering if we both xbox and PS5 or if I should pick one. We let Game Pass lapse and that was like the end of us using the xbox. We do have and One X kicking around here "just in case" we wanted to play a MS title we own.

At this point, our 360 gets more use for playing Guitar Hero/Rock band, as silly as that is.
