Yeah, 30th unavailable the moment my queue ended, and I was able to enter. So, as I've said, not interested in the vanilla Pro, and will now await for the PS6. I had the queue on my iPhone, MacBook, Thinkpad, iPad and Desktop, but to all to no avail.

Just not one of the lucky ones, I suppose. Well, see y'all when the PS6 is about to launch!
You can bet the PS6 will be $800 too if these Pros are selling out so quickly and a gray paint job can make people go crazy for a $1000 digital console.

ROFL Sony not announcing that 30th Anniversary Edition was $1000 until the day of preorders

For me, I wanted it for sentimental reasons, and would have paid $1,500 for it. It's just one of those collectors items which has meaning in my live, since I'm hardcore gamer at heart. I've always enjoyed gaming a gazillion times more than movies & TV shows, where you just sit there an do nothing.

As to the device itself, it's not a game changer for me, since my current PC is adequate enough. Playing on my big OLED TV just isn't in the cards, I suppose.

RE: PS6 for $800

Well, I suppose we'll all evaluate it then! However, unless it's a special item with sentimental personal value to me, I'm pretty unemotional when it comes to my price vs value analysis, and will always stick to it.

Is this normal for a console to be put up for pre-order before it's even sent out to reviewers much less before reviews drop? Because this sounds like a big red flag that maybe PS5 Pro isn't going to be as impressive as the 45% claim Cerny made.

Probably be able to find one for $1500 from a scalper

Yes, that happens literally at every console launch lol.

To each his/her own, of course. But, for me, I came of age during the Moore's Law era, and find it peculiar to see devices tout higher performance with a corresponding higher price point. I'm more accustomed to higher performance at the same or lower price point.

I see no reason to change my views.

Very much disagree. If someone paid a scalper $1200 instead of $700 to Walmart for a PS5 Pro that buyer is much less likely to buy an extra controller, maybe buys one game instead of three, etc. Sony doesn't want scalpers buying these.

They are a corporation and want to make money like any other company. Sony doesn't care who buys them at the end of the day because they get money from the initial sale anyway. Then they get money from games and accessories once a client has a console.

They are going for $3k right now on eBay, for the 30th editions. I'll be happy with my 30th edition controller for now.

It costs them money if (when) the Scalpers return it when they can't find a buyer.

At least for the 30th anniversary editions, confirmed orders from Sony sold on eBay for $3500-4k already. Check the sold listings. There are some regular PS5 pro models too for $1k already sold lol.

Figure those are Scalpers making fake sold listings just to inflate the market (that end up not actually 'selling' so the don't have to pay eBay anything)

Also as someone who has scalped consoles on ebay in the past, many people will buy your stuff and then simply not pay you and have no contact with you, and then you are in ebay limbo for a while because ebay won't take action for a while.

The Pro is still in stock from Sony Direct.

There is no demand for this thing.

I remember when they would put up PS5's multiple times after launch when they were still nearly impossible to find in stores, those things would sell out immediately.

This is what puzzles me. Why would anyone currently place a bid on eBay, while it's readily available on the Playstation site? Moreover, on Oct 6th, they'll be available on Amazon, Best Buy, Walmart, etc.

If it isn't really selling now, it's a safe bet either demand is softer than expected or supply is more plentiful this time.

I don't get the obsession with the 30th anniversary edition. $300 more to look less ugly?

While I can only speak for myself, it's because I'm a huge Sony Playstation fan. When it was introduced, I really wanted one but was a luxury I couldn't afford (my parents refused to buy me one!). So, for sentimental reasons, would love to have one below my big TV.

In my view, I think it looks great! If I had a PS5, I would've picked up a 30th Ann controller.

The 30th edition is not really more expensive than a regular pro plus a dual sense edge. It also has a charging station for the controllers which if you were to add all these separatelynane a stand, would cost about the same as it's priced.

There will be another chance to get a 30th edition Oct 10 from other retailers. I'll try then as well and return the order from PSN direct if I do get one.

I prefer the color of it anyway.

Good plan! I wasn't aware we'll have another chance on Oct 10th! Ok, I'll hang on to my disc drive and try my luck again on the 10th.

Why would they be happy selling less games and less accessories when they know they could sell out without scalpers? Makes no sense.

Yeah it sucks when I see a gpu for $400 that's only as fast as the gpu I could have bought two years ago for $400 and didn't think it was worth the money then.

Yeah, it was unplayable for me on my HD 7950. Between patches and a 1070 upgrade, it was much better.
The PC port was done by the same studio that wrecked the The Last Of Us Part 1 pc port. But once the PC port was fixed by Rocksteady and re-released it played really well on my GTX 970.

Lol a lot of stuff Sony is doing does not make sense. Are they even reading the room correctly releasing a pro? For their metrics the special edition sold out today. There were only 12300 of them, they don't care who bought them. If they wanted to cater to fans they would have made more of the special edition models if you want to put your consumers first.

Meanwhile the regular pro is still available for purchase which indicates it's likely not going to sell out until maybe Christmas when demand might actually pick up but I doubt it.

They had probably counted on and assumed Concord would be a runaway hit by this point, the ER of live service games where millions upon millions of gamers would be clamoring for a new console to play a fully optimized version of the game.

I'm sure it was sobering when the game they were so sure of was popular only with a few hundred gamers in the world. I'd imagine that's why the Pro intro was so lackluster and their State of Play was just lame.

So now, if you have a PS5, why buy a Pro? If you're like us, what are we going to play? 2025 isn't even here yet, and the stuff they showed didn't really excite or resonate with me.
