Sony is buying Bungie, the developer of Destiny and original creator of Halo
Another huge acquisition in the gaming industrywww.theverge.com
Let the "gobbling up all gaming studios" arms race begin!
Bungie has had an interesting path. Mac developer > MS buys them > spin off > Close ties with Activision > Spin off > Sony buys them
They should bring back Myth, that game was awesome.
Take 2 owns the IP. Same with Oni presumably. I think the only thing the actually own is Destiny.
Would be great to see a modern era socom!I'd suggest reviving SOCOM and having Bungie do it.
I honestly believe that if Sony plays their cards right and gets the right developer involved, they could create a new SOCOM franchise with a multiplayer community that rivals COD. Everyone I know who has played SOCOM online in the past has had nothing but raving reviews about that time in their lives.Would be great to see a modern era socom!
Not sure about rivaling cod because cod has its own genre, it caters more to the really fast paced players, which is why I always preferred battlefield (2042 exemption here).I honestly believe that if Sony plays their cards right and gets the right developer involved, they could create a new SOCOM franchise with a multiplayer community that rivals COD. I played a lot of Marathon, but I think Halo is basically the spiritual successor to that series.
Still, if Doom can still play now, why not Marathon? Durandal gave me series creep vibes

“They’re Everywhere!”
One of the first games if not the first to have actual aiming of your weapon using the mouse.
The logo for Halo actually uses the Marathon logo inside it too so I believe you are right that it’s the spiritual successor and I think they carried over many ideas and took inspiration from the Marathon games. Rogue AI, some of the alien races may have been inspired by Marathon enemies too in some ways.
I played that way more than I should have. It was so much fun taking on multiple baddies and executing them one by one with excellently animated combos. But reviewers were pretty unkind. I think it was IGN that said something like, "You will only play this game if you want Konoko to have your baby".Maybe we'll finally see a remaster for the first Bungie game that I played: Oni!
I wouldn't base it off Gamespot or IGN solely. I'm waiting for acg to review it and a few other independent reviewers.
Original game also got something like a 74 too..I guess the expectations 7 years later definitely should be higher.
Gamespot gave cyberpunk and bf2042 a 7 and those games had lots of issues.
Gamespot complained the story was boring, same as the first game and they also mentioned combat was repetitive? It was the same in the first game from what I remember.
I'll wait to see what others are saying.
You still have forbidden west in a few weeks and elden ring. The bugs are what kill it for me. Especially since this is really an $80 game since they have paid DLC scheduled for June already, so something they almost certainly cut out of the full game. I played Dying Light 1 at launch on PC and the only bug I saw was turning up draw distance tanked the framerate. Otherwise the game was clean. I'm not paying full price for an unfinished game. I bet it'll hit $30 physical in not too long if it's really as buggy as the IGN review shows.
Sad because this might have been my most anticipated game of the gen after how much I loved and how many times I replayed the original.

Personally I never buy DLC so if I buy it on PC I only will be paying taxes on it since I have a steam gift card. Here's hoping at least some major bugs get fixed with the day 1 patch.
I'm not excited to hear the story is a drag as I personally need something to help me move forward.
I feel they hyped it up too much and even after having played and not finished DL 1, and not reading too much into the sequel, I expected much better from the way it was shown off.
It's weird how ACG says he didn't encounter many bugs at least on PC. He mentions some performance issues on PC and an issue with co op where it may corrupt save files. He doesn't mention if he has the day 1 patch either. His review is still pending apparently. The DLC for Dying Light 1 was great but it felt like a whole new game because of the driving added. And that came out more than a year after the base game. But paid DLC four months after launch just feels like a hidden rise in the cost of the game.
The reviews killed the story in Dying Light 1 too but I enjoyed it.
God I hope Forbidden West and Elden Ring don't let us down.

Skill up says there are some gameplay bugs but also mentions most of the bugs have been fixed during the review period so that also leaves some questions.
He says wait for a sale also because of co op right now corrupting save game files. He says on Reddit there is a patch coming but until he can verify the patch actually fixes that issue, he's gonna keep the review in progress.Seems like he still encountered enough to say wait for a sale as opposed to buying at launch, which is probably what I'll do.
Sifu does seem interesting even though I don't prefer these type of rogue games. I may pick it up later down the road. Since it's only 5 levels and it's very difficult, I feel like if I have the time, which is rare these days, I might actually get somewhere in it.
Dying light 2 got another patch tonight, PC version is up to 1.05 now. Mostly related to performance and crashes according to the patch notes.
For the 6 hours I played I didn't encounter any major bugs on PC, mostly performance hiccups due to demanding ray tracing settings.
There is a mod out that adds some physics from DL 1. The dev is still working on it and tweaking it.Have they fixed the ragdolls? The way zombies being kicked off buildings and thrown into spikes looked like crap in DL2 in this video I saw a few days ago... see from the 2:35 mark to the 3:25 mark to see what I mean.

Physics Are Back
A better pairing to the original Dying Light 1 physics. This mod removes the annoying animations and gives you solid Physic mechanics in the game. Now includes weapon hit detection.www.nexusmods.com
I haven't tried it but I actually started dying light 1 on PC since I never finished it on PS4. I can see how there's a bit of more weight to the weapons and connect when you hit.
Techland has stated in a tweet that they will look into the ragdoll issue when one user commented about kicking zombies off roofs.
