I loved it. I preordered Elden Ring long ago but will be playing H:FW first for sure.

Yeah I'm going to play Horizon first too, as it looks rock solid from every review I have seen from IGN to ACG to Digital Foundry. As hyped as I am for Elden Ring, don't know that it won't be unfinished like Dying Light 2 was given what a terrible time this is to be developing games. I'll take the bird in the hand with Horizon II. God I loved the first and it was one of the big reasons I even bought a PS4 in 2016 after seeing it, God of War, and Days Gone shown off at E3.

I gotta be the only person who liked the Horizon Zero Dawn story. And the only one who liked the Dying Light 1 story too lol.
The story started off somewhat interesting but then I just got lost and didn't seem to get that feeling of "I want to see what happens next".

Another YouTuber I watch also mentions he really enjoyed the story compared to the first one.

I actually finished Dying light 1 this past weekend and while it was a lot of it was go here, fetch this and then the inevitable happens, the ending was disappointing, including what happens in the DLC the Following. I can see the difference now with dying light 2 in how they attempted to improve the narrative.

I chose the other option to my surprise, I knew something wasn't right about that one either. I heard there is also another ending but I will have to look that one up on YouTube. It wasn't terrible for a story but it could have been a lot better.

Similarly I liked days gone gameplay a lot but the story took forever to pick up. That's another title I need to go back and finish but I'm sure my roommate at the time finished it on my PSN account and I don't feel like starting that one over.

Been playing Days Gone over the last few weeks on the PC. Over 100 fps at 4K and using a mouse to aim makes it so much better. I also really like the story but maybe because I’m a romantic and something about searching for your wife against all odds gets to me. Won’t spoil the rest but it was a good story with a few twists at the end. Shame that the game left open a bridge to the sequel that will never happen.

Really enjoyed the Digital Foundry analysis for Forbidden West. They actually recommend playing this one on the PS5 in resolution mode rather than performance mode.

I read some of the Ars article on the game, and was a bit surprised to hear about the bad pop-in on the PS4. They also seemed to suggest that looking at the two versions suggested that the PS4's limitations held the PS5 version back a bit, but they didn't really expound upon that much.

I've had the game pre-ordered for a while from Target during their mishap of letting it into the 40% off sale. I still haven't played the first game though.

EDIT:

Looks like the Cyberpunk PS5 upgrade is available now.

Interesting... I'm curious to see what sort of improvements we see with it. Open world games certainly seem like they'd benefit the most from fast access to assets.

It does load much faster. The RT mode added was really stuttery so not sure if it's worthwhile.

Also strangely while it did allow me to load my PS4 saves it didn't move over my configuration settings.

JFC I had a near perfect run to the second form of the Sean boss fight (boss of the second stage) in Sifu, reaching his second form at age 21 after dominating his first form, and still couldn't close the deal. Ugh this game is just kicking my teeth in lol. For the first time I'm too frustrated with it to go back.

So if I completed the squats level at age 33, I start the second level at 33 which is the club.

I made it past the kung fu guy where you get the key card. But I ended up using all my lives shortly after.

If I start over at the first level and I end up finishing it at a younger age does that replace the age I start with in the club level?

I'm really not sure how the ability unlocks work either. It's a fun quick game to play when I have nothing to do but I can never get the moves down right with the analog stick.

I'll be picking up my PS4 copy around noon today. Won't have time to play tonight since my girlfriend is taking me out for my birthday but I'm looking forward to get into it this weekend.

I saw a little bit of ACG's walking the walk video and it looks like the details in the world are really well done this time.

Happy Birthday!

Will be picking mine up soon if I can get a few minutes between meetings.

Thanks! The ps4 version is a two disc game. I put in the data disc and then it started copying stuff over but it's easy to go to the product page and select the PS5 version that you have to agree to "buy".

It's now downloading 87gb of data and should take about 40 minutes surprisingly on wifi too.

Is it me or is the upscale in performance mode horrendous in Forbidden West on PS5? It looks like when I run the Nvidia Image Scaler upscaler with the sharpening turned way too high. This doesn't even look like 1440p much less 1800p. The palm trees and some of the grass are just straight ugly with this upscaler. And I have already done the shut the game down and restart twice to apply the hotfix for shimmering as Guerilla Games recommended.

I haven't played it yet but I do recall digital foundry saying it should be played in graphics mode instead. I think open world games like this with environments like grassy planes end up looking blurry in performance mode.

It doesn't look blurry, it looks like taking NIS and cranking the sharpening to the max.

This video someone posted on reddit when Guerilla Games was asking for documentation is exactly what Forbidden West looks like on my 4k panel playing in performance mode. It is seriously gross looking and caused me to stop playing the game 15 minutes in and wait for a patch. I don't have any sharpening turned on in my monitor's settings and neither does the person who posted this.
