I'm not surprised we get 1080p60 on PS5 at all. Been saying it all along we still aren't CLOSE to getting 4k60 any time soon yet they keep trying to push 4k with all these buzzwords.

Maybe when they stop worrying about games on PS4 and X1 they will be able to actually hit that target.

PS5 has the hardware that it should be able to run pretty much everything at 1440p 60fps if you don't have raytracing turned on, even my GTX 1660 Super can run a lot of games 1440p 60fps and the PS5 has a way stronger gpu in it than that. 4k is a different story, you're talking RTX 3080, maybe RTX 3090 if you want to run everything 2160p 60fps.

Dunno... comparable RX 6000 series card in fillrate and compute power to the PS5 is the 6600 XT... and only 6 of the 17 games that Compubase used in their 6600 review was above 60 fps average at 1440p. Average overall was 49 fps.

Are they testing at ultra settings though like almost every other benchmarking site does? Console games are usually running at more like high settings with a few things scaled back farther, and running high settings almost always gets you a big bump in framerate vs ultra.

I am so far out of the graphics card game that I have absolutely no idea what all those cards you are talking about means lol.

1660 Super is like an upper low end card or lower midrange card from 2019, cost $230, which used to be a solidly midrange price point until freaking ether miners caused massive gpu price inflation in 2018. 3080 is a lower high end card from 2020 that cost $1000 or more thanks to freaking cryptominers again causing massive gpu price inflation in 2020 and beyond. PC gaming sucks thanks to cryptominers. One of the reasons I hope no public exploit for PS5 is released for at least a year, so cryptobros don't start buying them to mine on.

Funny how a 3080 is considered lower high end. The 3080ti is probably high end and 3090 and 3090ti aren't really cards for gaming but more for content creation.

Most of the newer stock if the 3080/ti models have a built in limiter to limit mining now too.

Forgot to mention this, but on Saturday I saw people waiting outside a Gamestop 45 minutes before it opened. Yeah there's only one thing they would be waiting for. They must be selling directly in store now.

It's still bundles though. Not the system by itself.

It's really hard to believe the PS5 is still difficult to get up until now. Looking ahead at the 4 series gpu's to come, looks like they will be even more power hungry and not to mention transient load spikes.

I had to upgrade my 850w to a better 1000w psu to stop the transient power spikes that would reboot PC.

At this point, they should just stop building PS5/XbsX and put the SoC on a PCIe 4.0 x16 card and call it a day. Would save them ton on costs and they can still charge $500 for it. With an updated UEFI, the system can boot into the console-on-card at will.

Same here. I know why the PS5 is hard to get, but you can imagine that we'd be absolutely swimming in systems by this point if the pandemic hadn't knocked production off-kilter.

Consoles are also making more and more sense as time goes on. It's wild that you'd spend more than you would on an entire PS5 just to get a good modern GPU, and that's before factoring in the power consumption. A modest computer paired with a console seems like a better balance.

My 3090 games just fine, and I got it for MSRP!!

I'm still ok rocking my GTX 1080. Don't really see a need for an upgrade any time soon. It's not like there are many great games demanding it. Plus, my PS5 has my attention now. Haven't booted up my PC in months. Just do all PC related stuff on my laptop when I work from home and even do some cyberpunk 2077 on it as it has a 1660 Ti in it.

BTW had another bug. There 's a mission in Las Vegas where you're supposed to go into a dungeon and pick up an item doing some platforming. The game doesn't say anything about this but you are also have to kill the burrowers that spawn after picking up the item. On top of that, you're blocked from leaving the dungeon without killing them but the block isn't in the immediate vicinity where the platforming room is. I walked around for like 15 minutes wondering why I couldn't find the exit until I randomly went back into the room and killed the burrowers.

There is some dialog about that from another NPC that mentioned it.

Still looks like garbage on my 4k panel in performance mode. Doubting this will ever be fixed, wasted my $60 on this trash. Thank god Elden Ring lived up to the hype.

Lol it’s not terrible at 30fps…in fact it’s much more enjoyable to have the better graphics for this title among others to me.

John Linneman said that on Twitter. Of course after the game launched, never mentioned anything about the horrible image quality in performance mode in his fluff of a review where he called the game a "PS5 Graphics Masterclass." Can't trust his videos any more after that garbage he pulled.

Cause they focused on how it looked in graphics mode. I thought it was obvious

It wasn't obvious and that's not how they usually reviewed games by focusing on only one mode. Linneman decided to hide how garbage performance mode was and completely lost his credibility in doing so to build up hype for this unfinished game with his video that seemed like little more than an undisclosed sponsored video. He pulled similar crap with Elden Ring by not releasing a performance video on it for launch after Bandai-Namco asked him not to and to wait for the Day 1 patch to come out. Reviewers shouldn't be so cozy with publishers.

I actually saw similar a week before Black Friday when I went and got in line 30 minutes early for this ridiculous Buy 2, Get 1 deal they had (ridiculous because it was B2G1 but with BF prices) and there were already a bunch of people there. Figured crap, they're going to snatch up all the good PS5 games. Turns out it was just people lining up to get the new Pokemon game on Switch lol. I was the only person in the line looking to buy PS5 stuff.

Developer Polyphony Digital's studio boss, Kazunori Yamauchi, apologized to fans in late March for the downtime and for changes to the game's economy that drastically reduced the amount of credits a player could earn in an hour. As part of that apology, every GT7 player was given an extra 1.2 million credits.

At the time, Yamauchi promised more substantial changes in the April game update.

That promised update is now here and includes three new events in the World Circuit mode, new rewards for custom and arcade races (which paid out very little until now), reward cars for completing the Circuit Experience challenges in either bronze or gold, and a new set of missions, each of which is an hour-long endurance race with a 1.2 million-credit payout.

Not bad for one hour of gameplay. How achievable that payout is, needs to be checked out.

1.46GB update file getting copied on PS5 after download. Doesn't feel like this thing has an NVMe SSD. Slowwwwwwww.

Yeah I’m not sure why it has to do that. Usually I do something else while it does what it needs to do. Come back to it later
