If he had a heart attack, would Palin become the GOP's candidate?
Nah. There's another Bush tan, rested and ready.
Jeb in '08.

That would be their dream come true...
Not even the Republicans would want her to go straight to the White House, would they?

i gotta call this debate a draw, no big swings taken by either. i'm not a fan of this format, no follow-ups really cuts it down to sound bites and not discussion. the way these two danced around giving a concrete answer, i though they were fred astaire and ginger rogers. i think mccain presented slightly better, as a superficial measure. strong points were foreign policy for mccain and healthcare for obama.

Yes. They would if it meant winning - it got Bush into office twice....

You've been saying that for weeks. Nothing new from you and everyone expects your typical BS. Have an original thought.

not likely.

the decision of who to replace McCain with would fall to the RNC and I'd think Romney would yield more weight than Palin

The big loser of this debate is Tom Brokaw. He didn't enforce the rules, he didn't press the candidates to actually answer the question like the previous moderator tried, and he picked mostly boring questions taking all the fun out of a town hall style debate.

Obama's class warfare credo is definitely a clear and visible difference between the two candidates' economic philosophies. Personally I don't think it is correct regardless of the current economic conditions, but some or perhaps many Americans like polish and campaign promises over service to country and experience. Obama is a better speaker than McCain, and he only had to tie to come out as the winner, so he probably is the winner.

To be completely honest, no.

Bush in 2000 is a completely different situation.

mccain comes from a long line of admirals. that didn't stop him from "learning everything from a chief petty officer"

They had a black 20 year old that said he's "undecided". Give me a break. He just said it to go on tv.

its so funny, mccain is so pissed that someone so much younger than him rose so much quicker than he did. not to mention that obama came from very humble beginnings(his answer to what dont you know was heartmoving)

I agree with most everyone else. Both did a decent job and I don't really know anything about the candidates that I didn't know before with the exception of McCain's mortgage plan.

I guess I screwed up by buying a house which I could afford. I should have gone nuts and gotten a handout.

It was made up of McCain supporters, Obama supporters, and undecideds according to Text.

EDIT: Nevermind, thought you were talking about the debate audience

When Obama goes after the Bush economy and the Bush deficit I wish McCain would say the following:

Senator Obama and I agree on one thing, we are both glad that Bush is not running for another term.

From there he could go on to the rest of his bit. He does himself a disservice to allow Obama to tie him and Bush together.
