Dear God, Obama laid down an Epic and classic slapdown of JOhn McCain with that "Bomb Bomb Bomb, Iran" line.

McCain: "My Hero, TR (It was reagan a minute ago) said speak softly and carry a big stick"
OBama: "How can you talk about speaking softly when you sing songs about bombing iran and say you are going to anihilate North Korea"

This was basically a different format for a debate that had the exact same questions and responses as the first one.

The Iraqi Airforce was destroyed on the first day, I'm a little skeptical that a strike force flying from Israel to Iraq would be engaged by coalition forces, but I could be wrong.

IFF Codes:

Once the war started and Scud missiles began to fall, the Israeli leadership came under increasing pressure from top government and military officials to retaliate. Some members of the Israeli cabinet, as well as the Air Force chief of staff, lobbied Prime Minister Shamir to take military action.(34) Shamir was also under the pressure of precedent -- Israel had never before stood idle while under attack.

On several occasions during the first days of the war, Defense Minister Arens demanded that Secretary Cheney either provide IFF codes ("friend or foe" identification to distinguish aircraft), or order U.S. forces to "stand down" while Israel acted against targets in western Iraq. Each time, Cheney deferred. He would advise Arens the decision could only be taken by Bush, who would then call Prime Minister Shamir and stridently urge Israel not to act.(35) After one Scud attack, Bush asked Shamir to contact him personally if Israel sustained substantial casualties or suffered a non-conventional attack.

Scud ineffectiveness.

To partially compensate Israel for its decision to hold its fire, Bush offered to send Patriot missiles to Israel. The first batteries arrived on January 20. These proved only marginally effective, however, because Patriots that did intercept incoming Scuds (and fewer than half did) caused them to explode over population centers, sending debris that caused extensive damage.

I'm as big of a political junkie as there is, but does it make me a bad person that half-way through the debate I was longing for something a bit more intellectually stimulatiting and with more thought-provoking dialogue-- maybe a Saved By The Bell marathon?

This debate was an exact rehash of the last debate, with the only difference being normal voters pretending to ask the questions the candidates would eventually ignore instead of all of them being asked by a moderator. I'm very disappointed in McCain's performance-- he looked sleepy and listless.

I'm a republican and I was so disgusted with McCain's performance that I couldn't watch it and turned it off. Obama handed him his ass at every turn and it's over for the "maverick." Obama will be the next president and I don't think that there's anything else to be said about it. The republicans fielded a weak candidate and have multiple issues tied to the current administration that weigh them down. Short of an alien abduction of Obama this election is over.

I have not heard anyone on the TV say that Obama won.

Even the partisans said that it was another tie.
These have been very even debates with neither candidate getting the upper hand.

What are they saying?
One commentator earlier lamented the passing of the Republican party, mostly they are trying to figure why McCain suddenly came out of left field with a plan to buy everybody's mortgages and devalue them. Romney seemed puzzled by it, apparently hadn't gotten any advance notice.

Question, why are you so calm and mellow all of as sudden? Where's the venom, spite, and anger from just a few months back?

Have you already conceded defeat? I'm being serious here...

LOL! It's a whole new ballgame in America. The sum of the parts is ten times greater than the whole. The new math.....

I agree, I started straightening the pictures on my wall one by one. Was more involved than the debate.

I hope I misunderstood what McCain was saying about the mortgage bailout. Did he mean to say that mortgage companies should reevaluate the mortgage amount based on the current value and the payment should be set to that?

Example

paid 300k now worth 200k, USA eats the 100k

Wow, what was with that mortgage bailout plan by Senator McCain? I didn't see that coming.

Tie overall, which for the alleged newbie Senator Obama is a slight win (a chance to look presidential and match up evenly with a decades-old veteran of the Senate).

Pretty funny that McCain mentioned Lieberman 3 times that I heard. I don't recall hearing Palin mentioned.

The Stages of Grieving:

* 1. Denial and Isolation.
* 2. Anger.
* 3. Bargaining.
* 4. Depression.
* 5. Acceptance.

I believe PJ is in 5.

Senator Obama and I agree on one thing, we are both glad that Bush is not running for another term.

From there he could go on to the rest of his bit. He does himself a disservice to allow Obama to tie him and Bush together.

Yeah, ok, but what are their major policy differences? I saw a Sunday morning polical show where Paul Begala tied McCain to Bush and the Republican guest objected citing McCain's differences on climate change and campaign finance reform.

I mean, those are two important issues, but if they represent the most significant differences between Bush and McCain, it seem entirely legitimate to tie them together.

It seems to me like McCain's tax plan and his foreign policy is identical to Bush's, and I really don't understand why he doesn't do more to differentiate himself from Bush.

That's what it sounded like. Krauthammer on Fox now, saying McCain "tossed out a grenade" with his mortgage plan.
