Is it me, or was Obama sounding like a moderate conservative tonight...particularly on foreign policy...I wasn't hearing anything that far removed from the "Bush Doctrine."

If anything, Obama and McCain were offering minor variations on the same strategy.

Under an Obama Presidency, there will be no immediate withdrawal from Iraq. Obama has yet to define his criteria for an exit strategy. It appears that a surge in Afghanistan is the preferred strategy, with an added emphasis on pressuring Pakistan to go after Al Quaida in its remote mountain regions. Iran and North Korea are still "evil" and we need to keep Russia in check.

Yeah, let's develop an energy program for china, that's the answer!
Sell them something instead of just buying shit from them??

Why would china buy our energy program?

To make their energy program better.

Yeah, they're going to care about a more expensive energy generation system that will be nicer to those smog clouds they live in.

Their methods of generating electricity are considerably more expensive than the cost of materials. The US and other countries found out that the indirect costs of heavily polluting technology is very, very high.

There is the concept of TCO, which the Chinese no doubt understand. They haven't good alternatives to what they are doing. The point would be for us to provide a system that brings that down. That way everyone benefits.

The sheer contempt Mccain has showed these past few debates is digraceful. During the first debate, he didn't look at Obama once. I just finished watching the second debate and I COULDN'T BELIEVE what saw at the end.

Obama walks over to Mccain smiling...They are 2 feet apart looking each other directly in the eye...Obama extends his right hand and Mccain STEPS BACK refusing to take it. He walked out of the hall without shaking Obama's hand..

Honestly..WTF?! What does that say about Mccain's character? I consider the demeanor and attitude of a president is very important. If there were a candidate I agreed with 100% that acted the way Mccain did tonight, I would not be able to vote for them.

can you blame him? 7 years of putting principals on hold and sucking up to the GOP only to be crushed by a 2-year senator with no substantial accomplishments under his belt, and all because of George Bush *again* no less.

if McCain could invent a time machine and travel back to kill Barbara Bush, I think he's do it.

Or maybe he'll invent a time machine to go into the future and feel some sort of delight by seeing how, IMHO, Obama ruins the economy by chasing companies away with big taxes which causes massive unemployment. If Obama gets elected and he doesn't do dittly squat, there's going to be hell to pay. After all, he is the "one".... Once you become president, you cannot just vote present. Having people throw tomatoes and garbage at Obama... McCain may not feel so bad.

"handshake" video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WI0iIOqPGak

non-issue that, if anything, reflects badly on Obama who was the one who turned his back and walked away.

What are you talking about Obama can do no wrong.

You guys are nuts. Obama tried to shake his hand, McCain showing no class pointed him to his wife (the 'C***'), and looked away from Obama at the crowd, then Obama turned.

McCain's a dirty old bastard. I'm listening to the 2nd debate again on NPR, I can't believe he's keep talking shit about Obama taking bribes from Fannie and Freddie, when it's probably himself who did all that shit, but since he's so damn old, he doesn't remember anything. And the condescending tone he directed to the black guy audience about how he probably never heard of Fannie and Freddie before this shit storm is sickening. He might as well take off his fake ass mask and start calling Obama "that n*gger." And he has the nerve to accuse Obama of running shit w/ his cronies. Hey old man, I think you should direct that comment towards Bush and his big oil buddies.

Wow I didn't even notice the handshake thing. That is HORRIBLE. Talk about gaffes, the media will be all over McCain for that one.

McCain is DONE. Say good bye Republicans. Your rule is OVER. Your party will be DISMANTLED. You will not come close to the White House for the next 8 years.

Say it with me, President Barack Hussein Obama.

It's not a non-issue that McCain refused to shake Obama's hand and referred to him as "that one". It will sink whatever is left of his pathetic campaign and the media WILL crucify him for that. Bet the bank on that one.

Just McCain displaying some of his 'experience' with how to speak diplomaticaly.

What offends me is McCain backing the incursion into Pakistan Obama calls for if needed, but chastising Obama for being honest about the policy, saying it should be hidden.

Just what we need, more secret wars and lies.

From a person who has the foresight to associate with terrorist, who have vote present so many times and who have said things were "above my pay rate".. how will the United States of America treat you if they feel that you have misled them?

I think many here are misunderstanding that handshake thing. IIRC, Obama and McCain shook hands at the actual end of the debate just before Brokaw asked them to stop blocking his teleprompter. I think I saw a still of that.

What happened in the "no handshake" clip, I think, is that McCain tapped Obama on the shoulder to get him to shake hands with Cindy, so that when Obama turned around to shake, McCain then simply redirected him to Cindy, which was the reason he tapped Obama on the shoulder from behind in the first place.

Straight talk express lost a wheel on that one!

apparently Harvey is one of Obama's writers

zing!

What zing, stoopi? That Harvey could think of something so clever that seasoned political writers also thought of it and put it on Obama's plate as a zinger to hit McCain with?
