I had to start learning some web programming for my new job and thusly I've been digging around for some decent web design blogs/sites. I found a few that were pretty helpful, but I figured everyone could benefit from each other's knowledge. So, if you know a good programming blog, please post

To contribute, please use this format to make my life easier

Title: Your Title
Topic: Brief description

Thanks

Once I get more time I'll do some more organization and check out all the blogs myself...

Here's my RSS 'coding' folder. I've been playing around a lot with Silverlight lately so there's more of a focus on that. I should probably move those to their own folder soon (Also - using a very loose interpretation of "languages")

Nice contri. OP, if you want to consolidate these suggestions into the first post I think we have the makings of a new sticky.

The formatting for the entries on the list is way too heavy, and emphasizes the words 'title', 'topic' and 'languages' which are merely labels. It also wastes rows which makes it harder to scan through for items of interest. This would be more readable, IMO:

Bloggy McBlog
Topic: Game Development
Languages: BASIC

Blogblog
Topic: Computer Science
Languages: Brainfuck

Bloggity
Topic: Functional Programming
Languages: Unlambda

Jason Cohen's blog has become one of my favorites as of late.

It's not as heavy on the coding, though he is/was a coder so he can get technical when he needs to, its more small business/startup oriented. but very good overall

-------------------------------------

Also surprised no one mentioned Coding the Wheel.

This guy documented his job of creating an online poker bot, how he got each bot to make $10k a year, then set up ~20 of them... Also gets into the constant battles of hiding from all the anti-bot actions of the online poker sites.

I think he's gotten out of the poker bot business. His blog posts are less frequent and usually more about programming in general instead of poker programming. All in all, a very good read.

Shameless promotion... I'll be starting up my own blog for kicks and giggles. I'm at http://www.geekswithblogs.net/CogBlog There you can learn such mysteries as "My Name"! Nothing up as of now... but just thought I would put it out there.

Another shameless plug for http://www.geekswithblogs.net/rakker My brothers blog. He does actually have stuff there. He is more focused on project management concepts. I think my blog will be more about actual coding (in several languages).

I'm not sure who contributed this or when, but it doesn't look right. I see no PHP, and the "uby" is missing.

A better description would be:
Title: Computational Mathematics - Adventures in Computing, Statistics, and R
Topic: mathematical programming
Languages: R, etc
Link

I'd be interested in a Ruby/Rails blog if anyone has seen a real good one.

This is a great thread with some very interesting websites/blogs. Is there any particular one you'd recommend to someone with no prior programming knowledge. There's just so much information out there, I don't know where to start!

I use to play around on this website. They have a lot of basic information.

Here is a website that sell some interesting books. They were advertising some books and videos for programming in Android Apps. They sell books for all kinds of programming languages like Java etc.
http://www.deitel.com/

This guy should know something about C++
http://www.stroustrup.com/compilers.html

You could always go to a college and see what kind of books they throw away. I use to have them sitting all over the place. COBOL, Assembly, C++, Java 2, Rule based Programming< Excel, Database, System Development, Project Management, Pascal. A Pascal book would be really cheap and you can probably get a free compiler. It is similar to C programming.

You can find free C Compilers for Linux and DOS/Windows.
